  1. Hi All, I've been flying the developer and experimental versions of the A320 and one thing I've noticed is the need to apply constant stick back pressure to maintain altitude. Is this normal behavior? I thought not, as the reading and videos I've watched say the the purpose of the sidestick is to command a specific G and the pitch stability system does the rest. I've flown the Toliss in Xplane for a while and don't have that behavior. Any tips? Thanks.
  2. Wouldn't fly without it. Highly recommended
  3. Hi all, considering giving this one a whirl, but what I'm afraid of is a "Google Earth flight simulator" - you know just a scenery simulator. How are the flight models and the feeling of flight? I've seen references to flight unlimited 3 - which is a great compliment - to this day that simulator gave me the most believable feeling of flight I've ever experienced in a sim. And it also modeling ground handling very well, requiring opposite aileron in a crosswind, which I don't think I've experienced since. How is Aerofly in this regard? Thanks.
  4. Hi All, just wondering what the current best choice is for: - best overall airbus for xplane? - best fbw airbus simulation? (if different that best overall) Thanks.
  5. I had the same reaction after finally getting Ortho4XP working. The difference is astounding! I fly for hours on end exploring little areas now, because there is always something I missed the flight before. Helicopters are now my best friend for sightseeing. :)
  6. Hi all, Looking to get better performance and more display options (shadows, sharper textures, lighting, ect) in Prepar3d v3, xplane 10 and fsx. Would a video card upgrade to say a GTX 970 or 980 Ti be beneficial? Current system: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 i7-3770K 3.5 GHz CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10 video: 560 Ti 1 Gig
  7. Thanks all, I got the Bell 407 - what an outstanding product .. the feeling of flight is amazing! Now I have you guys to blame for me 1)not flying fixed wing anymore and 2) buying more helicopters! Thanks again - now off to buy the BK117 maybe even dusting off my old copy of Black Shark
  8. "volatile little" lol. I have EZDOK for FSX, but it's so damn temperamental (like FSX itself). I'm using x-plane more and more these days. I love the sceneries you can get for FSX like ORBX and Megascenery, but the crashes and unreliability (for me at least) of the platform is gradually driving me away.. Xplane "just works" for me..
  9. Hi guys, thinking about getting a payware heli (or two ). Any thoughts on a good first purchase? Can you guys give recommendations on 1) best "training" helicopter - challenging but I would be learning the principles with stability augmentation or other "aids", and 2) best heli with automation and instrumentation like a BK117 or similar? Thanks so much.
  10. Hi, i7 3770k, 32 gigs ram, 560 GTX ti 1 gig video. Single monitor resolution 1680 x 1050 I'm looking to maximize my xplane experience and wondered would a good step up would be. I might get Prepar3d in the future also.I've searched and read alot of posts, but would appreciate some recommendations. Thanks in advance. I'm guessing 4Gig Vram is more future proof, but what are the specific card recommendations? and what are the most relevant specs? Memory bandwidth, texel rate, pixel rate? I'm willing to go as high as $400, but no more than that. So far I've seen recommendations for a GTX 760 or 770, so something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130948 or this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130949 according to this site a jump to the 770GTX would blow my current card away: http://www.hwcompare.com/14660/geforce-gtx-560-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-770/
  11. Thanks guys. I have a GTX 560 Ti 1 gig video. Is this sufficient for the c90 or b200? running i7 3.5 ghz and 32 gig ram
  12. Hi All, Really enjoying XP 10 and I'm reading to dip my toes into payware territory.... GA only - not ready for jets yet... but will most likely get the FlyJsim 727 next Leaning towards the Carenado C90 for my first twin - the lighting and features look incredible. Any reason to get the B200 instead? Also would appreciate any opinions on other twins... For singles, I'm considering the the Piper package by Jason Chandler - looks like a great value - contains a mix of singles and twins. Also, the flight modeling is highly praised, notable among them Keith Smith - the founder of Pilotedge, and rw pilot.... Thanks for any feedback.
  13. Hi All, looking for feedback on my first try at putting together an FSX build The usage will be in running FSX gold. Also the sim's primary purpose will be to augment real world flight training (sport ticket) Looking at purchasing through either ibuypower or cyberpowerpc. Both builders offer a huge choice of mobos and video cards, so it's a bit overwhelming.. I started with some common advice I've gathered from these forums - a Z97 mobo and a 4790K CPU - powersupply needed? the configurator says 500 watts is sufficient - mobo - went with Asus - I've had great luck with them in my custom builds - video don't want to go too crazy - maybe just some basic addons like textures and weather and GA a/c - most likely no crazy PMDG NGX with dense city addons. I assume 2gig memory is sufficient? - if budget for only one disk - still go ssd and put os and fsx on it? 7/17/2014 CyberPowerPC Inc http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saving/print.aspx 1/2 CyberPower Z97 i7 Configurator (NO MONITOR) $1213 *BASE_PRICE: [+859] Gaming Chasis: CyberPow erPC X-Titan 100 MID-Tow er Gaming Case w / Side-Window Panel [-64] (White Color) Laser Engraving: None Laser Engraving Message: Neon Light Upgrade: None Extra Case Fans: Default case fans Noise Reduction Technology: None CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4790K 4.0 GHz 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1150 (All Venom OC Certified) [+40] CPU / Processor Cooling Fan: Asetek 510LC 120mm Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler - Enhance Cooling Performance (Single Standard 120MM Fan) Coolant for Cyberpower Xtreme Hydro Water Cooling Kits: Standard Coolant Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi ac) ATX w / Intel GbLAN, 3 PCIe x16, 4 PCIe x1, 1 x M.2, 1 x SATA Express, 6x SATA 6Gb/s (All Venom OC Certified) [+151] NFC: None Freebies: None Intel Smart Response Technology: None RAM / System Memory: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory (ADATA XPG V2) Video Card: * NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card [+107] (Single Card) Freebies: None Power Supply: 500 Watts - EVGA 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Pow er Supply [+16] Hard Drive: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Drive) Secondary Hard Drive: None Hard Drive Cooling Fan: None External Storage: None USB Flash Drive: None Optical Drive: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR) Optical Drive 2: None External Optical Drive: None Sound: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO NVIDIA 3D Vision Glasses: None LCD Monitor: None 2nd Monitor: None 3rd Monitor: None Speakers: None Internal Network Card: Onboard Gigabit LAN Netw ork Keyboard: AZZA Multimedia USB Gaming Keyboard Mouse: AZZA Optical 1600dpi Gaming Mouse w ith Weight Adjustable Cartridge Mouse Pad: None Headset: None Gaming Gear: None Fan Controller/Temperature Display: None Internal USB Expansion Module: None Internal Wireless Network Card: None Website: www.cyberpowerpc.com Call Us at: (800) 707-03937/17/2014 CyberPowerPC Inc http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saving/print.aspx 2/2 External Wireless Network Card: None Wireless Routers/Hubs: None Docking Station: None Bluetooth: None Flash Media Reader/Writer: None Video Camera: None Tablet: None Cables: None Power & Surge Protection: None USB Hub & Port: Built-in USB 2.0 Ports External USB ADAPTER: None Operating System: Microsoft® Window s 7 Home Premium [+104] (64-bit Edition) Media Center Remote Control & TV Tuner: None Office Suite: None Games: None Ultra Care Option: None Service: STANDARD WARRANTY: 3-YEAR [3 Year Labor, 1 Year Parts] LIMITED WARRANTY PLUS LIFE-TIME TECHNICAL SUPPORT Rush Service: Standard processing time: ship w ithin 2 to 3 w eeks *_PRICE: (+1213)
  14. Thanks everyone. They spec'd out a system from ibuypower. Any feedback on them? Thanks.
  15. My personal dilemma with Prepar3D is that I don't qualify for either license: I'm not a student, nor am I a professional pilot or flight school owner. That leaves me with the bloated mess that is FSX, that I had to DOWNGRADE my os back to win 7 from win 8 just to have a prayer at running it. I'm getting so fed up with the constant tweaking of FSX under win 7, that I might go back to X-Plane permanently. Folks here who get FSX running smoothly are alot smarter than me ... I support servers and MS SQL databases for a living, and sometimes all the tweaking necessary to run these sims is just as bad (or worse!) than server support!!! </rant off>
  16. Hi all, I'm helping a friend spec out a pc suitable for running fsx, although they might explore prepar3d or xplane down the line. They do NOT want to build it themselves. Are there any good vendors anybody has experience in? The only one I've heard of so far is http://www.originpc.com/ Any ideas on what specs to go with? I'm totally out of touch with the best cpu/graphics cards. ram - i'm assuming at least 8 - maybe 16 makes a difference if xplane? Thanks for any help.
  17. Mik75, can you answer some questions about Peters aircraft, if you have time? -is there a function to start the plane from different states (cold and dark, engines running, ect.)? -does the panel save state? (can i save at the outer marker for instance to practice ILS procedures)? -how comprehensive is the FMC? (I'm not yet familiar with the airbus term for this) -does the package include tutorial flights in the documentation, and how is the documentation overall? Thanks very much for your help.
  18. Guys, another question if I may. Does the Jar allow you to start in the air to practice an ILS approach for instance? Or do you have to go through the whole preflight every time? Does the JAR allow you to save the state of the aircraft? I read the QPAC has some interesting features: -full replay capability -jump to waypoint -start a flight in air to practice ILS approaches Can the JAR do this? Thanks.
  19. Thanks guys! Looks like it's almost unanimous! Appreciate the help.
  20. Hi guys, inspired by past discussions among jcomm and others, I want to jump into jetliner payware airbus territory. Which is a good first one? Fbw and handflying are most important to me. I'm hoping the package includes a good tutorial or quick flight documentation. The ones most often mentioned for few performance are peters a321 or the qpac. Is this still the case? Thanks for any help
  21. I have Windows 8.1 and I've had nothing but trouble with FSX. The main issue for me is the joystick dropouts and also FSX confusing the axis's between the controllers. For instance FSX will randomly think the pedals control the aileron and/or elevator axis and the joystick should control the yaw. No rhyme or reason to this. The joystick dropouts happen for me if I alt-tab to another program. I come back to FSX and the controllers have disappeared. Sometimes this happens, sometimes not. If you plan on launching FSX and flying without switching to another program, you're probably ok, I've had minimal issues with dropouts in that case. If however, you like to switch between programs as is FSX running, your mileage may vary. Personally, I'm so sick of the issues with WIndows 8.1 and FSX, that's I'm reverting back to Windows 7.
  22. For those using Asn: I need a weather engine and and leanin towards asn. How is it working? I tried the trial with FSX And it's great. Does asn work as well with prepar3d? Do the turbulence features work as well with prepar3d? I like prepar3d so far but what bothers me is there is absolutely no feeling of moving through the air or inertia out of the box
  23. Hi all, Sorry for yet another weather engine question.... I tried the ASN demo (which is unfortunately over). The weather depictions are beautiful, but the thing I missed compared to OPUS, was the DHM effects. I never noticed the weather's effect on the airplane, even in bad weather. Was there a setting I missed in ASN, or do you need to add a camera utility (OPUS/EZDok), or perhaps accufeel do get these dynamic DHM effects when using ASN? I really don't want to buy two programs if possible. What makes ASN so superior to OPUS as a weather engine? ASN seems to get the majority nod here..... Thanks.
