PMDG 737:TNG PATCH/UPDATE PLANNING

@ Walter:Well I also do not like automatic landings. I prefere to do them by myself. :-)But the problem is that those gauges compared to the new generation (like provided by RealityXP or PMDG) are not that smooth. The fps of the gauges are to low in my opinion to do an exactly approach in bad conditions. The only one that had good fps from the begining was 767PIC. That

As customers, we expect a good product, that's true! But we must face the fact:Software development, in general all over the world, have alwayshad and still has big problems with time schedule and quality.I have been working with proffesional software testing for manyyears, and I know how lack of testing efforts can result in badproducts. But software development are still a pretty new area, we simplycan't compare to hardware development...yet!The processes and methods for software development are still(in general) very in-mature. That is no excuse, but still the fact. There exists no software without bugs...We must accept that some companies (like PMDG maybe?), just can'tput up a testing effort that covers all combinations of softwareand hardware. The cost for that would be extremely big (it is notreasonable anyway), that in turn would give us products thatwould cost a fortune... - who would by this a/c for $4000 ?If we had discussed software which might lead to personal injuries, that would be a totally different matter, but this is still aPC product - for us to enjoy and enrichen our spare time!A couple of days more or less, who cares? Well, not me anyway becauseI know what they are going through right now.Besides, I really like this a/c, and I like the way PMDG are handlingthe support and the information.Best regards Bj

Fortunately there have been SOME add-ons which only had minor bugs when they were released.2.If it is SUCH a big problem for software-developers to release a product without MAJOR bugs may I suggest a new way to sell such products:-the customer only has to pay let

ShaneSo now you`re not only a self-appointed Screen Shot forum moderator but are also part of the PMDG staff? If you don`t have a definitive answer to a question no one will fault you if you can resist the urge to reply."Patience" It`s funny that you should use that word seeing as you showed so little when it came to the SSW A310 but if I remember correctly no one gave you any snide one word comments either.I`m interested in the projected time of release for the patch as well and if it`s ok with you I`d like to hear it from PMDG.Ron

1. A couple of weeks for a patch is not a long time. To determinethe bugs, correct the software (and internal documentation), re-testparts (or run the whole test-suite) take some time. Although I workwith much bigger software systems, I can tell you that just testinga new release is for us many weeks of work.2. I don't believe that they develop the security systems themselves.Usually these stuff are bought in from other companies.3. Your model, with paying 70% the first time and the rest laterisn't so bad. Actually, some sort of agreement, similar to thatis used in our business.4. I agree that the BETA-test could have been better, but I would still say that some of these bugs should have been discoveredby internal testing.Best regards Bj

Shane,

This has led us to the bad news: I originally expected to issue our update for the airplane on 19JUL. I am moving my EFC time for this update to the time frame covered by 23-26JUL, as we do not fee we have had adequate time to test this update to ensure it does not introduce second tier problems.
Says there 23-26 July, and thats where Joerg got the release dates from.Patience is something that can be used when we are updated on something which we were meant to be today.

Take your time with the patch - one year if necessary. The 737 NG has landed short of the runway. Flightsim shuts down to desktop on a standard high end Dell delivered on the door 2 month ago. It is something wrong with the addon - not my PC. I refuse to tinker with NetBIOS. All other programs and flightsim addons runs perfect. The only differences between the F1Meridian and the 737NG are 100 more betatesters and 6 month more testing. Please - PMDG - take your time - Do not rush. eker

I've done a search but I can't find anything. Has anyone else noticed that when flying at night with the lit cockpit that the flap needle seems to have a black box around it? I noticed it when changing the flaps. As the needle is about to go over the lit 1, 2, 5 etc, there is a black line, box like, displayed against the numbers.

Three weeks ago...You have our money and we have your beta. This was my first and my last PMDG product!

Would you rather have 10,000 quick patches or ONE patch that actually fixes everything? Personally I hate downloading a ton of patches and being disappointed over and over when things are still broken. I'm not saying that releasing the plane with so much wrong/missing was a great thing to do, but at least give them a chance to amaze us with a patch that fixes the problems. :) Posts like this don't really help the situation any.-Shaun

DASSEL:You gotta be sh**in me. This must be your first payware product. PMDG is doing a heck of a job. Keeping us informed regularly is vital and they are doing very well at it. 3 weeks since you bought it and the patch is almost out. That is not bad at all.

I think PMGD's support here has been excellent. I was just as disapointed as anyone with the bugs, but I'm confident based on the way they've responded to the issues here that they're going to fix everything and give us the plane we all paid for. I should have FS2004 tonight and hopefully I'll be able to start fresh with the NG in the new sim here in the next few days.Ryan
