Insufficient fuel message FMC

Featured Replies

Hi PMDG Team,Thanks for this great product, enjoying it a lot.Yesterday I flew online from EGLL to EKCH and it took a very long while before I could take off.Sometime during taxi I received the 'Insufficient Fuel' message in the FMC.I suspect the fuel prognose calculation is also done while on the ground. Because of the slow movement and the long time it took, that probably was the reason I received the message. Is it true the fuel prognose is done while still on the ground?

I get those too. As the captain of the plane, it was at my discretion to disregard those message, knowing that once I get in the air to cruise alt the prediction will be more accurate and everything will be fine :)

Well, what about if I calculated the needed fuel right for a given trip (like LEPA-EDDC at FL350 and 80%Pax, 33% Cargo, light sidewind and temps like real these days (AS2004)) and still getting this warning in the air from FMC that I will run out of fuel? Even when I, as experienced at the end, have 4000lbs still in reserve after landing at EDDC, befor in the air FMC told me I will run out of fuel? That IS strange!

Can no one here shed some light uppon this issue? Or does the real B737NG Pilots have the same problem that the FMC doesnt compute the fuel need correct?

What did you enter in the FMC for reserve fuel?

3.0 or 3000lbs mostly my Flightplaner and my Loader tells me:FS Flight Plan File: PALMA_DE_MALLORCA to DRESDEN, 973 nm, Alt: 35000, IAS: 276,04, gs=465,88Aircraft: Boeing 737-900 PMDG Mixed ClassFlight Time: 2,29 hours (gate to gate)Fuel Suggested : 18779 poundsTotal Weight : 159.078 pounds (72.156,34 kilos)Zero Fuel Weight: 140.299 pounds (63.638,37 kilos)Payload Weight : 46.689 pounds (21.177,81 kilos)Baggage Hold Wt : 6.520 pounds (2.957,41 kilos)Food/Equip Wt : 490,32 pounds (222,40 kilos) Number of Flight Crew: 2, Attendants: 3 Total number of passengers and crew: 168But I load about 19500 lbs fuel to be at the save side. I made the trip and had 4000lbs in the fuel tanks after touch down. Why did the FMC cry at me not having enought fuel???

I almost always get an insufficient fuel message right after takeoff, just ignore it and continue with my flight if I am sure I have enough fuel, which I mostly am.And I enter the reserve fuel I get in the flight plan sheet for my flight in SVA that Egbert here is leading. Fuel data and flight plan if any want to check..Fuel in kilos..FUEL INFOTAXI ...../0.2TRIP ...../3.7CONT FUEL ...../0.5EDDS ...../1.5FINAL RES ...../1.0EXTRA ...../0.0TTL FUEL ...../6.9(FPL-SK631-IS -738/M-SIJRWY/S -0905EKCH -FL400 BISTA UT503 MIC UN850 AGATI UL190 KEMAD UN851 MASEK UL604 DEMAB T170 ARNIX UN851 FUL T153 GED -1040EDDF)

I would get that not long after reaching my flight level. I would look at the fmc and it said ie 0.9 at the destinating airport. A little later it would be back up to ie 7.4 or some other number for the destinating airport. But I do have a question about flight levels. Can the 700 go to fl410? The fuel planner only goes to fl370.

All the NG's can go up to FL410, must be a error in the fuel planner.

Not that this will help at all, as my skill with this plane is still minimal - everytime i've had an FMC insufficient fuel error, it was because I didn't use the crossfeed properly...just to throw that out there. If it's a fuel planner problem, max out the fuel 100% across the board to max gross - that should solve the problem...Best,sg

Hi there. Please also take into account that you may get the warning during climb out due to extra fuel consumption. Once stable at cruise level, the fuel burn will be reduced, and the warning will cease. Because of this the FUEL AT may vary during climb and cruise.During cruise, you can get the warning if strong headwinds occur which have not been calculated for.
