  1. Oh, dear God.

That and printing your own money is perfectly legal, as I recall.

It's not. I'm only kidding. In case that wasn't obvious. ;)

    I had a look at EULA (and actually helping to enforce it in my community), in EULA item e, You may use the Software on a network ONLY IF each individual accessing the Software through the network has a copy licensed to that individual and installed on the machine from which they are accessing the network;

And in combination with the item TERMINATION, that means license will be removed from you if you fail to comply with the terms. Just wondering, how will PMDG track/enforced in particular item e? I understand there may be trade secret involved, but an answer I am looking for may simply be "there are mechanisms in place to enforce every EULA items"?

    Cheers,

It's called copyright infringement and has both civil and criminal penalties. Security measures usually go far to preventing the majority of it, but infringement is as rampant as people are determined.

  2. Hello guys,

    This thread is PMDG related.

After the long awaited release of the PMDG 777X, I have seen several people complain about low framerates. I for one, like most of us, am also experiencing a slight decrease of framerates compared to the NGX, however, FPS is still very acceptable and above 30 95% of the times. What kept attracting my attention was that people with nearly the same systems as mine were reporting much much lower framerates. They could be running different settings of course, but I don't believe everyone would deliberately run settings that would drop their FPS to 15. So I presume under quite a few FSX users here and there are not familiar with some tweaks that take FSX performance a whole new level. So I decided to make a little guide with two tweaks that you need, and if you don't already have them, will help you all massively.

The file that is going to be tweaked is called your fsx.CFG, it basically tells FSX what to do and is located in C:/Users/<name>/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX. Please open the file with Notepad.

Here are the tweaks that you should apply and I will explain in short what they do (please note I am not a computer expert).

Under [Graphics] add HIGHMEMFIX=1. This will make FSX more stable and will avoid screen corruptions.

If you don't already have a [bufferPools] entry, type one manually on top of all your fsx.CFG entries, and right under it add PoolSize=0. This tweak is in my opinion the holy grail of FSX's performance, because it will increase framerates by 30-50%.I presume the reason why people with similar systems as mine are reporting lower framerates is because they don't have this tweak applied, or at least, have other values for PoolSize. If you set higher values (not sure what values precisely) you are not going to see performance increase, however, stability will be increased.

But, as long as you have a balanced system, this tweak shouldn't cause any trouble at all, apart from a little bit of artifacting here and there at outside views. If you don't have a balanced system (i.e. good processor bad videocard) I discourage the use of this tweak because it makes FSX very unstable.

These two tweaks above, are basicall the only two must have tweaks for your fsx.CFG,

Trust me, people have been hacking away at fsx.cfg for YEARS! That and the tweaks you mentioned are kind of old news around these parts, I'm afraid.

In any case, configuring FSX is all about balance. Tweaks mean nothing in isolation. There are a number of comprehensive guides out there that can get people the performance they crave. I personally suggest Word Not Allowed's FSX/P3D Hardware and Software Setup Guide. NickN has a work in process as well. The Avsim "Official Guide" is yet another approach. Bottom line, there is MUCH more to consider. Look to these guides (choose just one and follow it to the letter, starting with a clean fsx.cfg) for setting FSX properly.

  3. But all the other FSUIPC things like buttons and other axisssssssss still function even though controllers is enabled. I'm not really sure, but does it even matter? The controls are so smooth in the 777 you don't even really need to use FSUIPC for smoothing etc.

I think the need for FSUIPC may be specific to the Warthog. In any event, I just got it to work by reseting all of the axes in FSUIPC. I also switched from "Aileron Set", "Elevator Set", "Rudder Set" and "Throttle 1+2 Set" to "Axis Aileron Set", "Axis Elevator Set" and so on.

Now, it's all working. If you ever find you need whatever it is that FSUIPC does, give that a try.

  4. I think enabling controllers again bypasses FSUIPC though. Not sure. Whatever not a huge deal.

Yes, I believe it does. Perhaps I'll try it anyway. Having the HOTAS Warthog kind of complicates things though. Fingers crossed.

  5. Same Problem here. Deleting the FSUIPC.ini and send the Throttle Axis direct to the FSX do not Fix the Problem.

I'm at work at the moment (bah!) and still need to give this a whirl, but my understanding is that we just need to let the FSUIPC.ini rebuild , and then we can reassign the axes and throttles through FSUIPC again. In other words, I don't think it needs to go through FSX. It sounds like the rebuilding is required because the ini gets corrupted somehow.

By the way, my throttles are working fine through FSUIPC.

  6. Looks like much more than that Trevor:

    From their website:

    • Improved 3D lights that perform even better FPS and more denser Vector Lights
    • Increased 3D lights size by 40% for further view distance and greater brightness (eventually we will release a 3D lights tuning app V2)
    • Edited 3D lights annotation for many urban textures previously missing lighting
    • Added intersection vehicle red tail lights, red/green traffic lights, and neon lights in commercial areas
    • Edits to autogendescriptions.spb to add missing compatibility for some SCO Scotland objects and also missing veg at KWYS
    • New landclass for the USA SW region to eradicate the "green deserts" and also add in the indigenous red desert in that region
    • New landclass for parts of Africa where pine trees are being shown instead of native African trees
    • FTX Global Uninstaller (already released separately) - http://www.orbxsyste...al-uninstaller/

Patch can be found here at the bottom of the first post:

    http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/64168-ftx-global-patch-110/

Looks like I'll be downloading that one for sure! Thanks.

  7. Hi.

I had exactly the same issue with my throttles (Hotas Warthog here).

Reading the Introduction PDF I saw that many of the issues with FSUIPC can be solved by deleting the FSUIPC.INI file and letting the program regenerate it again.

This did the trick for me. Problem solved.

    BR,

    GHNilson

I remember reading that. I was hoping to avoid having to delete the ini because I don't want to have to reconfigure all of the axis and button assignments in FSUIPC. Deleting the file deletes all of that, right?

  8. I had to re activate my FSX controls for instance to get my rudder to hold position and for my ailerons to work at all. I also had to reset my brakes function in FSUIPC. Other than that, nothing else changed in FSUIPC.

    Ed Zachery!

Interesting. It sounds like you had the same issue I'm having. I have no rudder or ailerons. Throttle and elevators work fine. I have everything mapped (but not calibrated) through FSUIPC. The rudder actually twitches for some reason on the flight controls page when I move the rudder axis on my Thrustmaster Warthog throttle quadrant. Hmm

When you say that you had to reactivate your FSX controls, do you mean you had to put a check in "Enable Controllers"?

  9. Curious how Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog owners have their stick and throttle setup with the 777. For some reason, I don't seem to have aileron or rudder authority, as evidenced on the flight controls page. I have the stick and throttle setup through FSUIPC (enable controllers unchecked in the FSX controls menu). Everything is working fine with other aircraft.

I read the manual quickly yesterday and didn't see anything on this (I did uncheck autorudder as directed, for what it's worth).

  11. I Just tried to print out the manuals for the B772LR, but it seem that only the Introduction and the tutorial are printable. Opening the other documents the printer symbol is greyed out. Does that mean we have to open these documents on an additional monitor or computer if we need them for reference, as printing doesn't seem to be possible?

I'm guessing this has to do with the license from Boeing. Copyright. Ain't it a pain?

Tried copying the FCTM to Google Drive. Wanted to look at it on my tablet as I flew. Well guess what, when you put it on Google Drive all the text disappears and a DRAFT water mark is put on every page. Nice unannounced security feature huh?

Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4

Unannounced but understandable as well. PMDG are dealing with the behemoth known as Boeing. This kind of inconvenient (not insurmountable) security is to be expected.

  12. Now, lets watch the pointless, dumb, ignorant, smart &@($* comments pile up because as we know everyone needs to give their input....

Face it. It costs too much to make everyone happy. PMDG didn't throw this together haphazardly. They actually put some thought into it, believe it or not--much more, I would say, than the people who keep popping up to tell the rest of us what the majority of us want.

  13. I am not a big fan of the VC either, but I stuck my 1st 777 landing at KEWR with a 16 KT crosswind. The reason I like the 2D better, is that the VC needs to be at 40% view and the damn runway seems so small.

But we have to live with the VC forever. No sense in beating a dead horse.

40%??!! No wonder the runway seems so tiny. You might as well be sitting in the cabin. Haha. In all seriousness, though, I can't understand why folks are using such zoomed out views in the VC. IRL the pilot's viewpoint is closer to the 90% setting. You shouldn't be able to look eyes forward and see the entire panel. It's just not realistic.

  14. For me I want 30 FPS because I run VSync which only works at 30 FPS, and imo it's a tweak I would never fly without because it takes FSX to a whole new level because of the zero microstutters.

That's not true at all. Let me guess, you're monitor has a 60hz refresh rate and you're using the 1/2 refresh rate setting in NI? That doesn't mean you need 30fps for Vsync though.

  15. Very nice my friend! Think you might've just won the T7 screenshot contest!

Welllll, not so fast. The great thing about this contest is that the screenshot has to be accompanied by a narrative. I think that will make this contest quite interesting.

    But, yes, VERY nice pic.

  16. Can we stop promoting this thread, The plane will be out when PMDG sees that it is fit for final release

On the contrary, I think we have a good dozen or so threads left up our sleeves.

I.e., we will stop promoting this thread when we see fit.

  17. Total War: Rome 2 was released today, as some of you are probably aware. SEGA and PMDG really need to do a better job of coordinating things. I have a job and a wife and kids, people!

Not to mention the impact on my wallet. FTX Global, PFPX, Rome 2, PMDG 777. Luckily my wife already forgot about the Majestic Q400.
