July 25, 200322 yr Hi GuysSorry to bring this subject up again but i seem unable to save my current flightplan in the fmc. I've read numerous threads that suggest that after clicking "Save" from the RTE page, a file name should appear in the scratchpad area. Unfortunately, this is not the case for me - when i click on "Save" nothing appears in the scratchpad and no files are saved in the pmdgflightplans directory. Any help on this would be much appreciated as i'm starting to find this very frustrating. Also, i seem unable to enter place/radial/distance and lat/long waypoints into the RTE page. Each time i attempt to do this, i receive the "NOT IN DATABASE" error message, however i can enter them into the LEGS page ok - am i right in attempting to enter them into the RTE page ? Tutorials and the 767PIC fmc manual suggest i should be able to.Thanks in advance for any help on these problemsRegardsGary
July 25, 200322 yr Gary, for your second question, I have never seen a PB-PB PB-Dist or along TRK waypoint in an original flight plan, these are modified user created waypoint entries to an active flight plan which of course you input from LEGS say for a change to your plan. Place bearing place bearing distance is one example, for each *waypoint* created say from SAC VOR on the LEGS page, the FMC will name each thus SAC01, SAC02, SAC03 etc. But hey I am only 100% on tuesdays ;)[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. July 25, 200322 yr Hello,I do confirm that since the release of the bird I have been abble to enter such waypoints.Cpt Cyrille de Lattrewww.corporateaviationservices.comP IV 2.4 GHZ/1.5 GHZ SDRAM/ATI RADEON 9700 128 MEG/
July 25, 200322 yr I haven't used the save function yet, but don't you have to enter the filename (without extension) on the scratchpad before selecting save? I sure hope so, otherwise how would you select the name you want rather than the FMC making one up for you.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 25, 200322 yr Author From what i can make out from the forum threads, the fmc "selects" a file name based upon the icao airport codes used for the departure and destination airports, eg, egllegpf and places this in the scratchpad to confirm the file name. I also believe that a 3 digit code is placed at the end. However, this is all theory as i can't get it to work...RegardsGary
July 25, 200322 yr If true, boo hiss. I would like to select my own CO ROUTE names without having to edit the filenames inside windows.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 25, 200322 yr I believe that was the same behavior with PMDG's FLY!2 757's FMC, so it may be true.Regards.Ernie.
July 25, 200322 yr You MUST have activated your plan first with "Activate" and "Exec" before you have a chance to save it. There is no text to input for you, if the plan is like ENBR-ENGM, the name in the scratchpad will be "ENBRENGM001", and you just press save. After that, you can rename the plan. Just renamed one to "BERGENOSLO" and loaded it into the FMC, no problem. You can even make a plan in FSBuild, load it into the FMC, attach a STAR to it, and re-save it!In order to Load a plan, REF airport and POS has to be initialized. Then go to RTE page, TYPE in the plan name and load it with Co-Route.
July 25, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the replies but i still cannot save my flight plan. I've activated, executed it, got the "PRE FLIGHT COMPLETE" message - suggesting that i've input all the correct information but when i return to RTE page 1 and click the SAVE lsk - nothing happens. Anyone got any more suggestions - your help would be much appreciated.RegardsGary
July 25, 200322 yr Probably you checked already but did you push the outer yellow line for LSK (most to the left), happened once to me pushing and nothing occurs :( a human mistake ;-)Otherwise sent me you flight plan will test if it works and to save here :-)Andr André
July 25, 200322 yr Gary-You don`t need to have "Pre Flt Comlete" in order to save it. All you need to do is like I said before, just "Exec" it, and maybe attach a SID or STAR at the DEP/ARR page. After that, just forget about PERF INIT and save. PERF INIT you have to "fill out" anyway for each flight, based on fuel weight, weather (temperature) and passenger/cargo weight. My point: You only save tha basic flight plan, not the values for each individual flight, which varies for each flight anyway...BTW Do you have these folders: FS2KFMCWPNavData AND the folder PMDGSIDSTARS in your FS2K directory?
July 25, 200322 yr Author Hi AndrewI'm struggling here...I'm sure i'm entering the flight details into the ACT RTE page correctly and pressing Exec as i've noticed the SAVE option on ACT RTE page 1 doesn't appear until Activate and Exec have been pressed. Also, the flight plan in the ND only turns magenta (from dotted white) AFTER pressing Exec.In answer to your question, yes i have both of the directories - the fmc has no problems recognising airport and waypoints information. As far as the flight plan is concerned, it's pretty basic at this stage (no SID or STAR) :-EGPF (O5) - DCS - LAKEY - CALDA - CROFT - LOVEL - HON - EGLL (09L)All this information is accepted by the fmc and the ND in Plan mode shows the route to be correct...Once again, thanks for your helpGary
July 25, 200322 yr Gary-I`m really sorry I can`t help you out with this one. But you know, the 737 is NOT finished. NOR is the NavData,/FMC. Maybe the smartest thing is to just wait until the 737/FSBuild/FSUIPC/FS2004 and all that stuff is OUT OF the beta stage. Guess that might do us some good :-DThe best to do now is that I try the same plan as you do. I`ll give it a try and see if it works out for me...
July 26, 200322 yr Gary,I just programmed in your flightplan, and it worked like a charm. I was able to save it right away. Go to my site (link), and E-Mail me from there, so I can return the flightplan to you.
