  1. Thanks much. Could you please share / snapshot rest of your graphics settings.
  2. I have an RTX 3080 and had the same issue with heat and power draw. I don't have those issues anymore after undervolting the card to run at 850mV at max boost clock limited to 1800 MHZ. Try it, it's simple. All you need is MSI Afterburner app (works with any brand) and guides are available on Youtube. Create a profile and set it to load when you run MSFS. Performance hit from undervolting is negligible. But the power and heat reduction is huge.
  3. Congratulations on your new build. Like others have pointed out I would recommend that you check the RAM for AMD EXPO profiles compatibility (check logo on box) and get a 6000MHZ capable one with CL 30 latency. I myself have just upgraded my PC to a spec similar to yours last week albeit with an older RTX 3080 and a GB X670 Gaming AX V2 motherboard. 4. Just done building the new PC and I'm thrilled with the performance in FSX. Haven't overclocked yet, so there's still room for improvement. What I got - intel i7 2600K Processor Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler Asus P8Z68-V_GEN3 Motherboard 8 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM nVidia 560 GTX reference gfx card Cooler Master HAF912 Case Samsung 830: 128 GB SSD <------ super awesome, best upgrade in 24 years Gigabyte Green 750W Power Will upgrade to a 23" LG IPS LED soon (Currently on 22" LCD) Exisiting drives: WD Raptor for FS; 1TB + 2TB WD Green drives for data (a.k.a. p0rn) The total amount spent was in excess of $ 1400. Since I am the project manager on this job, I will be firing myself for the budgetary over-run :D
  5. Thanks. Quite flexible, lol, but I don't really want to spend a lot for maybe 10% more performance. I'm looking for the minimum that will give me a stutter free smooth FSX experience with constant 30 fps or more. I'm not building a complete kit, just upgrading. I might need a PSU though. Currently I have GB Odin GT 550W. Will this suffice considering I have 3 HD's (150gb raptor x, 1tb and 2tb wd green drives) and an optical drive? http://rbmods.com/gi...in-gt-550w-psu/ Will a GTX 570 be enough. I'm not a gamer. What's the advantage of 580 over say a 570 or 560 in FSX?
  6. I've been out of the hardware game for a long time. Looking to buy an i7 2600K + some Z68 mobo + few sticks of RAM + 5X0 GTX card. This looks like what most of you peeps are using anyway. I'm starting with an arbitrary budget of USD 800 (flexible). What would be the best combo with the most fluid FSX experience at this price point? PS: Will be using it for - PMDG 737NGX, REX, GE Pro (or is it X), and a few airport addons. Cheers, Keith
  7. Does it have a fully functional MCDU?
  8. Here, try this -http://www.simforums.com/forums/fsx-and-nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated_topic36586.html
  9. Thanks for those links. Yeah I do run a dated system (was state of the art in FS2004 days ;) ). Its an Intel Quad core, with nVidia 8800GTS. Will have a play around with FSX and see how it goes.
  10. Wow! That looks likes a pretty comprehensive list. Thanks a lot mate.
  11. Feels good to be back! It's been years since I last "flightsimmed". Stopped sometime after FS X came out. In the FS 2004 days I had a list of must haves - ActiveSky, Ground Environment, various Flight1 addons, PMDG 747, Leveld 767 etc.Just dusted my CH yoke and pedals and I'm in the process of hooking them up and in installing FSX (or should I stick to FS 2004).Would appreciate your input on the current "must have" patches, addons and improvements. In the last 20 mins I have found PMDG 737 NGX :)I particular I'm looking for -Weather addonLandclass, ground texturesWater textures and Sky / CloudsLightsATC chatterFramerate inmprovementsCheers,Keith
