Steve's fixer and Carenado C172N nav and strobe lights
I have just purchased Steve's fixer and have everything working well. I do have one issue now however. After I installed my Carenado 172n all the lights worked fine, I believe the lights are supposed to have native support for dx10. I closed FSX. I entered the fixer controller to change something and it asked me if I wanted to scan the effects folder and fix problems so I did that. The next time I entered FSX and used my 172 my navs and strobes all had a squarish appearance to them. All the default aircraft I switched to were fine. So I reinstalled my 172 and when the fixer controller asked me if I wanted to scan the changes I selected ignore. Now everything works fine with my 172. So my question is, how do I prevent the fixer from "fixing" the lights on my 172 the next time I add another plane or scenery and it asks me to scan the effects folder?

FSX+TrackIR5+EZDOK=Awesome!
Finally broke down and bought Opus as well. You were right, way better than EzDok, and the weather engine is fabulous! Totally worth the $45 bucks I spent.

Some more questions...
Found this out the hard way today. I was coming in to KHQM cleared for the full approach ILS to rwy24. I broke out of the overcast at 700ft AGL to see an AI aircraft preparing to take off, not pleasant to go missed when using fscaptain and you're running against the clock. If I had some warning maybe I could have slowed my approach. This post answered my question, which was "Why no option to go to CTAF?". So basically when heading into an uncontrolled field under IMC, while shooting an approach, using radar contact, hope that there is no other traffic around. Please correct me if I am wrong. Yes, you would cancel your IFR flight plan on the ground with FSS. It is required. Also apparently this is not modeled. It's still far better than vanilla ATC. EDIT: After some research apparently you are not required to say a word at an uncontrolled field, so my experience today could have happened in the real world it seems even with the CTAF. Remind me not to fly into uncontrolled fields under IMC in real life, sheesh! Although I would think the traffic on the ground would not have been given their clearance until I cancelled. Maybe he thought he could maintain VFR with a 700ft ceiling. Alternatively, is it possible the traffic could have received an IFR clearance before I asked for clearance for the full ILS approach, but then shouldn't I have been denied until the traffic left the area.

FSX+TrackIR5+EZDOK=Awesome!
Looks like there is a demo, I'll have to check it out. Kinda hoping it isn't that much better because I really don't want to drop another $45 bucks. I also have ASE so I hope it's weather engine isn't better either,LOL.

FSX+TrackIR5+EZDOK=Awesome!
Sorry about that. Forgot to mention that EZDOK gives you that realistic head shake effect that makes you feel as the forces acting on the plane are affecting your head movements, which is awesome too. The two work well together.

FSX+TrackIR5+EZDOK=Awesome!
I'm sure some of you are already aware but this combination is awesome. I decided to finally plunk down the change to get Track IR 5. I had my doubts about buying it after fiddling around with the freeware versions and never getting them to work quite exactly the way I wanted. I would wonder how much better can Naturalpoint be? I also remember guys crying about Flight not having TrackIR support at first and thought "come on guys, it can't be that bad". Well I found out why today. I will never fly another sim again without this thing. I took my Bonanza up for a few touch and go's while using it for the first time and all I have to say is, wow! The movement is very precise. Being able to look into my turn then quickly scan my instruments or look over the panel without touching buttons is extremely immersive and convenient. I just wish I had saved myself the hassle and bought this thing a long time ago. So if anybody here had been thinking the same way I was, please do yourself a favor and buy it if you have the means.

Observation while flying into flytampa KMDW
I don't know if this can help anyone that is trying to fix this or it has been observed before, but I was passing over KMDW with flytampa scenery installed while coming into KORD. KMDW was its usual pitch black hole at night in DX10 mode, but for a split second all the runway lights appeared in all their glory. The only reason I am reporting this if it hasn't been observed before is that it reminded me of how you can't see beacon lights at certain angles on aircraft and if a fix for this is made it may fix flytampa scenery at night as well.

Considering pushing I7-3820 past 4.3
Stoli151 replied to Stoli151's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcSince I didn't get many replies I'll take your's as the general consensus. I guess since I'm satisfied with what I got, there's no point risking fouling up my hardware. Thanks.

Considering pushing I7-3820 past 4.3
I am considering pushing my 3820 past 4.3ghz. My question is, is it worth the hassle? I heard people get these things to a very stable 4.5-4.75, and even higher. Could someone give an honest opinion as to whether or not the performance gains in FSX are worth the hassle of messing with bclk's and voltages, or is going that high just for bragging rights? It's not like I'm not satisfied the way it is, but if I can get to some new plateau of performance by taking it this high, I will.

Another Airhauler question
You probably are right. I don't think either time I crashed my flight that Airhauler had given me the message box that it wants me to fly the sector. Without that message I am thinking the takeoff hadn't registered in Airhauler yet, and I managed to "get away with it". Thanks
-
Another Airhauler question
I crashed about 2 min after takeoff while flying some freight out to a destination. FSX restarted the flight like it normally would. The question I have is that Airhauler didn't seem to notice, why? My aircraft condition was still at 100% and it seemed like it was going to let me just restart the flight as if nothing happened. Is there a setting I may have wrong. If I do something like overspeed the aircraft I notice damage to the airframe after the mission is over, but when I do something catastrophic to not make my destination it seems not to notice.

What is not so good in Alaska Pack
If you are not satisfied with MS's product why are so many people continuing to buy? The only thing MS understands is $$$$$. There is money to be made with this community, just look at the prices people are willing to pay just for one quality plane to use with FSX. If MS is unwilling to give us what we want someone else will. I know nobody wants Flight to fail, but the changes it seems a lot of the community is looking for will not occur as long as the $$$$ keeps flowing in. I know I have not paid for any Flight's products, nor will I until they give me cockpits, real weather, ATC, AI traffic. Continuing to buy these products in the hope it will get better just doesn't make any sense IMHO. This post is not meant to insult, it is an appeal to stop sending MS $$$$ for something you are not satisfied with. I do understand that there are people that are satisfied with Flight in its current form and that's great, if you are one of those people, please ignore my post.

Anyone experienced with Airhauler and FSX?
Just one more question. Does weather affect your AI pilots? For instance if I had less than a mile vis at some grass strip(I use ASE) and I needed to get a load there, would I be better served to send an AI pilot and cheat a little or will I have to wait for better conditions. Or will AH not allow me to send the AI pilot?

Anyone experienced with Airhauler and FSX?
Thanks you've got a few of mine. But I just copied them all in case I get any of the other ones later. I know they have a thread on the Airhauler forum but you have to do some digging in there as well to get the stats you need. Didn't think of that one. Thanks!

Anyone experienced with Airhauler and FSX?
Thanks for the quick reply. That is a pain. I was just thinking I would add the them as I was ready to buy them, but if I did that, they would never show up as used aircraft. I guess I should at least hold on to the stats I found from now on. How important are the fuel consumption and range stats? Should they be pinpoint accurate or is "in the ballpark" good enough? Fuel consumption seems to be the hardest to find.

Anyone experienced with Airhauler and FSX?
I got Airhauler the other day and began the process of starting a company and importing my payware aircraft which was easy except for finding fuel consumption and range stats for each type. I then started another company only to find out that all of the planes I entered into Airhauler were no longer available and had to be reentered. Did I do something wrong? Is there a workaround that will keep me from reentering all this info every time I start a new company?

New NVidia 301.42 drivers!
Stoli151 replied to spilok's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI saw faster texture loading as well(much improved). Frames were slightly better but mine were always pretty decent. I would highly recommend upgrading to this driver.

Yummy Delicious Crunchy Munchy new drivers...
Edit: I noticed this was the MS flight forum. My apologies for posting my observation which was in FSX. Well if anyone in here is interested it did help my FSX install as described. Haven't tried it in Flight, however.

Yummy Delicious Crunchy Munchy new drivers...
It has appeared to solve these issues with mine as well. Frame rates seem about the same but with payware scenery I used to get a dark blue patch of blocks appearing over water as I panned around quickly that would fill in in a half second or so. That seems to be gone. Also I would get black blocks over PAPI lights or aircraft landing lights whenever panning around quickly that would also change back into "lights" after a split second. This seems to be gone as well. In general all ground textures seem to load faster.

Piston engine keeps dying
It sounds as if an incorrect mixture is the problem to me, as well. Check the "enable automixture" in the realism options, if you are still encountering the issue after that it's something else then. If the issue goes away, then it was indeed an incorrect mixture by you causing the problem.

What's the lowest FPS you accept?
I used to beat myself in the head thinking I needed to keep 60fps but after reading many posts and watching many you tube videos, I'd say anything above 20 with addons is great. Sometimes if the weather is good I can get over 30 with a payware plane and ORBX scenery. On default I can get over 50. On a typical day with heavy weather, payware planes and scenery and lots of traffic 20 is good. However, with my old budget lappy and low settings(default)I thought 15 was great, go figure.

Are you still hopeful?
"Are you still hopeful?", 2 words- Not anymore.

How do you rate the new Mitsubishi ?
Thanks for taking what I said out of context. If you read the rest of my post I said their priority should have been civilian aircraft. It would have made sense if we already had 20 or 30 aircraft already out. Again if I want to fly a Zero I'll do it in IL2. This is 2012 give me a VC. I can understand if you don't like flying from the VC. If they made one at least all of us would have had a choice on what view we wanted.
