Steam discounts and new hardware recommendations
Jim F. where are you seeing the new specs? I look on microsoftflight.com and still see the old specs. Don B. I see you went from a 1GB 460 to a 2GB 560 ti. How many monitors and what resolution are you using? What did the extra 1GB give you? I am trying to decide between a 560 ti 448 or a 560 ti 2GB. I am leaning towards the 448, but am not sure if it would come up a little short for 2 monitors at 1920x1080. Kevin

i5-661 Integrated Graphic Upgrade
Balanced Load replied to Balanced Load's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcThanks for the input.Yes the RAM is cheap enough to not give it anymore thought.I was ready to pop on a 2G GTX 560 ti when my 11 year old son said he really would like to try a setup with 3 monitors. I have been leaning away from Radeon because of the Nvidia bias and my preference to a single larger monitor. But since he uses it far more than I do, I had better do a little more homework.Kevin

i5-661 Integrated Graphic Upgrade
I am currently using an I5-661 with integrated graphics, and am looking for a reasonable upgrade. I am fairly new to FSX, so I am not ready to build a new system yet. A new system should happen later in the year, but I would like to bump up this config now for a more enjoyable experience while I figure out what I want later.Current configuration:I5-661 @ 3.3Ghz stock cooler using Intel integrated graphics4GB DDR1333Two 1920x1080 monitorsWin 7 Pro 64bitI am looking to add a video card, overclock the CPU, and add an additional 4G RAM as this seems a reasonable compromise.Possible upgrades:Video: GTX560 ti, but am not sure which version. 1GB or 2GB. Other posts suggest that 2GB is needed for multi-monitors. I have 23" monitors, but would like to go somewhat larger. RAM: Would adding 4GB of DDR3 1333 make a difference?CPU: I understand that CPU speed is paramount, but I have not overclocked before. Would OC'ing this CPU be worthwhile? Any CPU cooler recommendations? Thanks for providing any critiques/comments.Kevin
