June 30, 200421 yr PMDG,I know it is not PMDG's fault that ATI card owners (still get the stuttering with the latest driver set) get a stuttering in the VC gauge refresh rate even when they are turned up to max value through the PMDG menu. I also know you guys are aware of the problem and have tried to tweak the -800/900 upgrade to help out. I was just wondering if you guys have been able to figure out anything else that might help us ATI users in regards to the upcoming 744? Eric
June 30, 200421 yr Commercial Member Eric-Which card specifically is giving you the headache?I'm running a 9800XT... I've found that a far more effective control for the stutter is to limit the fps within MSFS... By bringing the FPS limit down to a reasonable level for my machine, it eliminated the memory buffer induced stutters....Granted- your mileage may vary- and you may already have tried this... but it's worth mentioning just in case. Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
June 30, 200421 yr Author Robert,I have the 9800Pro Radeon card. I have a 3.2Ghz machine and 1GB of RAM. I will try lowering my FPS limit and see what that does. I had it set at 24 but will back it down to 18 and see what happens. What is yours set at Robert? Eric
June 30, 200421 yr I have an ATI 9700 pro and wasn't aware of or seen any stuttering problems while flying the 737. ????Willhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
June 30, 200421 yr Author Will,When your climbing or descending, look at the altitude readout on the PFD while in VC. Does it seem smooth like it is in 2D or somewhat choppy compared with the 2D? Eric
June 30, 200421 yr I have a 9600pro (old one, similar to the XT) with an amd 2600+ and 1gig ram.I do not normally have stutters in the vc, but the gauges framerate is fixed at 2 no matter what i do.Even if i am at 38000ft with frames limited to 20.I always have 2 in the vc, even if i set 15.And i am not alone, as there were other posters complaining about this in other threads before.
June 30, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Eric! (and all),For ATI users... you should find the upcoming model patch for the 600/700 improves gauge refresh rates quite well (in the 600 and 700).The same techniques will be used for the 744 in order to best optimize performance.Best,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
June 30, 200421 yr VERY GOOD news... because this is VERY frustrating...:-( I simply cannot fly this bird in VC during critical phases like TO, Climb Out, etc... Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
