  1. Hi Kyle, I really appreciate your replies; thank you. No, I haven't saved any panel states yet. I did look up the issues and saw people said you should leave the throttle managed by FSX. I haven't done this for two reasons: 1) I am trying to prevent joystick disconnect, so would assume I wills till get a throttle disconnect (on an X52 system); 2) I didn't know how to do this! (keep the throttle as managed by FSX, not FSUIPC
  2. Re-loaded a/c and it's fine again. So far not replicated. Engine oil temp is sky high again though?
  3. Thanks Kyle. Hmm. Seems like it's an a/c issue rather than hardware, since it is taking the input, but doing nothing with it.
  4. Dear all; Recently set up FSUIPC to manage my controls and have been taxy-ing around testing it. Engine oil overheated during my tests and both engines failed (no idea why? Automatic failure?) I cleared failures in the FMC. 2 questions- is there a failure rate programmed into PMDG 777? 2) Most important: I throttle up both engines- and on the EFIS it shows my thrust setting on both, but only the right engine spools up. The left engine is running, however, The left engine is also showing an amber light on 'bleed air' Any thoughts?
  5. Hi All, I have used FSUIPC to link the controls. So far so good, but just testing still. I find, when I first move the control, say to bank- it will jerk badly, but then settles. Turn the other way- same thing- the control 'jumps' then settles. Any thoughts? I have tried re-calibrating many times. Best wishes
  6. Hi 77West Thanks for your comment. So you do have the j/stick d/c, but only in certain situations? I.e. going from win-full scrn? I have no idea how to proceed. Maybe there's a way to re-connect them in-flight?
  7. Argh I was really hoping to avoid going back to Win 7. Work, etc is more important as I work from home, and I'm not sure what it would mean to downgrade to Win 7. I found it very very slow. Does anyone else have any tips? I heard FSPUIC could be used to control joysticks, but Pete Dowson has said that he doesn't see how that can be the case. It isn't a feature of FSUIPC as it uses the FSX architecture to manage the joysticks anyway. I don't get the disconnect often with other a/c. It happens immediately in most cases as soon as I load PMDG 777. I'm really disappointed as this is without doubt the best aircraft I've flown. S Stranded in Bermuda now...nice as it is- the bird is needed in Gatwick!
  8. Really struggling now as I can't get any consistency. I played around with settings today, and generally the joystick would stop after 1-2 mins after startup. However, I made a Gatwick-Bermuda flight today- all fine until around 5,000ft... went to change view- and no input. Configured for autoland, and after turning onto localizer, joystick was back ! It stayed for the rest of the flight.
  9. Quick update: Reduced target frame rate and autogen down to minimum. Joystick was connected when the flight loaded- 5 mins late it disconnected. I didn't even taxi. USB power mgt off on everything, but 5 mins into flight it shouldn't even be going to sleep. This issue has only happened with PMDG 777 so far.
  10. Completely losing joystick input now whenever I run PMDG 777. This is the only performance issue- but rather significant as I can't fly it! I've installed UIAutomationCore.dll and running in compat for W XP SP1- at the moment. Thanks
  11. ...I had nothing else running- not even traffic. Could it be something within Windows?
  12. I just bought the 777 this morning, and I am so very impressed. However, two test flights so far interrupted by FSX messing around (what's new?) First time was a fatal error. This was under 'normal' operations with Traffic 2 running, and Radar Contact for ATC. OK, I thought. maybe I will have to run this with traffic and radar contact OFF. Second flight was under these conditions. However, this time, I lost joystick connectivity. I have researched this in the past and I have always prevented it by minimising memory usage. The problem is that I can't really do any more to free up performance. In both cases, the sim is running smoothly with no problems on view change, etc. Is there something I've missed? Here are my specs.: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit Intel Core i5 2500k 16 GB RAM GTX550 Thanks in advance.
  13. Hmm...seems to be sorted. I had unchecked the box in RCV4 to allow AI traffic sound. I think because these were silenced it somehow halted traffic departures.
  14. Hi all; Wondered if anyone could help- I have researched this a little bit but to no avail. I'm running FSX with Ultimate Traffic 2. All ok until recently. Now, when I am taxying, AI traffic departs no problem. However, when I get near the runway, all AI traffic grinds to a halt and just sits there. I'm also running Radar Contact V4. I haven't tested it without- but I always fly commercial flights with RCV4 running, so it's not ideal if this is the cause. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks!
  15. Hi Steve. Very good post. I flew into LHR with UK2000 and the joystick disconnected. The Airbus X autoland is rough! Near the airport the frame rate dropped substantially. I also had a lot of background programs running. Photoshop, multiple browser windows, etc.
  16. Update: I re-installed FSX today, and selected addons only. All appears ok so far! Only a/c addon installed is Airbus X.
  17. It happened to me very suddenly too, Pelayo. Greetings to LEMD. After trying a few things, I tried to fly there this morning but had the joystick issue again so quit the flight.
  18. It seems to be allowing FSUIPC to control the buttons on the joystick but not the axis on throttle or joystick. Again, after flying for a short time, the joystick is inactive. But, in calibration, under joystick settings in windows, it is still registered and working....
  19. Hi All! I'm having this issue, but have tried all of the steps above with FSUIPC. I've installed the latest Saitek drivers, under admin mode. I have configured within FSUIPC, etc. I have disabled power management on the USBs, etc. The problem seems to have worsened- before the joystick would disconnnect after a long time- now it's almost straight away- I can be taxi-ing out for departure and it will happen. Usually it happens when I change windows and come back in. It especially happens with Airbus X- but I think this is all coincidental. The joystick is not listed in FSX when it disconnects, or under windows. I don't know what to do. Is it FSX- I don't think so (Windows doesn't recognise the J/S either). Should I invest in a new joystick? I literally can't do any flying now.
  20. Are you flying into an airport with an ILS? You need to find the ILS frequency (via Maps) and enter this into the panel, with the correct course for the runway.
  21. I think these may be isolated cases as I have had nothing but good dealings with the team at Proviation. They do a good job at competing with core Flightsim stores, like flightstore, but you'll see they have a massive range of real-world flight equipment. Things like aircraft parts which I find really facinating. To say they offer this, as well as flight simulation gear, is, I think, a good offering and shows an overall committment to all forms of aviation? We have bought on four occasions to a high value for our users group and always been very impressed by the speed of service and the prices of items.
