No TCAS During Online Flight

Featured Replies

I flew tonight from KJAX to KATL and set up the flight per Lee Hetherington's tcas tutorial and I saw no traffic.I was called by jax center about traffic 10 miles at my 11 o'clock at my level never saw it tcas was set for 40 miles in the N setting.I had a US Airways calling me if I had him at my FL ahead of me 20 miles, never had him but he had me on his tcas with FSNav.I was desending into ATL had the switch set for below was called out traffic from ATL Center who had to divert me but the traffic never showed up never had a tcas alert.I am set up with FS internal as the tutorial says to do,what could be the problems? JeffG

Make sure that the TCAS display is on. On your EFIS control panel, you need to press the center of the knob that you use to zoom in/out of the navigation display. It should say TFC on the middle if you look closely. If you still can't find it, look in the PMDG 737 800/900 help file "Cockpit and sytems" and go to page 61 (aka EFIS Control Panel - Navigation Displays) and it is button 5. Just put your mouse over it until you don't have a + or - and it's in the middle of it.Nick B.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.25 Ghz (405 mhz FSB)Soyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2

Every switch and button for tcas was set right. JeffG

Yes Randy it is installed, but Lee says you don't have to use it and if you do you change to the FSUIPC option.I am following the letter of the tutorial and flew again from LAX to SFO and still no traffic again. Jeff

I have the same problems too.....I never seen any aircaft in my ND although the plane is near me.....Am I need to set "FS2004 Internal" in PMDG Styles menu??I have tried the thing that Nickman said and I can't use the AIBRIDGE....I am using FS2004 and 737NG V1.3

>Yes Randy it is installed, but Lee says you don't have to use>it and if you do you change to the FSUIPC option.I am>following the letter of the tutorial and flew again from LAX>to SFO and still no traffic again.> JeffUnless you have the option set to display non threatening traffic, then you'll never see any traffic unless it's sufficient to generate a Traffic Alert or Resolution Advisory. Even if you DO have the option set to display non threatening traffic, there's still a vertical limit (don't know how many feet) above and below that applies, unless you use the bias switch. You may have this set up correctly, I don't know.I've been using:XP ProSBRelay 1.2Squawkbox 2.5FS2004FSUIPC 3.22With FS in multiplayer mode, and the TCAS set to internal, and I've had good results.

Tim, I am using the same specs and when I am in a climb its set for above and in a desent set for below and have non-threating traffic checked and my range set to 40 on tcas and under styles for traffic range to see if that would help. Jeffg

Just a guess but does the plane need to be set up to use FSUIPC not the FS2004 Internal?Blue SkiesKevin

Not according to Lee's tutorial,it should be set to FS Internal. JeffG

I never wrote a tutorial.Do you see the aircraft in the MP session? Can you see them out the window (especially if you have labels turned on to make them stand out)? Does SBRelay show the other aircraft? If they don't make it into the MP session, you won't see them with the "internal" option.Do you have the traffic option in SquawkBox set to 40nm? I think it defaults to 5nm. This is the option that controls how close traffic needs to be to be loaded into the MP session.Does your ND show "TFC" or "TA ONLY" along the left middle? If you fly with AI traffic (not online), do you see traffic on TCAS?The more information you provide, the better help you can get.Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)

Sorry it was George Morris,I had a message from you mixed with the tutorial and thought it was your tutorial.I have labels on and I do see other aircraft outside in MPI have never changed the setting in Squawkbox and my ND shows TFC on left side. When I fly with AI traffic I see the other aircraft on the tcas. How do you change the traffic range in SB?Is it under the tcas in SB? JeffG

I don't have SB in front of me right now, but if you click right in SB, you'll get a menu. I think one of the cascading choices is Traffic range or something like that. It is about halfway down the main menu. If you've never seen it, it is almost certainly set to 5nm.Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)

Please let us know if this was the problem. I will modify the tutorial to include setting SB to 40nm.Thank you

George Morris
