    777 freezing

Having had the "freezes" together with FSX suddenly closing straight back to desktop, I changed the compatibility of the programme to run in Windows XP Service pack 3 (I am using Windows 8). This bought me the first stable non freeze flights in the PMDG 777. I also tried the unlimited frame rate suggestion as above and have so far had 2 non freezing flights. May be early days but I cannot remember not having a freeze and the last flight I did was KSEA to PHNL and lasted 5.5 hours. Hopefully this is not just a flash in the pan but it is better than I have had for a long time. Colin
  2. I have flown 10 hours as a max so far. Have to allow for the freezes though, I usually get 1 every hour after 2 hours flight and they can last up to 15 mins. Very annoying but still trying to find a fix as I do love flying this plane.

    777 freezing

Had a couple of weeks now after getting rid of the auto save feature and have to say things are just getting worse. Every flight now has a freeze of at least 5 mins but today was the very last straw. I had a freeze at 2000ft agl after take off, then after 2 hours in the cruise but worse was to follow. At about 400 miles from TOD the panel froze completely but the sim kept working and I was able to watch the clouds go by and even my destination went by me 38000ft below and I was powerless to do anything. As much as I love the T7, this is not fun anymore and I'm just getting wound up all the time. I won't be flying this anymore until there is a fix and I certainly would n't recommend this to anyone. BTW I repeated every flight that I did with the T7 with a default plane and had no issues, so I know where the problem is.

    777 freezing

Had this problem only recently but the last straw was yesterday when I took 4.5 hours to do a 3.5 hour flight, that is 1 whole hour of freezes, extremely frustrating. Did the same flight with the default 737 and had no issues at all, so it had to be something to do with the PMDG777. Checked this thread after noticing that in the 777 panel state there were approx. 60 saved panelstates and to my knowledge I only saved 1. So I went into FSUIPC (not sure this is even compatible with FSX but hey ho) and unchecked the autosave function, then deleted all of the saved panel states in the 777 Panel state folder (there were over 400 files in total) and tried again. Since then I have had no freezes - coincidence? Well I will keep flying and see what happens but I am certainly happier today than yesterday I can tell you especially after completing a 10 hour flight. Also noticed that no new panelstate saves were made. Will keep an eye on this issue. Colin
  5. I calibrated my Saitek yoke through its own software and have not through FSUIPC. I have tested by removing the FSUIPC ini file and find everything works perfectly. Pitch is approx. 2.5 nose up in level fight, wings don't wobble and I can now get up to proper speed and climb. Still need to read the manual to understand all the complexities of this machine but getting it working was stage one so now to fly this baby Colin
  6. Robert FSX works perfectly fine on windows 8, it is the older Saitek controllers that I have issues with. Before PMDG came along I was using mostly the 737 and the prop machines without any problems at all. Even installed FSgenesis and Flight1's ultimate terrain without any issues. The biggest problem I had was that the parking brake switch on the yoke kept failing so I needed to go into the settings and add it. No big deal but frustrating. When I read of the latest FSUIPC I thought it would solve my issue with the brakes, but I have spent all weekend trying to fix FSX after installing it, blooming thing. By the way, PMDG 777 installed perfectly and works okay apart from some minor issues which may or may not be windows 8 related, still trying to figure it out. Colin

    777 Rocking problem

I also get a rocking but this is where the wings constantly move up and down (waggling if you like), makes me feel quite airsick. Think it has something to do with the wing levelling value in the air.file or the .cfg file but not sure which. Will keep searching the forum to see what else turns up. Colin
  8. Just as an update I checked the value is the cruise_lift_scalar and it is set at 1.0. I have not amended this nor do I intend to until I find a bit more information about this issue, but fix it I will eventually. Colin
  9. Found this very interesting as I have so far carried out just 2 test flights and found that one both the angle of attack when at altitude hold is probably 5 degrees nose down (aircraft flying level). When I descend at say 800 to 1000 ft/min this goes to about 15 and looks like I am dive bombing even though the plane is n't. I have not looked at those values for the Cruise_lift_scalar yet as I have not really bothered with FSX (liked my PSS777 on FS9 but had to get a new system with windows 8 that it won't work on so here I am) but will have to give it a go as it is just so wrong. Incidentally, so far I cannot get it to go over 210 knots IAS so there must be a config setting for that too I think. Colin
  10. I have a Saitek Proflight yoke and rudders and have had the same problems as most of you chaps and just put it down to using windows 8. Usually everything is ok but every so often all the settings go haywire. Having seen posts regarding this, I have just recently installed the FSUIPC for FSX hoping the issue would be resolved but everything went from fairly bad to disastrous. Very little worked properly and when I got one issue solved, another that was okay went and broke. I have tried all the options above you have all proposed but none of them worked for me unfortunately. However, what I did do was to go into the Proflight yoke and rudder calibration settings and after a number of goes did finally get it to recognise my controllers. Everything works okay for me now (though this was okay before I installed FSUIPC) and am hoping it will stay that way. I know everyone has different systems so what will work for one may not work for another, but at least it is another thing to try. Just got to sort out my issues with my new 777 now Colin
  11. Dear all I have upgraded my pc to a new machine that is based on windows 8 64bit system. I have FS9 and FSX working ok but having tried to get the PSS777 reinstalled from my back up, none of the instrument gauges appear to work. Can anyone tell me if this is an issue with my new system, as I would like to fly this plane again and will purchase it again if necessary or if I have missed something in the back up process? Thanks in advance.
