Hard to read instrument panel...help??

Featured Replies

Just downloaded new 737. Am I the only one who finds it difficult to read the instrument panel? The numbers are very difficult to read on the autopilot. The zeros look like solid blocks.I have a good monitor: 21" Iiyama 501, GeForce3 Ti500 graphics card. I'm using 1024x768x32, but increased to higher resolutions with no imporvement in the clarity. Can I be doing something wrong?I have a link to 2 jpgs showing the difference between the standard 737 included with FS2004 and comparing to the PMDG.Any help out there??Thanks,TJ

you should increase your resolution to at least 1600 x 1200 x 32see then, mine is blur in 1024x768 but crystal clearn in a higher resolution.

TJ you need to sign your real name to your posts in this forum thank you.I only have this issue when running at 800x600, by default I go 1024x768 and do not have that problem. Try it with x1024 and see if this works, so 1280x1024. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Are you sure you're running at 1080x768? Remember that the resolution you set for your desktop isn't necessarily the same as the resolution that FS will use - you need to set it separately in FS Display Options.FWIW I use 1280x1024 on an LCD display and have no trouble at all reading the panel. Trying to make sense of what it's telling me, on the other hand, is a different story....- Pete

Hi Randy,I have more or less the same problem and I already posted a message but without any replyI use a Sony 17 inch flatscreen LCD and the second digit of the altitude bar in the selected FL (magenta color)PFD is missing. For example : FL 320 reads 3 00, 12100 ft reads 1 10. In the current altitude box (white color) the last digit is also partly missing, for example 12100 ft reads 1210. I also noticed that a small upper part of the PFD is hidding by the PFD frameAny ideas ?Thanks in advancekind regards,Dimitri.

Boy I have not heard of that ever lol. I see these types of problems as re-installers. If you updated and any file was not copied over that needed to be or you forgot to check the correct FS files for your setup you will have strange happenings. So I would use the remover tool and re-install the original then SU1-1 FULL. Your monitor size has nothing to do with missing digits.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hi,i have the same problem with some partly hidden digits as described by Dimitri. Other than that, the panel is clear (1280x1024 on TFT screen).I ran the base-installer followed by SU-1 and thats all. I have never reinstalled the 737.Cheers,Michael

I posted some related on this issue on the "M"ain Panel view, cause I really dont like to HAVE TO FLY on the Zoom view, where we cant see many panel indicators and switches, and dont like to HAVE TO USE 1600 x astronomic resolutions to read the panel."2D PANEL REDABILITY - LESS ANTI-ALIAS ON MAIN VIEW==================================================Other short question is on the redability of the 2D panel on the "M" main view. Its hard to read the displays even with high resolutions and a 17' monitor, isn't that a case of reducing the anti-alias of the DU's?"I think this is a question of gauge anti-aliasing or something related to it. Anyway, it doesnt matter that is a question of anti-aliasing or other tecnology, its something that on MY opinion, need some work on.Eduardo Tonetto

These forums are so great. I can remember years ago struggling with problems for weeks, but now Pete has solved my problem overnite. For someone using FS for many years you would think I could have figured out I wasn't changing the display settings in FS, but rather just on my desktop. My graphics look great now. ThanksI'm humbled and grateful.Don>Remember that the resolution you set for your>desktop isn't necessarily the same as the resolution that FS>will use - you need to set it separately in FS Display>Options.>>>- Pete
