  1. Hey, its not just you :-) I've looked high and low in the cockpit to no avail. The plane does have autopilot functions, but the only way I've found to activate them is using the keyboard control "z", which is the default key to toggle on/off the autopilot. The AP indicator lights up near the top of the main display. Hope this helps.
  2. If you wish to use the autopilot functions of the sim in aircraft that lack autopilots, follow this procedure. Open the folder containing the folders and files for the aircraft you wish to modify. Under SimObjects>Airplanes>Asobo_NNN you will find a text file called "systems". Make a backup of this file before changing. Next, in the AUTOPILOT section of that file, Change "autopilot_available = 0" to "autopilot_available = 1". Save the file. You may now use keyboard shortcuts to activate and use autopilot functions for that aircraft. You may bind your own shortcuts, but here are some default controls to get you started: Autopilot on/off = z (autopilot activates in heading hold mode by default) Nav hold = ctrl + n Localizer hold = ctrl + o Wing leveller = ctrl + v Attitude hold = ctrl + t I have tested these functions in the C152 and they work as expected.   4. I would love to have the A2A comanche in MSFS2020. We have a shortage of classic GA planes with steam gauges. No gps required, VOR/ADF all the way.
  5. I see this as both a game and sim, depending on how you use it. However, I think its safe to say at this point that its a much better VFR sim than an IFR sim.
  6. I fly GA a lot so I have mixture rich/lean and prop rpm up/down mapped to my joystick. Along with: gear, flaps up/down, brakes, pitch trip up/down, and two buttons that control views (inside/outside toggle, and view reset)
  7. Same problem here, but only occasionally. About the option to switch from Azure voices to a text to voice pack in windows (offline)...does this come with windows by default or does one have to install separately?
  8. I started the download at midnight, went to sleep and came back at 8 am to find it fully downloaded. However, it only installed the basic game and I paid for the premium delux. I bought the game on steam, and on their forum the devs say they are aware of the issue. So for anyone with the same problem, they are working on it. I have been playing the basic game this morning and all is well, no crashes.

  10. Hey All, I was wondering, what is the easiest (hopefully inexpensive) way to get real world weather into P3Dv4 (like I could in default FSX)? thanks!
  11. I have ported over a few default fsx planes without difficulty. In principle, if the plane uses .dll files then they might not be compatible with the new 64 bit architecture of the sim. I've tried porting over some older payware, but I'm having trouble with P3D showing the aircraft. it gives an error that it can't display the model. If anyone has ideas about this problem I'd be grateful.
  12. I would also like to know this...I'm enjoying flying the b1900 around in XP11 but the included GPS shows some odd behavior. I assume in planemaker but I have no experience with modifications of this sort.

  15. Steve, Thanks for posting, the wavers were looking weird to me as well. Great job with the quick fix. Is it possible for you to post the corrected swoosh.bmp and swoosh2.bmp files? I have no experience manipulating bmp files. Is there a bug reporting system in P3D?
  16. See above thread for a way to add aircraft, scenery, etc. to P3D while keeping your P3D install "clean". Moving FSX aircraft this way avoids any trouble, and would allow effects to be used custom to each aircraft, if desired, without messing up the default P3D effects. I am new to P3D and got this procedure working without much trouble.
  17. Mark, As a relatively new XP user, I too am missing the ability to show terrain on the GPS like FSX had (and P3D still does). I'm not sure if the real life garmin has this option or not. But, XP has other advantages that I'm enjoying :-)
  18. New to prepar3d, just bought version 4. Does anyone know how to get the simulator to download real world weather? This was easy in FSX, but I can't find the function in P3D. thanks!

  20. Piper mirage: pilot's heading indicator is stuck in one position, doesn't show real heading. Copilots heading indicator works fine. I'm wondering, is this just something I'm seeing? It seems so fundamental that it couldn't be missed...
  21. That's not a good sign... Its not enough for the planes to look pretty, they have to be functional. One easy way for DT to fail to capture regular, experienced simmers is to put looks ahead of function, and ignore the fidelity of their sim. Yeah, they'll get some new people to try it who don't know better, but that won't be enough to sustain the sim long term.

Issues with piper Cherokee gauges and switches (have reported using DT bug report form, but list them here in case I am incorrect or somebody knows easy fixes): Airspeed Indicator says "knots" but is actually reading in miles per hour, mph. The tooltip value does read the correct value in knots. This is important since during the PPL lessons the instructor gives speeds in knots. Vertical speed indicator is incorrect (three times too small). Tooltip value does read correctly. This is also a problem in several other aircraft. Landing light switch doesn't work (all lights can be turned on using the L key, but the cockpit switch does nothing) There doesn't appear to be any switches in the cockpit for operating the strobe and position lights (L does turn them on/off) EGT temperature gauge appears to be wrong...it is pegged all the way to the right during normal flight operation
