  1. Hi Oliver...thanks for the prompt and detailed reply.... Sounds like I've got some work to do....had a little trouble with the suggested Lorby install location, but once I changed the installation location, it went through...I now will read the manual so I'll hopefully know what to do next...   2. I am using P3D 4.5 on a gaming computer... I have all my addon scenery in one main folder on my "C" drive ("Folder") that is separate from the folder on my "C drive where P3D resides....the add-on sceneries are, for the main, in subfolders (in the Folder) that may have additional subfolders, such as "scenery" and textures"...In the Scenery Library portion of P3D, I have designated the Folder as an addon scenery item and have activated the Folder into the scenery library ..is this sufficient, or much I separately add each of the subfolders in the Folder as addon sceneries?   3. Hi Alex....further testing has shown me that the feature is somewhat limited...but better than nothing... I have almost no rudder control when using my Xbox controller....not sure why...but I did find that keyboard rudder control works pretty well...so now I use it , in conjunction with my Xbox controller, to take off and it really makes a difference...

Why is this important?:...if you, like me, have trouble getting prop planes to take off straight down the runway instead of veering left, then this might help… How does it work?:…simply turn off all rudder control on your controller…might not also hurt to turn off any keyboard rudder settings…if you do this, XP will attempt to control the rudder for you…It’s not perfect, but it helps a bunch on the takeoff issue…the downside is you forfeit manual rudder control…not a big loss for me as I never could get any effective rudder control with my controller anyway…I use a Xbox controller...old school...   6. Howdy...I am using XP 11.26 on a powerful gaming computer running under Windows 10... My ultimate problem is that nearly all prop planes ver left on takeoff...I understand why that happens... I need to use more rudder...my Xbox controller does fine, but I cannot get any rudder movement on my planes... I have set the controller to use separate buttons/levers to control the rudder...in XP setup, the levers work on the setup page...the blue lines move back and forth... but when I fly, the rudder on the plane hardly moves, if at all...thus no rudder control to use on takeoff... I also fly with P3D4.4 with the Xbox controller with no problems and great rudder control... Any help on this issue would be appreciated...... Thanks, John H.

  8. I am lucky to be upgrading to a new gaming computer...I will have to do a clean install of P3D....if a new version is on the horizon, I'd rather wait for it...does anyone know if such a new version is coming soon... Thanks, John H.
  9. Hi BigSky...thanks for the reply... I forgot to mention that I have this installed...and through "operator error" didn't think it worked w/o Orbx scenery installed...but your post made me read manual again... FTX Central says it's installed correctly....I see the FTX AI planes in my Airplanes folder..in FTX Central I have it full on and I think my Scenery/World/scenery reflects that.... Still no planes on ground at KBOS...any thoughts? I know I should ask over at Orbx and I will if you have no advice...sometimes they are slow.. Thanks, John H.
  10. I am using P3D 4.0 on a gaming computer using Windows 10... I do not, that I can tell, have any static AI aircraft at airports or in flights...is there a way to tell about flights?.... All I want is a few static or moving aircraft at airports in North America that I visit...I do not need AI planes making flights all over the world...I have my P3D traffic sliders set to at least 50%...I get nothing...I don't have an AI traffic programs that I know of.... I have read this blog entry and tried most of the tips shared there... Is there any solution other than purchasing Ulitmate Traffic Live?...it is way more than I need or want... Thanks for any help... John H.
  11. Thanks for all the replies...I think Dave has "hit the nail on the head"...the subfolder "effects" has many fewer files than are in the root of the "Effects" folder... I think we can consider this topic "solved"... John H.

In my ver 4 "Effects" Folder I have a subfolder called "effects"....it has many ".fx" files....the main "Effects" folder has many additional ".fx" files in it that are not in the "effects" subfolder, or any subfolder at all....should those ".fx" files be in the "effects" subfolder?... Any help appreciated... John H.

Hi Caleb...I'm for simple solutions... just copy an FSX mission or two over to your P3D4 "Scenarios" folder and into the "Emergency" subfolder....then see if they come up in the Scenarios list and, if so, try to run them...I have found many work great... you may have to change the aircraft you use, as P3D4 may not recognize the FSX specified aircraft...
  15. Thanks Glen for your reply...to be sure we're on the same page..I'm using the current version of XP 11... I have placed my "add-on" planes in the "Aircraft" sub-folder...is that the correct folder to use?...I have an add-on plane called the Stinson L-5g ...it shows two liveries in the Liveries folder ....for fun I deleted/transferred those liveries to another folder outside of XP...the plane still shows up with three instances under Flight Configuration...is that what's supposed to happen?... And, I tried your "Regenerate Icons" tip...it did not help, probably becasue many of my add-on planes with multiple liveries show up under the Flight Configuration with a "?"......can that be cured? Sorry for all the questions...I'm new to XP.....steep learning curve... Your thoughts appreciated... John H.

Thanks Martin...pretty simple it seems...is there a way to "comment" a livery out so that it remains in the Livery folder but aren't read by the program?....for example if the Livery is called "Black and Gold," just rename it "XXBlack and Gold"? Another question if I might....I have installed several airplanes in the "Aircraft" folder....they show in the Flight Configuration Window but not all the liveries....what has happened?..   17. Newbie to XP...old hand at P3D... Many XP planes come with several paint schemes... Many times all I want is 1-2 variants showing in the Flight Configuration window....how to disable a plane variant without deleting the base plane and have the variant ready to reactivate if I want? I've looked on the web but just can't find an intelligent explanation... Any help appreciated.. John H.

  19. Thanks Mike...didn't think of that .... Another, perhaps simpler question to all who may see this...... How do you (if you can) comment out an aircraft which has a folder under "SimObjects?" I tried using "XX" before the aircraft folder name (i,e., "XXBeech Duchess"), but that does not seem to work...the aircraft still shows in the list of planes...thought of "//" but you can't rename a folder using "//"... Why do I want to do this?...I have a lot of aircraft....takes a long time to load....sometimes I'd like to "temporarily disable" an aircraft but leave itsre folder in SimObjects to use at a future time... Anyone have any thoughts?... Thanks, John H.

Hi there Simon and Marteen...thanks for your replies and concerns....I am an organizational freak with many aircraft...the only way I can keep them all in mind and organized is to put them in separate folders under SimObjects.... Marteen...your instructions are spot on and work beautifully ....P3D4 (as well as the earlier version s of P3D) are robust and can be modified/customized when approached carefully... Cheers, John H.
  21. I'd like to change the name of sub-folder "Rotorcraft" under the "SimObjects" folder to "Rotorcraft and Sailplanes".......tried a simple Microsoft explorer rename, but P3D4 would no longer see the folder and the objects within it when P3D4 ran..... Any help appreciated... Thanks, John H

I too have installed the latest "hot fix" to P3D4 I appreciate your help on this issue....QILS is a very helpful program...   23. Thank you for your reply...just saw it... I am running both P3D3 and P3D4 (hereafter D3 and D4).... Both D3 and D4 installed in my "E" drive... QILS runs under D3 but not D4.... FSIUPC installed and recognized in both D3 and D4....when attempting to run under D4, get error message: "FSUIPC Initialization Error 9...Subscript out of range" Where do you have QILS installed?...in the P3D main folder or outside P3D?....if in a P3D main folder, D3 or D4?...I know how to use "Preferences" to locate "Make Runways" and can easily find the file in D4 main program folder... I appreciate any help or observations you may have... Thanks, John H.
