Proposal to PMDG's top brasses

Featured Replies

Hi,I have read and replied to a number of posts requesting Sids and stars. It seems that there is a need for a more comprehensive database. Therefore I suggest to make available my own database of Sids, Stars and Apps which I created using Terry's converter. The database consists of 1021 airports and was originally compiled for PIC 767. It was converted to PMDG format using the latest conversion program of Terry and the latest available navaids database. However some Sids and Stars have not been updated to the latest Jeppesen modifications, this is a long manual cross-checking process which is still in the work. To make a long story short the database works with the current navaids in PMDG's FMC but in some instances may not match exactly the newest Jeppesen charts. If you guys are interested please let me know how and where to upload a 600K+ zip file which contains the1021 airports already done.Michael

Send it to me:[email protected]'ll place it on planner.games-are-forever.com server.Unless someone offers a better place :)

Thanks for the offer but I prefer to wait until someone from PMDG comments. My idea was to see whether PMDG is interested to post this database on their site with some kind of possibility to update the database at x intervals of time.Michael

Hi,Again, I am waiting for a reply from PMDG before sending this database to all corners of the world. It would make sense to me that PMDG centralizes this kind of stuff especially if it is going to be updated regularly. So let's wait for their respons.Michael

It might also make sense to wait on the bandwidth eating until SU2 comes out and we see the new SID/STAR syntax improvements which could render a new converter required ;)Ray

Hi,Paul, email already aent and already had communication with Robert.Ray, I do not know about bandwidth problems. Syntax improvements would certainly be welcome as additional tools for the creation of Sids and Stars. May be you are referring to forced right or left turns among other things. However these are what I would call nice tools to make life easier. The necessary tools are already available to create good Sids and Stars. What would be much more helpful and efficient would be to solve the transition issue. Imagine transitions could be interpreted in the FMC. This would mean a huge gain in space, programming time, it would reduce by an important factor the risk of errors etc...Anyway I am only dreaming....Michael

We have transitions AND approaches right now ;). So you guys will too in the upcoming patches...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Yup some very nice improvements to the DEP/ARR page on the FMC coming up - transitions, approaches+transitions+missed approaches, runway specific procedure support, TRK commands, speeds, and (hopefully) soft alt constraints in the syntax etc...Ryan
