  1. Hi Dave, I am getting a new machine next week. Is there anything I need to do on the old machine to deactivate the current license? or is everything done from the new machine? thanks, Mike
  2. I have done many flights in V3 and always get good taxi guidance in the text - like this: ATC Speaks: Blue Streak five three one niner Runway One Eight Left, taxi via Mike, Charlie, Charlie One Two, Hold short runway One Eight Left However, on very rare occasions in the past (1 out of 20 flights?), I also got the taxi path showing up in the rounded rectangles section of the UI (upper right). I haven't seen that for some time now. Is there some option or condition that allows the taxi path to also appear in the upper right information section? Mike
  3. Hi Ron, I think I got it figured out. I created a VOR to VOR route instead of GPS direct route this time. I also configured RC4 with an alternate airport that had an RNAV procedure. Once again, when I was 4mi from the destination airport, RC asked me if I had the airport in sight or if I needed an instrument approach. Since the airport does not have any instrument approaches (as per skyvector), I told RC that I needed to land at my alternate. I was handed off from center to approach and vectored to intercept the approach course of my alternate. Since my alternate was also uncontrolled, radar contact was terminated once I intercepted the approach course. I was able to do the RNAV approach, spot the field, and land. thanks for the help, Mike
  4. I was using RC4 to fly IFR between uncontrolled airports. The destination airport had no tower or approach. When I was 4 miles out and at 5000ft, Center told me where I was and said something like "what'll it be...". My options were: missed approach, IAP, Visual. I was in IMC, so I couldn't choose visual. The airport had no instrument approaches, so I couldn't choose IAP. I chose missed approach, but that didn't help - I think my choices then were Hold or IAP. I finally chose IAP and used the GPS to not hit mountains while I descended below the clouds. So, did I miss an option for center to vector me in? Or is that kind of thing not done? (I'm not a pilot and have no idea). Perhaps I'd need to divert to a controlled airport in the real world? BR, Mike
  5. Hi Ron, Thanks for the reply. I must admit that I'm guilty of deleting BEKAH from my flightplan. When I fly without ATC and use 10L, on this route, it's always never reached. I'll keep it in and hopefully it will make the approach less straight in. I also flew into KMIA with RC and it was amazing. I turned up the AI to 95% and I have a lot of AI loaded into WOAI. While on the downwind I saw 3 AI flights on final. By the time I was cleared to land, all 3 were down and clear of the runway. Amazing! After being put on the left downwind, I was vectored away from the airport to the right for a while, before being vectored back in. I'm not sure if that is normal procedure for RC if it has the smarts to delay me in order to sequence me into traffic. Whatever the reason, it worked out very well - so much better than the usual FS9 go-around. Mike
  6. If I request an IAP, I'm guessing that RC stops watching me until I'm on final. In the IAP case, does RC do anything to keep AI traffic out of the way and avoid go arounds?
  7. I just bought RC today. My first flight was KTPA to KPBI using the plan: GANDY6 SABEE RSTAA WLACE2 I put the WLACE2 STAR waypoints into the flightplan so that I could fly the STAR until the vectoring started. Before I reached GULLO, the last waypoint, I was vectored at 130 for RWY 9L. The approach should have been almost perfectly straight in from where I was. I assumed that eventually, I would be turned back towards the runway. Then RC forgot about me :( and I eventually turned around and asked for a visual approach. I saw this post: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/439812-radar-contact-straight-in-approaches/, but wasn't sure what to do. So, what is the solution in order to get a vectored approach to succeed? WLACE2 is the correct STAR. Should I not include all of the STAR in the flightplan? If my last waypoint were BOBIO, which is further out, would I be vectored from there? thanks, Mike
  8. I cannot install voxatc to try the demo. It says that FSX SP2 is required even though I have SP2 - sort of... I have SP2 installed, but I had to do it via "msiexec /a" and some file copying. SP2 refused to install normally - but it works. I have other add-ons, like the ifly-737 that require SP2 and they work. Everything from SP2 is there, including simconnect. Is there something simple that the voxatc install checks for in order to detect SP2? Is there a registry entry that I can add or a file I can edit to get past the SP2 check? I am running windows-7 enterprise 64-bit. thanks, Mike
