I'll try to find one of those two. I am sure the FS2Crew will be going on mine. I am looking forward to the big planes. My son has no intentions of going into the big jumbos. If it was me I would do that and have a personal plane also then I would get to fly most of the time but I'm probably too old to become an airline pilot. So I'll just have to wish and play like it. What about traffic 360 is that any good?

Ok I have fixed the problem with DFW airport. Installed FS Global all areas FSGenesis USA FTX global and vector. Between REX 4 and Rex essential OD I am starting to think OD presents a more realistic scenario. My sons pc needs a motherboard and processor upgrade so I am waiting for that to get here. If any one knows how to make the lights in FTX global vector smaller less glaring it would be great to know how. I have to say I am so impressed words can not explain. From basically flight sim 2004 to this I am astounded. Two questions. One how can I make FTX lights less bright and large? What are the different addons that make people in the plane talk and what program do you use to talk to the towers? Like in real life when you pass from one towers control to another and landing? Is that possible?

I need to see if anyone can help. I have FTX Global & Vector also FSgenesis installed and tried to add FSDreamTeam DFW and GSX. I could not get either one to work. Now I have removed them and it seems ok. My question is this. I am not sure if the (AFM) aerodrome flattening meshes will help or if I am better off going to GEX UTX or FSglobal. Maybe a combination of some items but if it's a combination I do not know how to do that yet. I need to try making sure add on items are as compatible as possible. This needs to be for the US. The DFW worked but I was extremely far below where they were set. I was looking up at lights and taxi ways that were 10's of feet above me. In advance I will just say thank you to all those that have helped and will help in this portion of my adventure.

I finally put the specs for my sons pc in my profile. Mine is not listed yet. I did buy him an A2A Cessna 172 Trainer. I think it's not the hardware but it is older. I7 quad core 9650 3ghz 8gb ram gtx 480 sli but not when on the sim. Realism in scenery and whatever it takes to fly the plane. But the scenery I think is ok for now. I can't buy him a whole new computer. After all I am having to pay for school. Dreamteam sent an email this morning saying they think it's one of the other programs. I can believe that. But why until it was installed was it fine then after it was removed it was fine again? I am a little suspicious of FSGenesis. That does the elevations. But again it's fine without the add on and the GSX never worked. I think the trainer for now is good for planes. I will add as he moves up. Is there anything else that would be helpful? My mistake he is not even allowed to land at DFW!! Dear old dad is not very knowledgable.

I turned DX10 off and removed both FSDT GSX and DFW. It seems fine now. I also set display to default. the biggest offender I think was FSDT.

I am going to try posting a picture of two problems. One is the black squares I think its missing a texture. The other is DFW with GSX. You will see that but I can try explaining. I am either in canyons or like the picture lots of invisible stuff. First I like Windows 8... For playing around!!! :rolleyes: Second I wish I had known about REX the person that sold it to me I guess made some extra bucks. DX10 seemed better looking to me but on my son's no such test will be performed. I was testing on mine first. I may keep playing with mine but not his. So should I not have both REX4 and REX plus with OD installed with ASN? I want ASN so what should I do about REX?

Ok it happens now on both DX9, DX10. It was not there at all until I turned on DX10 and the problems started. I the tried the fix from avsim not much changed. Is there a repair maybe or has it corrupted something? This is on an addon plane I really like Beechcraft D-18 maybe I could just recopy the texture.

Rick I will tell my son to look into AOPA. I am having some trouble with DX10. Everything has gone fairly smooth. FSGenesis, FTXGlobal, REX4, ASN REX Esentials +OD. I have a couple of issues. I will have to find a way to get ASN and REX4 & +OD working correctly that may not be too big. But I can not use DX10 in any way without the black standing squares. I am sorry I will try to explain between buildings houses there looks like a texture is missing. I can only say it is standing black squares. I think either a texture is missing or corrupted on top of that one of my planes now has Flight Simulator X across the DASH!!!! OH and that is why I have not gotten back until now. I thought I could fix those and no such luck. One other question are both REX4 and REX Essentials plus OD needed together?

Someone did answer about the files. I installed the FTX global and have black boxes in some places they seem to be in a pattern like something is blocked or turned off. I did turn on DX10 preview. I am not getting too much flash but I am on a little local air field without much scenery and no runway lights. Active Sky Next and REX both purchased but I am not to that point yet. I am little slow at this. I am trying to get it right without too many mistakes. The block boxes had to do with DX10 preview turned it off no more problems. So is it best to leave DX10 alone? Is there a fix?

I am going to get the FTX global going first see how things are. Slowly I will add in ASN REX some regions possibly. I used to live in the northwest so I can actually enjoy that section. UTX if it happens will have to be after I am much more comfortable. Then I will add GNS 530 VOX and Ground services. I already had one of those fun little crashes with nothing but FSX. :rolleyes:

Sportsfan I have already bought FSgenesis is it similar? You get credit also I do not know if I gave you any I don't want to miss anyone. This is really nice that UTX and FTX global work together. I have seen several videos and the ones I like the most have both in the mix. I need to ask something else Active Sky Next and OpusFSX can they be installed at the same time or can they be removed to test the other? I am going to get both and see what looks and feels the best. I just had an idea. I don't know if this will work. Can I copy the FSX folder to a place on the hard drive before I start the installation? That way if something goes really wrong I can just drop it back in place fresh?

So you are a pilot Dickens? Lucky boy smart to make your own decision. I was a little concerned asking the questions I needed answered. Thinking I would get brushed off. I wish I had gotten on and asked more questions several years ago. But there was a lot more code writing then. I am going to get back tomorrow or Saturday and let you all know how it goes.

Ha ha ha I won't tell but that's because one I love my country and two I support our troops. The third is I was taught to hunt by UDT!! My third grandfather was a little tough on the deer skills.

Well I think this is going to be pretty interesting to see how all this turns out even if he does not get to use it until he finishes school. I can still fly and learn take offs and landings. I am no good at that at all. Is there anything to help learn landings? Take off no problem flying no problem landing I can do it but not well.

Thank you very much. He is 21 and in school. That was what I was trying avoid was the bad habits. But his flight instructor told him in the air he had not had anyone for a first flight do that well. Let me say though he has flown sims since he was at least 7. I have always tried to make them as realistic as the time period would allow. On top of that his uncle lets him fly with him a bit here and there no take offs and landings but air where it's safe. So he has some actual experience not much. But I don't know now if I should keep it here so he does not pick up bad habits until he is more well versed with his instructor. I do not want to get him off on the wrong foot. I have tried to get him in two colleges and he has hated it. But he is excelling in flight school. I will hold off on delivery for a few more weeks. He has also gotten to fly with another uncle when he was still training the F-16 or F-18 pilots in the Air Force. My grandfather used to fly and another uncle used to fly also. I might throw that in the mix if it can be turned off until he is ready. I have always done his computers he just flies. I don't guess there are war planes like combat FS that work well now days is there? My two favorite planes are the A10 and Harrier, unless it's old prop planes PBY Catalina and biplanes.... There are too many I like in props.

I think he will be moving up into larger and larger planes. He just called tonight and he is almost through with personal training. So I think he moves from single to twin prop then I am not sure I think jets. Then I have no clue bigger I'm sure. But I do not know how far this training will go. I assume at least up to below commercial airlines. I will ask him though. They train all the way up to the big planes I think. That's a very good question. I know he shot through this portion like lightning. And I think he has one to two years left. Well I had to get to bed earlier than I have lately and jumped on the tablet. And before I knew I had hit it. This tablet stuff is for the birds. Small convenient but trimmed down in function. Ok he says up to Lear jets and king airs at this school. I guess as he goes faster and bigger I will move his planes up to get what he is using. I did fix the solved thing. His I think is solved but once I start the FTX for mine I might need more help. I was trying to finish it so I could drive up to see him this weekend and let him test it out. May or may not make that though. Is it a long process configuring everything? FSX simple but this is the finesse and I am sure that might take a little bit of time.

Well this is turning into a little better than I had hoped. Now if I can just quit touching the wrong button. I clicked solved and in most things I think it is. But I am not sure I was quite through. I have to go get the software and I get it into FSX. Any way I mat need to start a new topic since I clicked solved.

Yes the nightlight I was referring to was runways. We used to try landing at the airport here on one of the fs2002 or fs2004 and it is a medium size but it had no lights and dirt runway or looked that way. Ok I think I understand about FTX global and UTX working together and not vector. What about mesh what ever forms the better mountains and valleys. I am confused about that part. That is one of the things I would like to have for him. The piece of the puzzle that would make the correct obstacles and heights for the rolling hills mountains and valleys.

Ok I have more information. He needs airports as much or more than lights at night. Is there anything that would cover at least Texas and Oklahoma with proper runways and maybe terminals. I am not as concerned with little airports but medium to large are important. He told me he could not land on dirt like use to in FS2004!!! So its a little easier. The only thing I have found is megascenery 2.0. Good bad any ideas? Mixed on top of ORBX or UTX GEX? I promise I will quit asking as soon as I can. Dickens I appreciate the help. I finally think I have decided to get the flight1 UTX GEX Opus for him with A2A Cessna 172 trainer. The last part is why I went that way. I am in need of Texas airports lights at night come second at this point to correct runway on not tiny but small-medium, medium, to large airports. P.S. If there are actual pilots on here please tell me what the best would be for my son. I would rather not give him anything at all than mess his schooling up. I hope that is a little clearer. If ORBX is the best for that so be it. If prepar3d is best so be it. If FSX with UTX fine. He has not yet attempted night landings and that is my concern. I love this stuff and will probably do lots of playing and changing but for him flight will be life and death. I want my son safe. I might should have asked this in the first place.

I am not sure I understand UTX for the USA and FTX global can work together? I like them both also. Let me ask this a different way. Is ORBX not complete for the USA? Is it complete for any section of the earth? I really don't care I would need for him to practice in the Texas Oklahoma Louisiana Colorado Arkansas New Mexico Arizona areas at this point. Me I want to see the beautiful scenery where ever I feel like flying!!!! LOL I might try England today China tomorrow Africa next week. He will be in the central and southern areas of the USA for now. I think I found a good plane also what about an A2A C172 trainer is that a good working model again for him?
