  2. Well given that there is no Landclass in the FTX product right now the town of Caselle being at the end is purely down to the default landclass, FTXG is simply offering a different texture/autogen set to display in the same 1.2km Landclass square.
  3. I'd say imho any product that comes out with no uninstaller but a promise to add one later is unfinished and not ready for release. But then that's also almost certainly part of the thinking behind the OpenLC packs, allowing them to release the textures now and then bits and pieces of the world as and when they finish them simply because trying to finish a project as large as this in one go would easily take over a year (probably two) even with the development team they have on hand. As rsperge said if the base textures were only $50 I might be tempted but for $100 I'm not. Wait a year or two for all the OpenLC packs to come out and you'll probably be able to buy a finally completed product for that initial $100 and it would be reasonable. But that's just the two cents of a poor pig farmer, your mileage financial and otherwise will vary.
  4. Surprised they didn't do anything about the water textures since this is a texture update, that alone is underwhelming given how most of the Earth's surface is water.
  5. Any link to the YouTube video?
  6. No it's not but sadly for people like myself that is still a lot of money, a days wages in my line of work (farming), and that's before tax lol. Right now a new computer is on my mind which with my quarterly bonus around the corner may be doable but even that is going to be cheap compared to what I know most people here invest in their machines.
  7. Well that's cheaper than originally mentioned, I think I've seen three prices listed now over its development, $300+, $195 and now $99. I'm guessing they realised that most people simply can't afford triple digit price tags, sadly I can't even justify $99 right now though, least of all that doesn't include the improved landclass which might sound cheap at ~$15 an area but how many areas are they going to split things up in to?! Oh and that doesn't include the other packs like airports, etc. they are making as part of it. So I guess that $300+ price tag is still there, just spread out and hidden across the entire package. For that kind of money I'd be more interested in P3D which looks good out of the box and still have some money left over for some of Carenado's new birds. Nope, you've still got to buy multiple regions if you want to get all the landclass which is what will probably make the biggest difference to the sim since the default landclass quite bluntly sucks compared to what we find in the real world out our windows. As a base this seems more like REX.
  8. Looks great, just wish I could afford a copy to test compatibility with my in-progress addons for Canada and .....
  9. Ok well version 1.1 is live. This update more than doubles my original work adding 44 aircraft making nearly 1000 flights each week to over 300 airports! Download it from my website here - http://realbigtree.com/
  10. Just a quick update, my website is currently down as it appears the host I chose couldn't cope with the visitors my site had recieved so I have just set up a new host tonight which won't have any problems. Please allow a couple of days for me to get everything back up again but it'll be coming along with some more plans including brand new Air Baltic plans!
  11. You can only make plans that are based on a single week but you could make a plan with say a flight on Monday, another on Wednesday and a final on Friday for example as long as the starting location is the ending destination (EGKK-EGLL-EGPK-EGKK for example) you can pretty much do what you want as long as it doesn't take more than a week to do. What you want to do is easily achievable but it'll just be on a week basis rather than a full month.
  12. aig_cargojet_summer_2011.zip, aig_summer_2008_kelownaflightcraft.zip and morningstar_air_express_su_09.zip should have those aircraft airborne. All on AVSIM.
  13. I have just released the first version of my new Cessna 510 Citation Mustang plans for the fabulous maxflight-AI model. These flightplans are based upon data collected from Flightaware.com and in 75% of cases flights are performed at the real time on the real day of the week that they actually happened. The remaining flights are real but hours may have been moved forwards or back and/or the day operated on may be different simply to enable the data to fit into the limited 1 week scope of the flightsim AI engine. You can find and download the pack from my website at http://www.realbigtree.com along with all my other plans and repaints. If you have not already done so I recommend that you install the Ultimate GA pack of plans too - citation_mustang_package.zip on AVSIM.With the addition of my plans you can have all Canadian Mustangs airborne and a number of American mustangs too. This will be an ongoing work and will ultimately produce a package adding all Canadian and N registered Mustang's that can be tracked to your sim, somewhere around 200 aircraft! Keep your eyes peeled on my website for regular future updates and other aircraft packs to come out.
  14. I always wondered what the point of updating the database was though. Great EGKK now has a new landing frequency or a new SID deperature route (for example), sadly unless you have an updating AFCAD file for every airport affected by any changes then flying with the default ATC simply won't work correctly. It's also not a guaranteed factor flying online since you are then depending upon the VATSIM ATC to have the same AIRAC cycle with the same updates as you. I admire the fact that's possible to now fly with the most accurate real-world data but do we have the sim to keep up?
  15. Ah so in theory if I change the AFCAD and then just create a bgl file with an exclude in it to get rid of FSX's default flatten then I wouldn't need a flatten of my own as the mesh would be correct and the AFCAD would take care of the rest? Next question, how exactly do I exclude the default flatten, unless I'm missing something I can't even see a default flatten in SBuilderX???I've appended the correct file for this area 0603/cvx4931.bgl and I still can't see any default flattens, excludes or anything else? I've read the tutorial by Luis but that talks more about a complete rebuild than simply an update to an existing area and doesn't make everything very clear.
  16. Ok I've tried making a flatten and it worked but didn't do what I want. I purposefully made it larger than necessary so I could see it's affects and while it did flatten the terrain, it didn't flatten the platform the airport is sitting on. The new AFCAD I created using ADEX also has it's altitude set to 10m so that shouldn't be causing the problem, any ideas? I've attached images of my scenery, both with and without the flatten. Removing my own AFCAD makes no difference to the picture. With Flatten - http://farm5.static....737deaa_b_d.jpgWithout Flatten - http://farm5.static....253e89e_b_d.jpgBoth include my mesh which can clearly be seen to be lowering the terrain (as it should) and making Sao Tome look alot better in the process, I just need to get this airport down about 600ft!Edit - Here's the default scenery - http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4105/5060075028_2d9369cb4d_b_d.jpg
