Wing Flex

Featured Replies

Hi Fraser,The wing flex in your latest Dc-10 is awesome. For those of us that like watching such stuff (someone did a poll here quite a while ago, and it was interesting that the people who are RW pilots liked wing views a lot more than those that arent- I don't know what that says though about "as real as it gets" :) ).I haven't flown in a DC-10 now for years, and can't recall the amount of actual flex. Although the wing does droop down when not in flight. But the B744 and 777 are very noticeable.So- when are you guys doing a flexing wing for one of these? :)Bruce.

Well I guess you don't want to see what the DC10 wings do when you get into some turbulence, and thats turbulence in the air, not on the ground ;).The DC10's wings are actually quite rigid compared to other large planes, so the flexing is not as great as would be on Airbuses or Boeings.Fraser

For those of you that like to see 'Wing Flex', the RFP Ready for Pushback software of the 747-200 series is awesome...Regards,JackKGSP

Hi Jack,Go get this SGA model DC-10 (freeware). Put some turbulence into wind or clouds, it's awesome. I have RFP, but as I recall the flex there is only related to gear strut compression (ie. motionless in flexed position once take-off is achieved).Bruce.

"I guess I will need to bow to the superior wisdom of the PMDG's developers"Dear Fraser-the sarcasm is unwelcome and completely unnecessary. If you want to discuss such matters, please do so with the dignity afforded to all developers, especially since you're a guest (welcome!) in our forum. On to the subject at hand: with the release of FS2004 SDKs, indeed it looks plausible to implement wingflex - in fact, it's being designed for the 744.As John stated, though, we're too far into production beta testing to fit it into the 800/900 product. Thanks for listening,
