  1. Can someone report back a before and after of VAS usage with EGLL?

    Done as per insturctions -

    Addons used in my scenario:

    FTX Global

    FTX Vector

    FTX OpenLC Europe

    FS Global Mesh

    REX4 1024 (32 bit) sky textures

    Majestic Q400 v1.011

    No traffic

    Midday sim time

    autogen to very dense

    scenery complexity to maximum

VAS results - monitored with Process explorer

    2.4Gb without Aerosoft EGLL Xtended

    2.9Gb with Aerosoft EGLL Extended

So based on my sim settings the new EGLL uses approx 500mb of VAS

  2. We've been waiting for what we reckon is a stable and reasonably lasting P3d version and the number of customers wanting a proper conversion has increased in the last month or so. It is true that some of our products work ok, but with limitations on our special effects which are a very important part of the Legacy and Dukes. We've finally found a way around these limitations so we feel reasonably confident we can produce decent P3d installers for our aircraft.

There will be a small charge for this, because we have invested quite a long time in finding solutions for the current limitations, and of course existing customers will need whole new downloads on top of our generous re-downloading/re-install allowance. Bandwidth and web costs are always rising and we feel it is fair to ask for a commensurate fee.

We'll also be working on the GTN gauge integration as a further option to the current RXP integration, but we are unclear yet as to how we will work this (whether it will be for P3d only or also for FSX customers). We'll try to do both but we need to keep our costs down to avoid charging more than a nominal fee to cover them.

We will be announcing all this shortly on our webpage, together with a decision about the C172.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Best Wishes,

I want to marry this comment and lots of little baby comments with it!!!

    Realair in P3D v2 = awesome sauce!!!

  3. Hi,

Anyone know where if any ORBX may have a list of those regions and airports which have an installer for p3d v2.2. or v2.3, or their infamous triple installer. I found a forum which lists updates but I cannot find a distinct list.

    Bob

Every Orbx product that can currently be installed into Prepar3D v2 is listed in this thread:

    http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/68566-master-list-of-all-p3d2-ready-orbx-products/

  4. Just done a clean install of 2.3

A quick and dirty test (completely default) with pretty much all settings maxed @1400p I can definitely notice a decent improvement.

Much smoother as the FPS fluctuates from lower to higher.

Just messing around for about 30 mins or so and the most obvious improvements to me are cloud shadow performance and night lighting realism.

  5. Considering how tiny the P3D user base is, relatively speaking, LM must be presenting quite a case (possible of cash) to nvidia to get SLI support.

Probably just threatened them...."If you don't give P3D SLI support we're sending some JDAM laden F-35's over to your offices!!!"

  6.  I typically don't like making platform comparisons but folks seem intent on it.

    Cheers, Rob.

I don't understand it either Rob, it turns into a pissing contest with a "my sim is better than your sim" attitude.

If a simmer is happy with what they are running (FSX/P3D/XPLANE) then just get on with it quietly and enjoy it.

  7. The wait for a new PC is torture! It's been two weeks now, but hopefully I should be getting it this week. It is apparently in testing, so fingers crossed! I will make a final decision regarding P3D when it arrives, but the chances are high that I will be forking out another $60

    It's only £35 after conversion!

If you don't like it there is a no quibble 90 day refund policy

  8. I responded to THIS post "beta 2 testing", I don't live to wait for your posts, I stumbled on this one and my response is what I would tell you to your face. You can call it a "test" all you want but its not a true test, it is just flying around in an obvious high FPS/smooth area. Do this same test with the F22 at high speed all around New York with full sliders and  prove my "(mis)information" wrong. You should save your breath trying to make me look wrong with a bunch of big words.... show us a video proving me wrong do a vid in NYC *full sliders* since beta 2 is so great....you will see how correct my information is.

Calm down princess....we're only discussing flight simming  :P

  9. My motherboard and GPU failed together a week ago, so I am currently waiting for a new PC to be built. That being the case, I am seriously considering taking this opportunity to move over to P3D. Is there an expected release date for version 2.3? I think it would be sensible to wait for the release of this version before purchasing, so that I don't have to update very soon after that. Can anyone tell me if the following addons work fine in version 2.2?

    Quality Wings 146

    RealAir Duke/Turbine Duke

    Aerosoft Dublin X

    Flight1 Ultimate Traffic 2

I see that there is a thread regarding the latter on one of the forums here, but I just wanted to make sure that it can be installed and used in P3D (including PowerPack updated schedules and repaints) without any kind of link to FSX. If I decide to purchase P3D, then it will be a 100% commitment (ie. FSX will not be installed).

Does P3D come with an SDK? I want to be able to use Airport Design Editor, since I am a "fiddler" when it comes to AFD files

QWSim 146 works perfectly - point the installer to the P3D directory during the install. There is also a P3Dv2 compatible version of their dispatch tool for setting pax/fuel loads and installing new liveries.

RealAir Duke v2 works perfectly using the latest 'development build' of the Flightsim Estonia migrator tool, if you install it without the migrator tool it will still work but some of the custom sound (flaps. cockpit switches etc) wont work.

Aerosoft Dublin has a native P3Dv2 installer and works perfectly.

I currently use Ultimate Traffic 2 as my traffic addon for P3Dv2. I'm running UT2 version 2.09 with the latest schedules installed - I have GA traffic disabled and airliner traffic set at 60%. Sat on the ramp at Flytampa Vienna during the afternoon in the Majestic Q400 switching UT2 on and off I see a drop of roughly 4-5 fps with my settings.

You have to mess around with it a bit to install it but it works just fine if you follow this guide:

    http://forum.avsim.net/topic/444156-ultimate-traffic-2-in-p3d-step-by-step-guide-without-migration-tool/

I have (and use) all the addons above in P3Dv2 so you can trust me on those ones. And I don't have FSX installed anymore :D

  10. Maybe no one else will see this due to different PC setups...

Affinity=15 uses all 4 cores and is useful in reducing some stuttering.

This setting usually shows very high core-0 usage compared to the other cores. However, if you start P3D with Affinity=15 (all on), then using the Task Manager turn off core -0. Next turn core-0 on.I now see a balanced core usage and not the usual very high core-0 usage I saw with core-0 turned on.

Simply put start P3D with all cores, turn off core-0, turn on core-0 and see balanced usage.

    The effect is unknown.

    You Sir, are a genius!

Who knows why this works...but boy does it!

    What a difference

    Nice one! :D

  11. What's the performance of the Duke like?  Did you use the migration tool to get it installed?

I found the performance of the Duke B60 v2 comparable or slightly better in V2.2 (than FSX) - Only drawback is the customs sounds don't work (gear, flaps, switches, wind noises), but it flies just fine!

And yes I used the migration tool to install it

  12. Hi Guys,

Well after extensive testing I can safely say that it is definitely cloud shadows that cause my performance issues.

I done a complete win 7 and P3D reinstall with no addons at all.

I can crank virtually every setting in P3D v2.2 to maximum and still achieve pretty fluid flight, but as soon as I activate cloud shadows (even at lowest setting) my performance drops through the floor and P3D turns into a juddering stuttering mess and MSI afterburner shows constant 100% GPU usage on my GTX 780.

I're also tried vastly reducing all my other settings to compensate but nothing seems to work - as soon as I activate any cloud shadows with a decent number of clouds in the sky my GPU usage goes to maximum and P3D tanks!

Obviously the amount of clouds and particular weather also contribute to this, but anything more that slightly broken cloud coverage renders P3D unsuable...shame as it looks so nice.

Can anyone recommend some Nvidia Inspector Settings that work well with v2.2

    Thanks
