  3. Been out for a while with my real world flying (getting to grips with the 777! I must say the PMDG 777 prepared me very well). Anyway, here are some shots recently to get my mind off the "big jets". Cheers images for upload
  4. Seems odd. Just ensure that your sequence of events is correct: 1: Program the route, the runway, then activate it. 2: Go to DEP/ARR and select the runway and SID. Again, activate it. 3: Go to Perf and ensure all your weights, flap settings, CoG etc are all inputted. Good luck
  5. Hi all, Don't worry, I am not bashing V4 at all, just letting some people know my thoughts. Last night it ended up getting the better of me, so I fell into the trap and bought v4. After installing and loading up the first flight, everything looks good, and am sure it is going to be just amazing when we have the addons available for it (not just compatible, but approved by the developers). I found myself a bit bored after about 20 minutes, simply due to the lack of addons, and therefore immersion. So, my advice would be just hold off a month or so until it is an established sim. I am back to v3.4 for the time being for the immersion of it.
  6. Hi all, I have bitten the bullet and bought V4. I have been using a combination of ASN and REX Texture Direct and Soft Clouds which seemed to work well in V3.4.. However, I have been out of he loop with the likes of Envitex, as well as the newer AS16 & Cloud Art. A few Q's: - Is Envitex like the much improved version of REX? - Does REX still compare with Cloud Art or not at all? Any help, screenshots or advice would be excellent! WS

  9. NELSON (NZNS) - TAKAKA (NZTK) We move up to the northern-most part of the South Island now; this time to Nelson Airport. This is a lovely small city with the most annual sunshine hours in all of New Zealand. The airport has great facilites, with both sealed and grass runways, and an excellent terminal with a cafe/bar etc. Get airborne and make a turn towards the west, saying goodbye to sunny Nelson behind you. Follow the coastline of Tasman Bay, with its long stretching beaches, camping grounds, wineries and orchards. Feel free to stick down nice and low to check out all the best spots! As you approach the western reaches of the large Tasman Bay, you will see Motueka; a small town on your left hand side near the coast. Feel free to pop into Motueka Airport for a circuit or two to hone your skills - but be careful as the airspace can get hectic with all the training that occurs here. You will notice the smooth flowing coastline now gets more rugged and forms tiny coves, golden beaches, and lush bush. We are getting closer to Abel Tasman National Park! Kaiteriteri beach should be down on your left. This is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the country - particularly over the festive season when kiwis and tourists, alike, flock here for the hot weather and stunning gin-clear waters. As you progress westwards, you will be greeted with more and more beautiful bays - you may even spot a kayaker or tramping on the tramping track. At one of the bays, Awaroa, there is a nice lodge and bar, as well as an airstrip. Drop on in if you like! Recently the whole country of NZ rallied together and donated money so we could buy a beach as a nation and have it kept natural for ever. Soon you will round Separation Point, at which point you will turn slightly more south and start tracking towards Takaka. The main township in Golden Bay. This area is known for being quite remote, and full of hippies. It is a stunning landscape! Make a standard overhead join at Takaka and set her down to finish your flight. Enjoy!

  12. Today I decided I wanted to brush the cobwebs off an old favourite of mine, and many simmers around the world: the Aerosoft DHC-600 Twin Otter. Boy, as soon as I jumped in it I realised just how much I had missed it! For those who don't have it, I highly recommend it. To the point where I would say it is one of my all time sim picks. I thought the best way to experience the Twotter in it's natural habitat would be to undertake a freight run from NZTU (Timaru) to NZTL (Tekapo), right in the face of an oncoming Southerly front. Time was of the essence with an approaching storm and as I carried out the startup procedures the wind was steadily picking up. As I taxied out the wind was a direct crosswind, and I also wanted to check out how well the old girl could get off the ground with no the most ideal wind conditions, hence why I am taking off on RWY 02 (not recommended, obviously!). Once airborne I made a turn toward the alps and was forced to level off at 3000ft initially due to the protruding cloud from the nearby weather system. The Twotter steamed along beautifully, and work got even tougher for her as we approached Fairlie, with the Southerly hitting us with a bang. Shaking side to side, up and down, I decided to climb up a bit to get through Burkes Pass and try to miss the worst of the lower level turbulent winds. Eventually we came out into the Mackenzie Basin and set a direct heading for Tekapo, landing on RWY 33 and heading straight inside for a cuppa to warm up. Enjoy the shots. Cheers
  13. Just a single shot here. ORBX FTX NZ South Island, REX Essentials, Carenado C206. It was getting fairly bumpy! The norwest is predominant in summer in these parts, and it spills over the mountains creating a warm Fohn wind, along with turbulence.
