Please don't ruin the paintkit and texturing of the 777!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,I just wanted to say that I hope that you're not going to ruin the paintkit and texturing of the 777 like you did with the 737,cutting the fuse into 4 pieces and leaving empty fields in the paintkit causes serious problem for us painters (I have 350 and counting currently), so please give us a texturing like the one of the old 747 and not the NGXI'm sure it's not too late to consider this and I really do hope you will give us a good paintkit and easy texturing againsincerely,Johnny

Well, I think it's cut in pieces in order to get the HD textures, I'm nto sure, but I think it does.

Actually, 4 piece fuselage texture has less distortion than 2 piece and its much better than old 747 one. Yea, its a little difficult to align all pieces but anyway, overall result is much better.

Fuselage sections are cleaner and tighter on the 777 don't worry! The way our textures are mapped to a model is the way professional 3D artists do with video game textures. It cuts down on overhead and allows the video card to process the texture mapping efficiently. Most importantly having a top and bottom texture map allows us to avoid the warping distortion mess that we see when we wrap a left and right mapped texture around the top and bottom. This is the easiest solution and we are moving forward with this method.I promise it will be better, there are no gaps this time around for the 200LR model and when we get to the 300 model again no gaps.We cannot please everybody but it will be significantly improved.Regards,

Yeah guys please listen to Jason here - there's a very good reason it's not one solid easy-to-paint sheet. The graphics engine performs more optimally when it's split up. Vin can probably provide more detailed info on exactly why when he gets back from Germany.

Ryan, I still think the mapping on the 737 could have been handled a little better, although I understand the reasons behind current mapping.Though the main thing I feel is expressed here by us painters is, the paintkit is not extremely helpful... There are many things that could be improved.Good news is - the major nuisance, splitting in horizontal axis, is not to be carried on from the 737.
