  1. Of course. Just point FSBuild to the PMDG/FLIGHTPLANS/777 folder. FSBuild will plop the .rte there, and you're good to go.

Edit: I forget if you have to rename the .rte file. Just look in your 777 flightplan folder and make sure the name follows the format, ICAO1ICAO201.rte. E.g., for a flight from KLAX to KDFW, KLAXKDFW01.rte.

And, you really should get PFPX. It's essential for the airline simmer.

  2. Wouldn't getting FS2Crew mean you are NOT learning the experience? Don't get me wrong, FS2Crew is a great product but it's job is to help the single user do the job of 3 ... or did I get that wrong?

    +1

FS2Crew is an instant crutch--an enabler of inproficiency. Nowhere is this more obvious than with the AoA training. The beautiful flows that AoA spent so much time preparing are useless when your FS2Crew handyman tests/configures all of the systems for you. You just sit back push a few buttons, initialize the FMC and off you go.

Of course, I do realize that the NGX and 777 are two-pilot aircraft. FS2Crew does a fantastic job of simulating that environment. But I personally don't think you should bother with it until you know the systems and procedures inside and out. Unfortunately, most of us can't resist the temptation to jump onboard the second FS2Crew titles are released.

  3. Probably not. This is a well known issue with FSUIPC. Map anything else through FSUIPC, but not the throttle and you'll be fine.

I've gotten my HOTAS Warthog throttles to work just fine. Rather than deleting the ini, I reset the axes for throttle 1 and 2. I.e., I unassigned them in FSUIPC and then reassigned them. I did that with all of my axes (rudder, ailerons and elevator). All is good.

  4. Good evening

When Is the ETA for SP1?

    Best regards

    Marcel Ambord

Service pack? What for? I think people are infatuated with release dates. It's as if we always have to have something to look forward to. Fly the plane.

  5. That's the beauty of "Autocruise"

    Regards,

Exactly. Auto cruise is perhaps the biggest ground breaking achievement with the 777. I know it sounds kind of ridiculous considering the detail and depth of the aircraft itself, but it has completely changed the way I fly. For the first time ever, I can literally fly wherever I want to fly without having to set aside an entire day. When you think about it, the concept is simple enough, but I'm sure the coding that went into it was an enormous challenge.

  6. Hi everyone

I am just playing 'Devils Advocate' here

You are saying that it is possibly an Opus issue but does this issue happen with other aircraft such as the 737NGX or any other third party 777 .....

Process of elimination me thinks ......

    Regards

    Paul

Good question. I assume it's for one of two reasons:

    1. This is the most complex flight model available for FSX. This complexity may make it more susceptible to external influences (FSUIPC, weather injection software, etc.) than any aircraft before it.

    2. How the FDE operates. I don't know if this true, but I wonder if the FDE is external like the Majestic Dash 8. These FSUIPC issues sound a lot like the troubles I was having with the Dash 8. I am running my throttles through FSUIPC and had a devil of a time assigning the detents. And programs like ProATC that manipulate things in the cockpit (frequencies, altimeter, etc.) wouldn't work like they worked in other aircraft. This was all addressed in the manual, and I absolutely LOVE the plane now. Point being, there was nothing wrong with the Dash 8 when I released the parking brake on my inaugural flight and the aircraft lurched backwards. It just meant that my other programs had to "learn" how to work with the new kid on the block. And it wasn't because the new kid on the block had issues and was hard to get along with. It was because the new kid showed everyone on the block what they are really capable of. I call that progress.

  7. At the end of the day, I have seen a bit of strange behaviour from the PMDG B777 - (none of it deal breaking or a death sentence) that did not occur at all with the B737 series and I think there may be some gremlins still in the system somewhere.

I hope PMDG take the information I am relating to them seriously while I try and investigate from my end, my computer and possible conflicts. End of story

I don't think you're making this up at all, but you really should just TRY what we're telling you to try before assuming that there's something intrinsically wrong with the aircraft simulation. It has absolutely nothing to do with your abilities. It's simply because there could be any number of external issues at play here. Like I said, FSUIPC is a huge one in terms of the problem you're describing. Opus, too, sounds like a probable culprit (I don't have it, but it stands to reason that it could play games with such a complex flight model).

Point being, diss the jerks who keep trying to question your ability. But don't be too quick to jump to conclusions by questioning the quality of PMDG's work product. I have a "not insignificant" amount of RW experience myself, and I am extremely impressed by the fidelity of this simulation.

  8. Tim,

Another vote for checking out FSUIPC. For whatever reason a lot of folks are having to delete and regenerate their FSUIPC.ini file in order to get throttle and/or flight control authority. I had no rudder or ailerons myself. That would have been an ugly takeoff--had I forgotten to perform my flight control check. :)

  9. Hey!

just completed my first flight! 5 hours without crash!

I have a question though, do you use ENB series mod with the T7? i wonder if it can make OOM like I had, but i have never had OOM before but now i had one. what do you use?

If I recall correctly, PMDG suggested in the intro manual that you do not use shader mods like ENB and SweetFX. I tried both at one time, but they weren't worth the instability and other unintended effects.

Maybe I read that somewhere else. Anyway, I'm happy without them.

  10. ...be glad you weren't sucked into the maelstrom two years ago when MS Flight came out!

    Borg_zps5faa8d8e.png

Ain't that the truth! That was hair raising for sure.

Avsim is such a great experience to share our experiences with Flightsim, but there's one thing sure, you guys need to stop being ban ##### and let us express ourselves more without being BANNED.

Believe me, I've been very vocal about allowing open dialogue. I think a forum shouldn't discourage discourse. If you look back in hostory, the greatest of all forums, the Forum Magnum, was so important because it facilitated a confrontation of ideas. But the silliness popping up on this forum lately deserves extra "attention," in my opinion. People have lost all sense of decency. I don't agree with shutting down threads entirely, but I do think banning people is necessary from time to time. With major events, like the PMDG 777 release, the forum gets more traffic--and more trolls--so you should expect the banning to be more frequent.

  11. While you're here and if you don't mind explaining, this EULA applies to the product holders (or end-users), what happens if the end-user it not within USA and violates the agreement, can they/how do they get prosecuted if found out by the e-media company?

Look no further than the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Copyright Treaty. There are other treaties as well. Most countries are party to one or more of these treaties, with WIPO being the most recent and comprehensive.

Make no mistake, enforcing agreements internationally is tricky business, but governments recognize that, in a global economy like ours, where information and ideas know no boundaries, rules are essential in protecting technological development.

  12. Of course! What I meant was if people are sharing a serial code and both happens to just fly at the same time. If there was no mechanism to "catch them out", how does PMDG (or one) knows they are infringing the copyright?

That's where the security comes in. I'm a lawyer, not a software developer, but I understand there are ways to link the registered serial with a particular computer (which is why you run into problems if you upgrade your CPU/motherboard). But there will always be ways around the protection. And it's unfortunate for us because infringement costs (the cost of protection measures and lost revenue) only serve to increase the price the rest of us have to pay for software.
