So I guess there is no way to remove the white crosshair then? Oh well. Would have been nice to see wind direction and the panel at the same time. Shame.

Heads up display
Hi all. Searched the Internet and couldnt find an answer. I fly with the mouse and was wondering if there is any way to disable the huge white cross I see when the HUD is selected on? (Id like to use it for wind speed and direction). I'm not talking about the little white x that shows where your mouse is but the huge white + straight in the middle of the cockpit. Any config changes I can make? It's almost impossible to fly like that. Or perhaps a shortcut key to turn HUD on and off so I can glance at the wind speed/direction and then turn it off? Thanks for the help guys. Eric

TWO QUESTIONS
I know...I purchased it. When you look at the cargo missions....look at the photo...it's of a red/grey/white version that's not included. Also go to microsofts website and you can see plenty of pictures of the "3rd Maule paintscheme":-)

Avsim forums no long IPhone compatible.
yep used to work but now doesn't for my iphone 4s. All I get is "fatal error". It worked just fine yesterday. It was a nice format too.

TWO QUESTIONS
Well guys...thank you for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate it. The Maule M7 is definitily in "flight" though....its in all of the photos from microsoft's flight website and shows it IN flight. So who knows what happened to it. I just thought it was really sweet looking and thought maybe it's in an achievement I haven't yet unlocked. As for the weather...wow...what a shame. I would LOVE to have more presets like that. Microsoft did a tremendous job of layering in that ground fog into the mountains so well it's a shame it was implemented into a preset. All that work...just to have some background ambiance during a "landing challenge" seems like a waste to me. I would think that type of weather would be even more important with alaska soon on the horizon. Ok ...thanks again guys!!MJ_ERIC

TWO QUESTIONS
Hi guys/gals, TWO QUESTIONSQuestion 1 Has ANYONE unlocked the red/white/grey paint scheme Maule M7 that we see in so many of the photos of flight? Even in game it's in all the photos of the cargo missions. When do you unlock it? What do you have to do?Question 2On one of the Maule M7 landing challenges (3,4,5?) there is fog that just creeps between the fingers of the mountains, it's like a light morning mist. You have to land in what looks like a crater. My question...which weather scenario is that? Is it one I can select in Free Flight? Right now "dense fog" is MUCH more hardcore IFR than what is in the landing challenge.

Maule M7 paint schemes
Hi guys/gals I noticed while looking at the job board that there was a photo of a red and white Maule M7. I WANT ONE:-)Is it unlockable? Does anyone know where to look for an unlock guide? For instance I see the achievment guide but I'm a "private pilot" in flight now and wanted to know if there were any levels above that and when they are unlocked. Same with aircraft paint schemes etc. Thanks everyone,Ericps i'm level 11

need help understanding how to use mixture control
Hi guys,For the Maule M7...Once up above 5000 feet or so just look to the right of the manifold pressure gauge. The right half of that gauge will be a fuel flow type gauge. Bringing the mixture back you will see this gauge begin to drop. When this happens your effectively increasing your engines performance at that altitude. Now...as you continue to bring it back you'll see that the needle drops but eventually begins to climb again. This is where you stop pulling the mixture back. You want to pull it back far enough to see the needle drop then slowly begin to rise again......you stop moving the mixture control and push it forward just a few more percent. You want to be on the "too much fuel" side of the bell curve as opposed to the "not enough fuel" side. So pull it back slowly...watch the needle drop and then when it begins to turn direction and climb stop pulling the mixture.Another thing to mention. And perhaps someone can correct me, but on the Maule M7 in flight setting the mixture via auto-checklist produces a much leaner mixture...about 15.6 gallons per hour than what it should be leaned too according to the gauges behavior. Just a simple observation i've made.Hope i've been able to explain it a little....been a while since i've used a real one.MJ_ERIC

Absolutely great sim
Thanks Stephen...i've downloaded airplanes here for at least ten years but that was my first post. Even if your not into making it a career, the sim is great. And for those who have progressed...its a great way to feel that first excitement all over again.MJ_ERIC

Absolutely great sim
Hi all,I know "Flight" has received a lot of flak but I just wanted to put my two cents in. I downloaded this within the first few minutes of it being available and purchased the hawaii expansion pack as well as the Maule M7. I am currently 33 and fly an Airbus 320 for a major airline here in the US. I my point is..... I haven't had this much FUN playing a flight sim since I was 12 years old and had a new copy of MS Flight sim on my fathers computer. I remember those days....flying around boxed default scenery at Miegs (SP?) field in Chicago. My mother would always scream at me when she came home from work "Stop wasting your time!!!", "All you do is sit at that computer and play that stupid game!". I distinctly remember saying back one day...."Hey Mom!...One day I'm going to do this for real!!!". Of course at the age of 12 to 14, those words fell on deaf ears. But here I am, years later, and in fact.... I need to get to bed. I'll have 150 passengers behind me on what I'm sure will be a packed flight to Denver Colorado tomorrow morning. I have spent countless hours on MS Flight sims, purchasing the newest copy each time it came out.....only to learn like many of you that it would take years to upgrade my computer to be able to run it. But they always sat on my shelve waiting for that hardware upgrade, and were always the first program on any new machine I purchased. As far as "Flight" goes, I haven't had this much fun and nostalgia since I began flight training at the local FBO 15 years ago. The graphics are superb and after an hour or so with my baseline logitech joystick I opted to commit a major sin in the flight sim world.....I switched to the mouse....I've flown with yokes....ram's horn's and even a sidestick on the airbus for the last five years and I'm absolutely loving the mouse controls. The rudder is a bit different..having to tap it continuously to provide the needed pressure for those crosswind landings but the cross controls in this sim are the best I've experienced so far. You can't do a full slip in the Maule M7 due to a bit of auto rudder in the sim but you can get pretty close. Other things I love.... The terrain and the density altitude complicating those high mountain takeoffs...especially with the cargo on those cargo missions. Turbulence is also modeled quite well on the moderate weather conditions. And of course...clouds near mountains...quite dangerous and modeled very well. Ok enough rant. I just thought I would put my two cents in. I honestly wish I was off tomorrow to play more of flight and enjoy the scenery. Flying the airbus is great and so is the career, but you never forget those student pilot days and that excitement. I've felt that again with flight. I'm sure someone will pick this up just as I did 15 years ago. For those of you new to the flight simming community....welcome!!! ...and enjoy it!!!Fly safe everyone,MJ_ERIC
