  1. I can answer a couple of your points. NIS mod does work with quest 2 and airlink. You wont see any difference but your fps should go up so test this. I get 6-8fps extra. The shimmering might be helped by not going above say, 30% sharpen in NIS mod config tool and by editing your UserCfg.opt (search your pc for it) file. In this file there's a VR section and under that change the "sharpen" value to 0.
  2. Msfs is a game that tries to simulate flying, so its a simulation and a game.
  3. Link to latest release: https://github.com/mbucchia/XR_APILAYER_NOVENDOR_nis_scaler/releases/tag/alpha-4 I've got solid 7 or 8 fps gains with it (steam vr) scaling 0.8 sharpness 0.2
  4. The modder has just added alpha version 3 which works with steamvr using headsets. Ive tested it with mine (pimax), it gave 2-3fps with a slightly more blurred image. YMMV as some seem to be getting 10 fps.
  5. This is from a thread on msfs forums right now, its a mod that adds 10-15fps. Currently only works for WMR headsets like G2 but the modder (mbucchia) is working on a SteamVR fix. It adds Nvidia NIS. https://github.com/mbucchia/XR_APILAYER_NOVENDOR_nis_scaler/releases/tag/alpha-2
  6. In game i've looked at my street using bing and google and google is more up to date and appears to use a higher quality of textures, so i use google now.
  7. I'm using REX atm as msfs live weather puts the clouds on the ground since SU7, or has this bug been fixed? I don't think so.
  8. a fresh install is not without its perils either! if your current install is good then... I think you can only get away with reinstalling the msfs client only (the exe that steam uses to begin the loading of the game), then pointing that to the packages folder as has been suggested, if you use Steam version msfs. I just recently reinstalled my OS and the msfs client only with no problems.
  9. @Ricardo41 There's no entitlement i can see, asobo broke something and have communicated little to nothing about it as yet, and people don't like it.
  10. Ive reinstalled rex, it did an update, but it isnt injecting weather into msfs. Anyone else have it working? Im at an airport with rain, it says "LIGHT RAIN" in rex, but the skies are clear. Msfs live weather makes it cloudy. Edit: ignore, working now.
  11. Glad you posted this about clouds on the ground! I noticed this too today, clouds for miles on the ground that were at sea level. Thought it was a lot of fog or something!
  12. 33gb just what i didnt need! Been a bummer of a computing day for me so far... Windows 10 FORCED a 22H2 update on my pc which didnt work and started an upgrade/repair loop, so i got out of that by using media creation tool to upgrade to 22H2, which worked. But then msfs 2020 wouldn't even boot past 15 seconds, so i tried to rollback to previous win 10 version (21H1) which failed (of course) rendering my windows unbootable! So i reinstall windows 10, luckily didnt have to reinstall msfs (just pointed msfs installation manager to current msfs install directory). Msfs now starts, but vr won't. Putting that aside for now to d/l msfs update. tl;dr: word not allowed MS forcing win 10 updates broke my computer.
  13. I use this mod flying mostly around my local area, i think i can see the improvement, in road textures especially. Edit: whoa google maps is much more up-to-date (for my area atleast). My neighbour had a new driveway a few months ago, on google this shows (its uncannily accurate too), but bing shows the old driveway still. Yeh just double checked and google is much better for my local area. Not just of how in date it is but also the quality of textures.
