  1. Anyone else running ASN on a networked PC?

It was working perfectly on 2.4 and now I am getting the "Activesky cannot control the ambient error" message within the first 30 seconds or so

    Richard

ASN requires an update from the developer to be compatible with P3Dv2.5 - patience!

  2. I wouldn't bother. I've got rid of P3D and gone back to FSX for flight simulation. Sick of having to reinstall P3D each time they "update" it. Life is too short etc.

Much smoother and less buggy now in FSX DX10 mode.

P3D is just FSX with shadows. I can live without shadows. I want a flight simulator not a shadow simulator.

Good luck if you decide to try it!

    Aahahahhahah! Aahahhahahaha.

Useless trolling comment of the day award goes to this guy

    Plonker!

  3. I also suffered from bad stuttering when I moved over to P3Dv2 - turned out it was my overclocked cpu.

I was running my 4670K @ 4.6Ghz, it was stress test stable and temps were OK.

I lowered the overclock to 4.4Ghz (didn't change ANYTHING else), restated the system and fired up P3D - no more stutters!

I think what was happening is that my overclock was so high (for my particular chip) that it was causing CPU errors and the processor was constantly error correcting, thus causing stutters in the sim.

I noticed your running a 4.7Ghz overclock, dial it back a little and see if it helps. Maybe down to 4.2 - 4.4Ghz, also make sure your ram is using an XMP profile and has plenty voltage (usually 1.65v)

  4. Before I moved to Goflight panels, I had issues with my Saitek proflight panels (multi & switch) on USB3.0 ports. I seem to remember something on the saitek support website saying that you should use USB2.0 ports for saitek kit if possible?

  5. Unless you are in a hurry I'd hang off a couple of months to see the newer cards. It looks like AMD are set to release the Radeon 300 series cards soon, so it would be safe to assume that Nvidia's new cards wont be far behind.

Speculation is that Nvidia's new top end cards will come in the guise of GTX980Ti and Titan 2 (or something to that effect).

I'm also running a 4K screen, with a GTX780, and very much looking forward to the new Nvidia cards.

  6. Any progress over at Iris now..?

A little progress yes, new "improved" yokes are slowly starting to make their way into the hands of customers.

But the latest upset is that customers who only placed their orders recently (at the much higher price) are receiving their units before those who purchased a kickstarter or pre-order. I'm assuming this is due to customers getting anxious over the problems and starting to ask for refunds.

I ordered at the pre-order stage ($800 Canadian + shipping) in July last year; a recent email from Iris said I would have my yoke sometime this month.....but I'm not holding my breath!!

And there is very little in the way of pro-active communication from Iris - hopefully they are just too busy building yokes!!

  7. Welcome to the 4K revolution! Running P3Dv2 on a Philips BDM4065UC here.

Well I'm thinking the ultra wide 21:9 34" monitors may be the way to go.  No bezel issues, less desk real estate involved and they are easier to 'drive.'

    Just my 2 cents.   <_<

I tried the LG 34UM95 screen before I got the Philips 4K - whilst it was a nice experience and did provide some of that "widescreen" feeling, the lack of vertical height of the 21:9 ration just didn't work for me at all.
