  1. I'm experiencing a rather than annoying issue, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this before and what are your suggestion. The sky textures during the night time are not loading... If I commence a free flight and set a night time (where night sky textures need to be rendered), the game will ctd with the so hated message "A fatal error has occured". If I set any other time than night and then change it to night in-game, weirdly, it won't crash but instead, everything will be dark except for the sky textures, which will just remain the same with the time I had set before. (I had set 11:00am, the sky would be like 11:00am, but everything else, including the scenery, the clouds, the moisture and goes on, will be rendered like they are supposed to) What do you have in mind? It has annoyed me more than you can even imagine, because no one else seems to have ever experienced this issue before (I couldn't find any solutions by googling it.) It doesn't make any sense, yesterday evening it was running perfectly, and I hadn't shut down my computer since this appeared. The only thing I had done is replacing my Uires folder with the default one (A stupid thing had changed my Ui 3 months ago or so, and I replaced those with the original ones I got from a friend). I don't think that changing the UI has anything to do with this. Things I have done so far: Deleted fsx.cfg and let it rebuild a new one - Useless, issue is still there Redownloaded the set of sky textures I was using (it's the Sky textures for ENB series, the most popular freeware sky textures) and replaced my old ones assuming they were somehow corrupted or something like that - Useless, issue is still there Restarted my PC - Useless, issue is still there Putting the old Uires folder back (which I had backed-up for a reason) - Useless, issue is still there. I do actually use ENB, but it's not what's causing the issue, I tried turning it off but it was useless, the issue is there. Any suggestions? (English is not my native language, I hope you understand)
  2. I installed the ENB series along with it - undoubtly the best visual enchachment I have ever seen, thanks Kyle, I was looking for such a thing for ages. And the sun looks way better now.
  3. I've been looking for a sun quite a long time. The best one I found was lying in a Kyle's video "PMDG 777LR/F - Freighter Tips and Tricks", however he can't remeber where he found it, more specifically, that's what he replied: I went to that channel, but I wasn't able to find any sun-releated stuff So, maybe someone in here can finally enlighten me. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
  4. This is actually an issue you are not the only one facing, I have no idea how to fix it, I'm only here to assist you in finding the ILS frequencies for each runway. To find a runway's ILS frequency, you can open the Map in the FSX (I don't know about P3d), navigate and zoom in the arrival airport, click on any runway and you can find the corresponding ILS frequency along with the runway heading there (Caution, the runway heading is not the same as the final approach course at every single runway in this world, you might want to ensure they are the same by refering to the corresponding approach chart which can be found by googling "ICAO charts" for example "LGAV charts" - "OMDB charts" and so on). Make sure you are using updated sceneries (since the FSX's ones are over 8 years old) so the runway's actual position agrees with the current NavData cycle (most of the non-default sceneries do comply with that, so all you have to do is to download a custom scenery). e.g: Please try to improve your speech (no offense, treat it like an advice), I could hardly make any sense.

The weight and the distance are the most two most importany factors for the FL calculations (as far as my knowledge goes). I doubt that the cost Index is taken into account for that calculation. The cost index is directly releated with the VNAV cruising speed calculations (It is the single most imprortant factor considering cruising speed and fuel predictions). When requesting a route, usually (depends on the airline options, most airline settings do include automatic uplinks along with the route's one) you also get a Perf Init uplink, once you load the Perf Init, you get winds aloft data uplink, and after that you get the descent forecast uplink. Judging by that sequence, it is clear that the wind is not taken into account when calcualting cruising altitude. (You get the winds once you loaded the perf Init which includes the Cruing Altitude). The route and the Zero Fuel weight are the most important factors for the Cruising altitude calculations.

Thanks for the quick explanation, but is it able to communicate using voice via SATCOM (with less distortion and static sounds than HF of course, it's pointless otherwise). The fact that you didn't bother modelling it's functionality doesn't make me wonder, it would be useless in FSX.
  7. I'm facing excactly the same situation. "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED". I didn't try the above but since the guy above cab825 didn't report any progress, I don't think I should try the same stuff (I really want to avoid clearing my browser history completely). Note that I could access the website via Proxy (Tor in particular), but since Tor is really, really slow, it is not the ideal solution either. Do you have any other suggestions in mind, Kyle? Full names in the forums please - it is mandatory

Hello everyone, I just want to ask a few things about SATCOM. First of all, what's SATCOM? (What's it's purpose?) Is it modelled in the PMDG 777? If the answers can be found by reffering to a manual, please tell me so. Thanks in Advance.
  9. I didn't read the rest of the post (probably someone mentioned it before). Go to PMDG setup in the FMC-> Options-> Simulation page 3/7 Set minimus and baro knobs rotary instead of realistic which is the default setting. It's not that difficult in the realistic either, still kinda easier when rotary, I'm using rotary as well. (If you are using EZDOK like I do, create a custom cockpit camera and deselect RND and DHM as well as the Z and mainly use this camera when flying. This makes controlling the MCP easier, using the scratchpad easier, Setting the minimus easier and generally a LOT of stuff easier. I usually use a camera configured with the pre-mentioned options only when flying manually for more realism. )
  10. Sure does, thanks. So, the WXR is modelled while the Terrain radar is not. About CWS, I just don't get how the wheel steering has to do with the attitude, other than that it was as helpful as it could. Best Regards
  11. Hello simmers, I'm new in the NGX and now I'm trying to learn how things work here (I'm used in the PMDG 777). Always have in mind that I have many flight hours in the 777 when answering the below. And please do not simply say "Refer to the manual", because I already did. (I have read the entire tutorial 1 from Gatwick to Schiphol) So: 1. Do the weather and the terrain radars function in the PMDG 737 NGX? (Are they modelled?). I'm using ASN (In the PMDG 777 the WXR requires ASN in order to work). So far I haven't seen any terrain/cloud traces on the ND. So, are they? 2. What's the Gear's lever middle position, (It says "off" next to it), and when should I put the lever in the middle position? 3. What's the purpose of 2 CMD buttons. 4. Is there a way to autotune to the nearest VORs as I cruise? 5. Can I set a speed restriction in the FMC? (especially during the descent). In the 777 it could be done in the VNAV 3/3 page. Here, by going in the DES page, there's only the global 240/10000 restriction and I can't put my own one somewhere. 6. What's the function of the CWS buttons in the MCP (next to the CMDs). Thanks in advance.
  12. Hello, Is there a way to use IVAO's MTL for my model matching in VATSIM? If not, what can I do to get a corresponding model matching to MTL's one?
  13. Thanks, quite illustrating. The vertical perf indicator (you mean these little triangles, right?) appears as soon as I reach T/D, is it supposed to be shown throughout the cruise? (where VNAV PTH is engaged). Just want one more thing to ask, when flying a VDME approach, I have to keep the plane flying inside the rectangle displayed on the VOR ND map? I have tried it 2 times today in different airports, while descending I put the VOR freq and the course in the NAV RAD page, I followed the instructions in the charts to the final approach and tried to sustain the course while flying inside the edges of that rectangle. But when I finally got the runway in sight, I noticed that I was in the correct course but to the left (it was to the left in both cases),quite aslant to be ingored and I had to make a pretty big adjustment to my final approach to finally land. If the visibility was any lower, chances are that I would had to fly a missed approach cause I wouldn't be able to correct my track in time. So, I want to ask, is that an FSX issue (maybe the scenery is outdated or the VOR is missplaced or anything like that, considering I was using the default scenery for both airports.), or I just don't have to fly inside the area of that rectangle in the ND VOR map ? You see, I'm just attempting to master the PMDG Triple seven, and you have helped me a LOT, thanks in advance, Kyle

I just want to ask what are these two supposed to indicate: That 6.8 digital gauge along with the LNAV/VNAV (By the way, I should have left flap 1 setting there, shouldn't I?) Thanks for your time
  15. Hello everyone, I'm looking troobleshooting for a really annyoing issue I came across, part of the ground is generated as white tiles, lowering the appereance of the scenery A LOT. I've got a screenshot here: I have installed the FS genesis - World Terrain Mesh for FSX (I don't think that this is the cause, just pointing it out) The location of the screenshot above is LGKR airport. The white tiles appear here and there all the time, and It has become really annoying. (It's not only this airport which is infested) Again, any troobleshooting is welcomed. Thanks in advance.
  16. Navigraph's charts is excaclty what I was looking for, Thanks
  17. Do you guys know where I can find full and UPDATED (freeware or payware - I don't really mind) aerodrome charts? Googling an ICAO's ident charts (eg. LGAV charts) comes up with only with outdated charts which are missing pages. In case I have posted this in the wrong place, -to the forums admin- please relocate it where it should be. Thanks in advance

It is working... It's just the precipitation/thunderstorms which are shown, I should have listened to you in the first place... and I wondering why it was making no sense :
  19. dromeascr replied to dromeascr's topic in PMDG 777
I just read the FAQ in the official Hifi support page, I kinda sorted things out now, I will test the WXR in a precipitation region though, to ensure it is working.
  20. dromeascr replied to dromeascr's topic in PMDG 777
I had tried the ASN's trial in the past, (the WXR in the ND hadn't showed a single cloud during the trial as well), when the trial expired, I put some dlls I found in the internet, and from that point, the WXR was showing the clouds in the ND. (Using any FSX's weather theme or FSX's real time weather) I think the ASN overrides those dlls with original ones, because even when putting them back, once I got in-flight, the WXR was still showing nothing. When I put those dlls (without the ASN running), the WXR was working like this: I think it's a technical issue, that's why I'm seeking for help. If it's the case you mentioned above, I still haven't seen anything in the WXR mode (Come on, I'm sure I have came across precipitation clouds, but still I'm gonna confirm it's an issue by testing the WXR in a region where precipitation is present.) Any troobleshooting in mind? Thanks

The WX radar is fully functional as far as I know (at least it is supposed to, correct me in case I'm missinformed), however, pressing the WXR button in the EFIS will have no effect (the WX in the ND is displayed), no clouds would be shown in the ND even if overcast. I'm using ASN, any suggestions? (I'm 100% sure that this has posted before, but I don't know if there's a search function in the forum or something, if there is one, please let me know, so I will not recycle old topics, ever again.) Thanks.

It is kinda off-topic, but I want to ask your opinion, simmers/pilots/former pilots/ATCs/former ATCs/enthusiasists. What happened with MH370? How it is possible in year 2014 to just lose track with a huge, modern and high-tech aircraft like a triple seven? What we Do know so far: 2 minutes after the flight's last transimission with an ATC, the aircraft's transpoder along with it's ACARS system, both shut down. However, even when shut-down, the ACARS keeps reporting the plane's position every hour through pings which requires deep knowledge in the aircraft's electronics to shut down unlike the ACARS itself for example. Thanks to those pings, investigators were able to track the plane's last movements every hour for the next 7 hours. Approximately 7 hours after it's transponder goes off, the plane stops responding to the ACARS' pings. So, towards where did it fly? The moment it disappears from radar, the plane makes a sharp left turn to the west, towards India. It flies a couple of hundreds miles and then it changes its course again, this time to the south towards Antartica and it keeps flying south until it stops responding to ACARS' pings. These evidence suggest that there was someone in the cockpit (a pilot very likely) whose goal was to disappear the plane. (The transponder and the ACARS both shut down in a rapid succession, there's no mutual mechanical connection or something like that which could shut those both down and the only purprose of these two systems involves communicating with the ground, doesn't that ring any bells?) So, what do You think simmers/pilots/former pilots/ATCs/former ATCs/enthusiasists? I'm open minded for all your opinions. (To forum operators: Please transfer the topic where it should be in case I posted it in the wrong place.) Thanks for your time
  23. Thanks for your response and interest, all of you, I'm gonna try out the .cfg releated stuff you mentioned, and I'm gonna contact you back with things I tried. Again, thanks
  24. After ~13 minutes, the game crashes to desktop, no matter if I'm on the ground or airborne.. The addons I run are listed below: PMDG 777 For sceneries, FlyTampa Athens and FlyTampa Dubai. I'm also using the FS water configuration on the "Ocean-Rough" setting. Oddly enough, the Add-Ons menu on the Menu Bar in-game doesn't appear as well, although I do have the RAAS professional (installed with PMDG). The game runs at 60FPS in the ground with no issues. The .cfg file I'm running is the Matt Davies' one which I have slightly modified. http://goo.gl/irLww1 Tried installing DX10 Fix but no cigar, i managed to alter the settings, it apparently didnt affect the game performance or crash-wise. I don't think I need to list my specs, tell me in case I should do so.

Hello, I just want to learn more about CATs and I thought, where else to seek for answers than here... Reading charts lately, I have noticed that most of the times, there is another ILS approach chart for CAT II and CAT III on the same runway, although the Final approach course may be the same, other values like DA(H) and other stuff, varies. Any explanations are welcomed, please be as clear as possible. Best Regards
