  1. Thanks @Rogan, I've installed the RealityXP GTN 750 update and now the GTN can provide steering commands to the autopilot again! Thanks, RealityXP!
  2. Thanks! Sean would be great. Though, he hasn't responded to any emails I've sent since about 2016... 😞
  3. Thanks @Rogen! Impressive diagnosis and fix of the disappearing pilots in the C-140. My terms with FSW could be better but given their high standards, I can live with them. Can you recommend anyone with the expertise to put a nice-looking woman in the right seat of the RAS Legacy? My long-term goals are to master these skills myself but I have a lot of higher priority things on my list right now...
  4. Hi Rogen, here's a challenge... I need to put a woman co-pilot/pax in the right seat of the RAS Legacy, for the sim videos to go with the real flight videos, to kind of look like my wife in the right seat...? Any ideas how to do that? Thanks! ValinHawK
  5. Hey Rogen! Yes, I just had our airplane's livery professionally updated on our RAS Lancair Legacy to PBR materials and to better match our airplane. Before this, I had what we did in 2015 on the RAS Legacy as I was perfecting the livery. Here are some screenshots of the PBR updated livery in P3D v6.1 with Active Sky: https://imgur.com/a/XdsqWGP As I'd mentioned before, I'm working with FSW on creating our customized Lancair Legacy we call STARHAWK for MSFS 2020/24. Our airplane is unique as Lancair Legacy's go -- for more info see our website where we help other builders with some of the improvements we made for our real-world airplane: Home | STARFLIGHT Experimental Aero Works | Lancair Legacy For the MSFS STARHAWK Lancair Legacy development, I've spent months on CAD for much of the airplane -- wings, tail, landing gear mechanisms etc. converted to mesh models for the sim, and high resolution 3D scans of the fuselage and our custom designed interior/cockpit for the 3D mesh modeler's reference. I'll also be helping with the audio and the flight dynamics model (I'm a retired aerospace engineer). My wife and I recently decided to start capturing video of our real-world flights as a kind of outreach effort to provide others with more insight to the world of experimental aircraft (aircraft crazy people build and fly themselves) and personal aviation. I intend to augment our real-world flight videos with recordings of the same flight in the simulator to help tell the stories. The delays in our MSFS STARHAWK development have required me to improvise in the near term by using our old RAS Lancair Legacy, which I used to help in my preparation for flying our real Lancair Legacy, for these integrated real world and sim flight videos. So, I'm in a quandary... It's not that I've spent hundreds of dollars having professionals repaint our livery on the RAS Legacy. It's that STARHAWK is a unique Lancair Legacy, not just because of its livery, but all the interior/cockpit and other customizations. If I release the STARHAWK livery for the RAS Legacy into the wild, by the time the MSFS STARHAWK is released later this year, people may think it's just the RAS Legacy stolen and ported over to MSFS with only the cockpit changed -- which it absolutely will not be. I love what Sean Maloney and Rob Young (RealAir Simulations) did creating a Lancair Legacy for FSX & P3D. I tried to reach Sean a number of times to plead that he redevelop the RAS Legacy for MSFS. But, as you know better than anyone, he's faced some personal tragedies and has left the flight sim world. The FlySimWare (FSW) STARHAWK is going to be even more accurate than the RAS Legacy. For an idea of the focus on accuracy, when I did the CAD for the wings, I used direct measurements from our airplane for everything including the airfoil profiles, precise double tapered wing planform, and wing and horizontal stabilizer incidence angles. The OML (outer mold line) of the airplane will be accurate enough to use in a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) digital wind tunnel and get useful engineering data. I know that detail in the 3D model is not really needed for the mechanics of a flight sim, but I plan to experiment with the model in some CFD tools to see what interesting data I may unearth... And, if one can make something virtual that's truely accurate to the real-world, why not do it...? So, these are the main reasons why I think it would be unwise to release the livery out into the wild this year. But, I also see how much you do to help people in the flight simulation community -- and you've already helped me. So, my promise is I will provide you the STARHAWK livery for your RAS Lancair Legacy soon after we release the STARHAWK Lancair Legacy for MSFS 2024 later this year. Is that okay...? Again, many thanks for all your help! ValinHawK https://imgur.com/olMtXat
  6. Hello Rogen, I resolved my folder security restrictions and was able to implement your adjustments to properly integrate the RealityXP GTN 750 in my RAS Lancair Legacy -- thank you! Now the virtual cockpit has the GTN display properly in the F1 GTN bezel/frame and the bezel buttons work. And, the separate pop up window for the GTN, easiest to work with, has its bezels and buttons. Again, thank you so much for the help! ValinHawK
  7. Hi Rogen, I finally started making the mod's you recommended late today. I got held up right away as I cannot get my Windows 10 PC to let me extract the .CAB files. I tried doing it with Windows and 7-zip and I get the message "Access Denied". I'm working with administrator privileges so I'm not sure what's going on. I won't be able to work on it again until tomorrow, Colorado USA time. If you have any suggestions to deal with this they'd be much appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Thanks Rogen. I'd seen your post on Sean before and didn't realize you are the one that made it. Yes, I should download the other RAS aircraft... Wow, you've got a lot of improvements to your base sim and you really know how to get into the guts and make it do what you want :). You are definitely an expert and it is great of you to help out the community the way you do -- thank you! I've tried to insert an image of our airplane from a URL but it's not working for me again. I don't know why. But here's a link: https://imgur.com/a/B2msri7 Thanks!
  9. Thanks Rogen. I guess we can roll back our P3D v6.1 version if we can't wait...?
  10. Thank you, Rogen - that's amazing! I won't be able to work on it until tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes. The RAS Lancair Legacy is the only RAS aircraft I have. I know the others are outstanding and I wish RealAir Simulations was still operating. Sean from RAS created a Diamond Twin under his new company named Virtex Simulations but he hasn't been seen or reachable for a long time now. People speculate the website is just running on "autopilot". For the RAS Legacy, I have a custom livery to match the real world Lancair Legacy my wife and I built and customized. I'm working with FlySimWare to create our airplane, we call STARHAWK, in MSFS 2020/24. The development has been slowed by a complicated Lear 35 in their pipeline and probably won't release until later this year. I'm very impressed by the clouds in your screenshot! Which sim and/or 3rd party improvements helped create them? Thanks again, Rogen!
  11. Hello, The RealAir Lancair Legacy's autopilot stopped working/connecting with the RXP GTN 750 in P3D v6.1. It was working before. The RXP Log shows the following: 24/02/14 14:12:07.413 64064 - ] # rxpGTN.dll version 2.7.8.0 24/02/14 14:12:07.413 64064 INFO ] 24/02/14 14:12:19.158 64064 WARN ] Autopilot not supported on this platform (vers: 6.1.10.31609) 24/02/14 14:12:08.863 64064 - ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.6.0.0 24/02/14 14:12:08.862 64064 INFO ] 24/02/14 14:12:19.281 12096 INFO ] GTN 750.1 - TRAINER 6624 Does this mean a new P3D v6.1 update broke it...? Any suggestions? Thanks! ValinHawK
  12. Thank you, Rogen! I just now saw your reply -- I need to adjust AvSim's notifications. I could use some help with this and a new problem. I don't remember seeing a setting where I could install without the bezels so in the RealityXP.GTN.ini file I edited the No Bezels parameter to True. Now it fills the bezel in the panel properly but the bezel buttons do not work. And, the window for the GTN 750 which I like to put on a second screen does not have bezels so I cannot use the bezel buttons and I cannot Undock It to move it to my second screen. My biggest problem, is after a repaint of my RAS Legacy, after reconfiguring/installing the RXP GTN, the autopilot no longer connects to the GTN. Here is what the log file shows: 24/02/14 13:31:24.964 37760 - ] # rxpGTN.dll version 2.7.8.0 24/02/14 13:31:24.964 37760 INFO ] 24/02/14 13:31:59.413 37760 WARN ] Autopilot not supported on this platform (vers: 6.1.10.31609) 24/02/14 13:31:26.405 37760 - ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.6.0.0 24/02/14 13:31:26.404 37760 INFO ] 24/02/14 13:31:59.531 52356 INFO ] GTN 750.1 - TRAINER 6624 Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!
  13. I finally was able to get a photo URL to be accepted by the forum software. See how the RealityXP GTN 750 in the panel does not have the correct shape...
  14. The RealityXP GTN 750 works!!!! I'm really impressed by the developer of the RealityXP GTN 750. I really did not expect it to be able to replace the Flight1 GTN 750 running in my RealAir Lancair Legacy in P3D v5 but it does! The Flight1 GTN 750 would not even run in my Lancair Legacy in P3D v6 at all so I really did not expect the RealityXP GTN 750 to work -- but it does...!!!! It is also very nice to have the latest software and nav data available with the latest Garmin PC Trainers. I've only noticed two anomalies amongst the thousands of things working perfectly. In the panel, the GTN 750 is in the correct place but it does not have the correct shape -- it's too narrow, distorted. I work with the GTN 750 in a separate window so it doesn't affect my using it too much -- but the panel looks funny. I'll attach a screenshot. For my separate window for the GTN 750, one cannot pan the map around by touching the display. The GTN 750 in the instrument panel allows it. For the separate window, when one left click holds to pan the map, the entire window moves. Congratulations to the developer(s) of RealityXP for their Garmin GTN 750! (BTW, for AvSim, I've tried several times, including on other posts, to insert an image from a URL and it does not work for me. Is there some secret I need to know or is this feature just disabled...?)
  15. Thanks, Low N Slow! Based on your AvSim avatar, I'd guess you're actually Low N Fast... 🙂
