  1. No its the SoCal and Norcal from Orbx not the airports.   As been documented by Rob A a few times.  Those 2 regions will push your system to its limits.   Need to go into the Config for Socal and Norcal and turn off things like docks, windmills, ships, towers, etc.   There is a ton of autogen around LA and it puts a load on the system.

Sorry just saw you said you turned off those things.  Not sure then cause LAX worked great for me prior to Socal.

Does anyone have any info on AIFP being updated to work with v4?

I'm using the AIG flightplans from the library with the models and liveries. Is there a way to install these without AIFP?

Why would you want to?   AIFP will do everything you need to do.  And fully customizable.  Just select the zip from AIG and AIFP will lay out the routes and aircraft.  When you are done downloading and installing the aircraft just hit compile and it will do it all for you.  Just make sure you have the models installed.

For example if it downloads the FAIB A320S United Airlines.    That is just the repaint.  You need to go to FAIB and download/install the models.  So then when you install the A320S United repaint AIFP sees you have the model and installs it and updates your aircraft.cfg all done for you.

  3. This thread cracks me up.   nothing needs to be installed in your Docs folder for the 1000th time.  You can install wherever you want.  Hell I have installed scenery for v4 by just pointing to my scenery installed on my other SSD which has v3 installed.

Unless you are really worried about that 4kb addon.xml file.  :)

KPHL is a nice looking scenery, but something weird about purple texture at the airport when flying over it.  Thanks for reminding me to reinstall it.

    John

Yeah that happened when it moved to v3.4.   I can live with it.  Didn't test the flyover in v4 but i'm sure its the same.

  5. Well in the US where citizens cry about paying taxes, the taxes are eliminated and replaced with "convenience fees" or "transfer fees" or insert any other general term.  So that way we all feel great inside that we are paying lower taxes only to be paying the fees that replaced the taxes.  Lol.

    Its not a huge deal.

Wait! where is the good news?

We have some people working on conversions of the TFS (Fruit Stand) models at AIG, so if they are updated, you will be able to use the 777's etc.   FSP has also released the 777/A330 series and others as payware (it's pretty cheap and P3D native, looks great) that are available on Sim Market.   The recent FSP and all of FAIB work great in V4.  FAIB will also be releasing a new 767 series soon to replace the very dated AIA models.  Some AIG models have required conversions, and they work, but are not completely native to all of the correct AI native functions with lighting etc, but they will do for now.

That's why i love AIG.   Great work guys!   Keep those flightplans coming!

  7. I love how everyone missed the posts from Rob A and Mathjias at Aerosoft stating that if they thought FPS would just magically be 100 with v4 they were sorely mistaken.

As you pour more addons in obviously your system is going to take a hit.  No matter what you do.   The sim is not to blame for you dumping addons on it.

And everyone's system is different. Different speeds, GPUs, CPUs etc.  So while one person will be like "I got crappy stutters and its slow"  another will be "smooth as silk"  Its the nature of the game.

All the devs told you the only thing 64bit solves is the memory problems.  Yes LM put in a lot of work in on other items but lets have perspective.  Your v4 is not going to be as good as the v3 you spent the last few years tweaking to perfection.  Its going to take time.   But once you get it tuned in and guys like Rob find little tweaks to enhance the system then v4 will be wayyy better than your v3.

Relax and take a breath.  Quit hitting me with those negative waves so early in the morning, Moriarty.  lol

I saw you posted in the other thread too but FAIB, FSP, AIA, AIG work well in v4. Take a look at the list of models in the other thread (AIG forum).

Right, the models those groups cover are FSX and work in v4.  I think dev in the other thread was alluding to that they are trying to cover the models of developers who no longer develop freeware AI or not updating their FS9 models.  There are many models outside those groups like the ones The Fruit Stand did.

  10. There was a mention on the other WOAI thread, that an effort is underway to update all the models for FSX/P3D.   FAIB, FSP and other model makers.

As far as animations, do we know if AI Controller works with P3D v4 since that controls some animations as well?

Yes FAIB and FSP models all work flawlessly as they are fully native. AIA also released an FSX model update pack here in the library they also work.

Don't despair there are large scale efforts within the AI community to update as many models as possible. Doing it properly takes a bit of time though.

Just a word too about these AI packages. As things stand only WOAI are authorised by almost all freeware authors to use their works. Anything else currently is pirateware.

The sad thing is nobody ever asks, if someone who wanted to create one of these packages by co-operation with and working with the freeware AI community we would happily talk about it just like WOAI did. But nobody ever bothers they would just rather rip off.

That's awesome news!  I don't like the payware AI packages.  And AIFP makes updating everything a snap.

Yeah someone in my VA once said "what's wrong with someone just doing the work to update and repackage these AI?"  I said nothing is wrong with it.  IF they sent an email and got permission from the AI model makers and the people who originally created the packages.  But like you said they never do.  Takes 30 secs to write an email!  lol.

  12. So i think we've determined the older model makers who provided FS9 models no longer work in P3D v4.  But I guess my question is, do the FSX models work like those being produced by FAIB etc?

I'm still sad though cause there goes all my Military AI and some unique aircraft.

Have you tied to remove the 3d trees to see if that made any difference?  Just curious as you have the same rig as me.

I thought that the MT AI aircraft which I have installed and running at 53% were simple AI machines.  With my frame rates unlocked, i am smooth as silk but the frames are around 30-45ish.  The real test will be when we throw in a few PMDG tubeliners and FSSLabs VAS Bus - whoops - meant airbus

Haven't tried turning them off yet.  But according to Jordan King and Rob A you'll gain FPS.  I don't feel like i really need speed trees but to each his own.

Sorry I was talking about the native default AI.   I don't know if MT uses FPS friendly models like WOAI.  I think they do.

Hey - currently testing this using default F-22 at FlyTampa Toronto.  I was having some and I think I have a fairly high end computer.  Here are my settings - try this and tell me if you have any luck:

    FXAA:on  / AA: 2xSSAA  / Texture Filtering: 2x / Texture Resolution High  / Target Frame Rate UNLIMITED

I seemed to get rid of those by setting my frame rates to unlimited.

    i74790K @ 4.0ghz 32GB DDR3 GTX1070 8GB

Nice I have the same setup.

Biggest killer so far was AI aircraft.   But lets remember these are complex aircraft not the stripped down models like UT, MT or WOAI use.   In fact sitting at Seattle i could see the pilots in the cockpit of the AI aircraft.

Road traffic didn't seem to have any hit.  Neither did dynamic lighting.  I have most of the sliders to the right.  I pull back half way on some like Autogen, vegetation, shadows, etc.

    2048 textures.

I have a feeling most of the people complaining about FPS issues are pushing the envelope on settings and have one or a few wayyyy too far.  For example thinking they can run everything to the right with 4096 textures and speed trees etc.

I think Jordan King's video pointed out some areas that would cause an FPS hit.
