Stutter test : HT ON and reset OC
DMojo replied to FuriousBird's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yep P3D runs better with HT off MSFS better with HT on. Although in saying that I definitely think the game is poorly optimized for some people. GPU looks to be getting a max utilization of 60% for me. Plenty of complaints on the official MSFS forum about it too. Testers saying that they were getting fantastic performance during alpha/beta but release version as been abysmal. So it will just be a matter of waiting until on a fix for this. It's still playable in the meantime I found that flying at low altitudes and being on the ground really tanks performance. Once you're at 1000 ft it's fairly smooth. -
Half Refresh rate wont work?
DMojo replied to dmarques69's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
- Vsync OFF in game - Half refresh rate in Nvidia CP - Rivatuner FPS Limiter to 30 Works for me -

Yep - HT ON made a big improvement for me. Additionally, using RivaTuner to set an FPS lock of 30 and Vsync Half Refresh in nVidia CP. -
Hey all, After trying MSFS for the first time the other day I was so disappointed with the performance - stutters, instability, crashes. I was almost about to give up and wait a few months for it to get better with bug fixes and updates. I could't understand because I'm running a fairly good setup - i7 8700, 32GB DDR4 2666, GTX 1080Ti. I had Hyperthreading disabled because P3D runs better without it. So I thought I'd try turn it back on in the BIOS and see if there's any difference - Wow it's almost stupid how much of an improvement that made. The thing is actually playable for me now and doesn't run like garbage! Thought this might help others who experienced the same thing.

Settings than Impact Stutters/Smoothness
DMojo replied to regis9's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Same, my stutters are setting independent. Even if I put everything low it still stutters. Can 't enjoy it. Dunno why...must be unoptimised for certain hardware. Running at 1080Ti and i7 8700. -
Pay attention to your settings to avoid stutters
DMojo replied to GSalden's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
That was my plan of attack as well - however what's HAGS? Edit: Just googled it. Hardware Accelerated Scheduling. I don't look to have the option as my driver version isn't up to date. Wonder if it makes much of a difference -

Only problem is once you've had a 4K monitor for a year everything lower is a blurry mess. 1080P movies seem to look great on a 4K display but not games from my experience 😞 Hopefully this improves over time -
Some good news re performance https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/07/ms-flight-simulator-our-yoke-on-look-at-new-features-gorgeous-flights/ "Thus, I'm not in a position to speak to the game's scalability across systems, nor about how settings impact performance. Something still needs optimizing on Asobo's end. Curiously, one of my worst and most consistent framerate chugs came from a prebuilt destination in the Balkans that the game encourages players to visit in one of its menus, and I was able to reproduce the issue on multiple PCs. That frame rate hovered in the 12 fps range while inside of the cockpit, whether on the ground or in the air, and closer to 30 fps (albeit quite unsteady) when the camera floated above the plane. Is the current issue due to the in-plane view? The specific number of trees rendered below? Something about the atmospheric systems being simulated? Asobo reps didn't have a good answer as of press time." "[Update, 4:10pm ET: A Microsoft spokesperson forwarded the following statement to Ars Technica: "Development is now heavily focused on making build optimizations for a variety of PC setups within our recommended specs. We anticipate additional performance improvements to be implemented as we arrive to launch on August 18 and beyond."]"

I had a similar issue. Horrible performance in external views - fixed it by reinstalling after a fresh download of the installer from PMDG.

I'm not a fan of FSDT. I would kill for it to be developed by someone...I wish Imaginesim didn't can it. There is another one developed by BluePrint but it's also not the best quality however I think it's more accurate than FSDT. Hopefully FSDT do a refresh in line with the quality of KORD...otherwise the default one on FS2020 looks fantastic.

I find that a lot of the P3D Settings are CPU bound aside from Dynamic Lights, Clouds, AA and resolution. For me, anything else substantially will affect fluidity when pushed too far due to the CPU bottlenecks.

New Nvidia GForce Driver Seems to be Excellent for FS9

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to try it now
