  1. Hi Japo, does this work with x-plane 10 and Blender 2.6. The plugins i googled only work with x-plane 9 and blender 2.4! a guys who is well known on youtube for his planemaker to blender tutorials emailed me the other day and said that i needed to xport the model from xplane 10 back to xplane 9, then use those scripts to get it into blender 2.49...then go from blender 2.49 to blender 2.6! To use his words, it should "only take about 25 minutes" to complete the task! ( thats a hell of a long time just to export a model out of plane maker into blender 2.6! ps it wasnt quite as simple as i have put it as there is a layering issue between objects in 10 versus 9 that one has to deal with apparently (i havent studied this for my self and without that knowledge im in the dark)
  2. You have got to be kidding...do you really think this is a good simulation of tarmac??? this is so crap im not even going to bother showing you what it looks like in fsx and prepar3d...go have a look at the images earlier in this thread and see for yourself! Merely placing yellow line markings all over the place does absolutely nothing...its the tarmac suface texture itself that is the problem... Havent you ever wondered why it is that a lot of x-plane images claim it has superior quality graphics by using night shots....even those are not as good as fsx and prepar3d! Having said that, there are some aspects of x-plane that i really do like...i think its far more suited to the enthusiast modeller...i love that planemaker can work out flight characteristics for the model rather than the designer having to resort to google to find all of the relevant flight characteristics information and manually imput them all in...what a great idea that is. I do however feel that in its default install state, x-plane flight characteristics leaves an awful lot to be desired when compared with prepar3d and particularly fsx. To be honest, it is simply awful by comparison. Again, a real shame...i see great potential in xplane however, it would appear that it is being stifled by its developer! If anything needed fresh blood, this is it. BTW Bimmer...you assume incorrectly about me being new to all of this. I assure you, that is most certainly not the case! I just don't use x-plane forums because it seems as if its members living up in the clouds all the time! As long as they do that, their beloved software will never get better than prepar3d! A real shame to be honest. Anyway, enough grumbling from me, i purchased Xplane 10 and i want to learn more about the program...i see its importance in my siming experience and am keen as to get my install running better than it is right now! Actually that brings me to a question...so ill start a new thread that is appropriate to my question as it is inappropriate for me to send this one on unrelated tangents.
  3. Hi guys, i have been reading about this for a while and no one seems to reallyl provide a definite answer... and i cannot seem to get the default x-plane 10 /planemaker exporter to work. i am modelling a new aircraft in Blender that i intend to import into X-plane (which isnt a problem). However, once i have tweeked its basic design in planemaker, i need to be able to export it back into blender to continue 3d modelling of the finer details. The exporter that comes with xplane 10 /planemaker doesn't seem to do anything when i click on the export function! 1. How do you guys who develop aircraft for x-plane 10 do all your 3d modelling? 2. How do i "export" a 3d file out of x-plane 10 /planemaker? (i am looking to export into either Blender or 3ds max compatible .obj format) thanks adam
  4. apart from the cloud discussion here...i immediately noticed something between x-plane and fsx that basically sums it all up. 1. have a look at the difference in the runway detail between the two. Anyone who says xplane is better in this area is not only completely blind, they are on drugs! 2. take a peek at the blue sky. In xplane it is always displaying a greyish blue haze! Again, if you reckon thats better than fsx (where it is much more realistic clear blue), again you're on drugs!!! I would dump fsx and prepar3d in a second if only Austin would fix these unbelievably obvious display shortfalls. There is no way they are even close to realistic!!! How can something so bloody obvious go on for this long without being addressed!!! its a real shame! just my 20 cents worth
