  1. Thank you Joe...that's the one. Could not locate it until you pointed out exactly what to look for and where to find it. Thanks a million!!! >S<
  2. Yessir...like I said in my OP..."Advanced Animations" are enabled...and that is why I went to several different default airports with the default 737 where I saw the jetways moving to up to the AI aircraft, and then went to those specific gates......
  3. OK, so admittedly I am VERY late getting to the FSX game, as I only just this year finally built a computer worthy of FSX and moved up from "9". I am able to run it with all my sliders maxed and still get reasonable frames (20 or better) at even the most-dense add-on airports with my iFly737 or MADDOG MD-80 with the help of all the FSX tweaks here in these forums (thanks, Nick). However, I am not able to get the animated jetways to "come to me"...EVER. I've searched all the forums and Google, of course, and many refer to making sure the aircraft.cfg has the proper coding...so I have back-tracked to trying the DEFAULT 737 at several DEFAULT airports, with no luck. Engines off, doors open, parking brake set, beacon off, seatbelts sign off, loaded the flight from scratch so the plane would be set at the proper spot (still no-go), then fiddled with the parking location...no joy. The jetways DO go to my AI aircraft when they are at the gate next-door, and I am very envious of them. So I tried relocating to their gate (because I know that jetway works/moves)...nope, nada, nothing. Like I stated , I have all my sliders maxed, including advanced animations and airport ground traffic. The cute little push-back tug shows up when it's time to go, and animated loader and bag-cart DO come over to my aircraft when I open the cargo doors, but nothing happens when I press "CONTROL+J". During my tweaking (be nice), I have edited both the "controls.xml" and FSX.cfg files, and my thought (ok, fear) is that I've possibly lost (ok, deleted) the "Control-J" setting code...however, I looked back at my saved copies (yes, I have them!!) of the originals of both those files from the clean install, and can not locate any reference to "Control+J" or "CNTRL+J" or the like. If I could find one, I would be able to copy it to my modified files and be good to go. Sooooo, my question is, does anyone know where the reference to "Control-J" is located and what it may be, so I can see if it's present in my current file? Is it hard-coded into the game? A side note...if you look for the coding for "DOORS" (ya know, the SHIFT+E and "SHIFT+E+2" codes) in the xml file, it is not in there either....the only way to change the door settings is in the game itself...but it HAS to be in an edit-able file somewhere....probably right along with the "CONTROL+J" code that I can't find... Ideas, help, tea???
  4. Jim....I have thus far (luckily) never had my FS CTD, nor have I seen any memory error or OOM messages, with this rig. Whew....why did I just say that (?!?!?!?)... Jinxed for sure now. Just this current freeze thing. Jeff......Yes, I have a bit of a grasp on that, I just used the phrase "Memory Patch" here for brevity. I'm always a fan of making the program run a bit better/smoother...so I did go ahead and download the Explorer Suite and applied the >2Gb mod to my FS9.exe.... I have not yet flown it enough to see if it makes any difference in frames or smoothness, but like I said earlier, I really didn't have any frame/stutter issues before (except for this freeze outside IAD), so it may be hard to see any gain, unless it's pretty significant. Steve0616......I found that specific file (Cloud9 UT_LWM1_VTPH.BGL) in my DCA terrain/scenery folder.......what is it, a C9/UT compatibility file (guessing by the name)? I did have time to do the flight out of IAD this morning, and with BWI disabled, everything was fine, so now I'll try activating BWI and removing that file and see if that does it. Fun, fun, fun... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Steve Kareta FS2004 / AS6 / UT / one-zillion add-ons // Win-7-64 Dell Dual-core / 4 Gb ram / Palit-NVidia Geforce GTX-460-1gb
  5. Hmmm, could be....I am going to have to re-activate that BWI and see if it freezes just at that same point, regardless of whether I change ATC frequencies or not. I have looked into the memory patch since reading about it here, though I am running Win-7 64 bit, and from what I'm seeing, I don't know if it applies to the 64 bit version Win-7 or just the 32-bit.....but I am always interested in seeing if "more is better".....and I always make backups so I can undo as necessary. One note I saw in another forum somewhere, I do check my task manager, and have never seen FS using more than 800,000 to 900,000 of memory (885,000 is about the most I've seen, even when it freezes), even at the most-dense locations, it's usually at about 550,000....and I do check to see that FS is using both cores, as I know sometimes you need to "trick" it into using both, but that's a whole other topic....Still more to ponder and fiddle with, but isn't that the fun of it? (unless it's crashing your machine, of course)......... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Steve Kareta FS2004 / AS6 / UT / one-zillion add-ons // Win-7-64 Dell Dual-core / 4 Gb ram / Palit-NVidia Geforce GTX-460-1gb
  6. I have to admit that I have not played with any of the memory settings, and have not applied any of the "memory switches" or patches that I have seen discussed here in this thread. In all honesty, I have been getting great frames and no stutters, even at the most dense payware add-on airports I have, with dense weather (AS6), with AI traffic at 80% (I have all the WOAI for N America sets), max vis at something like 80 miles, mips at 4, but all my other sliders maxed. I even have the anti-aliasing ON in FS (gasp!!!, and I have used NVidia Inspector to tweek my card a bit, but nothing is overclocked). At airports like Cloud-9's DCA or any of my FlyTampa places (BOS, TPA) I'm getting 35-FPS or better, and 50+ in cruise, so I have not had the need to explore opening more memory on my rig. Yes, THIS is why I've stayed with (or more accurately, come back to) FS2004!!! Going back to the original OP's issue, I again took the first part of the trip out of IAD towards BOS yesterday, with my KBWI disabled, and no freeze. To point, it may not be that specific airport or AFCAD that is causing the jam, but it may be how it is interacting with another add-on, ATC, or AI traffic. More research is still in order when I have the time. Has anyone experienced freezes related to ATC? Is there any conflict between using a standard "FS9-issued" routing vs the routings using , say, Navigraph data (ie: A waypoint perhaps being different between the two)? Reaching even farther outside, any conflicts between DTX3 and 32-bit textures (if using both types at the same time for different areas)? And the hunt continues.....
  7. I have been having the same issue on the East Coast, in the northeast corridor. I file a flight plan from KIAD to KBOS, routing is KIAD, OOD, J42 to PUT, to KBOS. When heading from IAD to the OOD VOR, the sim freezes up at EXACTLY the same spot EVERY time, 91 miles from the OOD VOR. The sim freezes (not CTD and no error messages) with both the iFly 737 and the Posky/PSS merge 773. I am sifting through all my addon sceneries (of which I have waaaaay too many, both pay and free) right now, but I have to agree that I don't think it is a memory issue. This is 100% "repeat-able" for me....When I fly out of DCA on the same route (KDCA to OOD, J42 to PUT, etc), no problems, but it happens every single time in exactly the same spot out of IAD. I have disabled my KIAD add-on scenery and still the same results, still freezes, but when I disable my KBWI scenery (KBWI2k5v2 by Matthew Perry and Joshua Broadwater), I make it through without freezing. So then, when I tried to file a plan out of KBWI, the sim freezes and won't even load the scenery (it loads if I just "go" to the airport, though, without filing a plan from BWI), so maybe the culprit is in there (KBWI) somehow. I am not saying that this particular add-on is at fault....it may be how it interacts with another add-on or utility. I will let you know what more I find out. Whether I discover that this is the culprit or not, I am reasonably certain it will be an add-on scenery or conflict. Just out of curiosity, what BWI do you (the OP) have? = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Steve Kareta FS2004 / AS6 / UT / one-zillion add-ons / Win-7 Gateway Dual-core / 4 Gb ram / Palit/NVidia Geforce GTX-460-1gb
  8. Hi mebull...thanks for the ideas... I have tried both of those websites over the past two days, and I can connect to them just fine. I did work through that knowledge-base article. I also have deleted ALL my saved flights, started a new one in a sunny locale, and then did the "go-to airport" routine, bouncing to all different sections of the country where I KNOW they are having poor weather, with the same results. I'm still at a loss. :(
  9. In spite of its inaccuracies, I have been pretty satisfied with the "stock" real world weather, and though I know it does not update as frequently as ActiveSky, it has been surving me well for many years. The problem is recent....just this week. I usually take a good look at national radar every morning, and the weather that I have been getting in FS for the last few days (even up to today) is the pattern that was in place over the country 3 days ago. Crappy/snow over the upper midwest, rain a bit south and over the Oregon coast, and severe clear over the East coast, etc, which is not what it is today. So my issue is not with the FS Real-world weather engine, but that, all of a sudden, it has stopped updating (on both my separate computers), and I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this (which would lead me to look into my modem or router, or even ISP, which is Charter), or it the MSFS server has hung up....and gotten stuck in time.
  10. This is my first post here, though I have been very deep into FS9 for many years, and usually get help with any issue just by scanning the forums, without need for posting myself, but I haven't seen anything here today about this, soooooo, here goes. I have FS9 on two completely separate XP machines (one in my home office, one on a "purpose-built machine for just FS), and since about two days ago, the real-world weather has been "stuck in time". I've followed all the usual recommendations...I have emptied the temp-internet folders, cleared the internet cache of files and cookies, looked to see if I can access the weather website (fs2k.zone, I can), switched on and off real world weather, even deleted all my old flights and weather from the FS folder. Nothing helps, the weather is still giving me an old weather pattern. I load airports all over the US, and it's still blizzarding in KORD (the real weather has passed to the east), cloudy at KPDX, raining at KSDF, sunny in KBOS (it's really snowing heavily in New England now)....they've all stayed the same for several days, and on both machines, so I know it's not computer-specific issue. Is anyone else experiencing this? If not, suggestions?
