If the 747 is the queen, whats this?

Featured Replies

If you put this and the 747 on an apron, which would you choose? I know which one I'm flying home in. I don't have 500 friends, but I bet I could find 92 if I had a Concorde. But seriously though, the 74 is the queen, what was concorde? Been flying this bird around the world. Got bored of the 73 bus and left it in china, it just takes sooooo long to get anywhere, and nothing every happens, you sit and watch the computer fly. Concorde, every flight is eventful.

Paul, please resize your images per AVSIM image posting guidelines. As to what is the Concorde? I believe it's retired and out of service, while the Queen still rules the skies ;-)

>As to what is the Concorde? I believe it's retired and out of >service, while the Queen still rules the skies ;-)Hear Hear !!Well, concorde can be the .... ermm.... JACK!! .. :(

A couple of the guys used to refer to her as The Rocket; Not only for her climb performance, the last BA1 was piloted into a supersonic 15,000fpm descent!!Best Regards.http://www.systemsim.co.uk/concsig.jpgSSTSIM][/font

Its the smile on your face when you hurtle past a 74 mid atlantic on VATSim and then get to wave at it plodding along again on the way back. From 60,000ft Mach2.02 the 747 looks more like a rather fat old cow than a queen. It makes you feel disgusted that it's stuffed and mounted in a museum and the moment they cut off her wings Boeing and Airbus want to design new SSTs. Hmmm. They should have let Virgin buy them.

If those two A/C are one the same appron (747 and Concorde), I sertenly would choce the 747

Paul, who's Concorde is that? The vc looks amazing.

Well are you talking about FS or RL? In rl I doubt 90 friends could have afforded to have had the pleasure of buying a ticket on that aircraft! And to be sure, the amount of 747s in the sky compared to the Concords in this respect prove who the Queen is eh ;-)? Flying is not about how fast but how economical....Best Wishes,
Randy J. Well, i would certinly choose the 744. Ever saw them next to each other? It's because i think it's the only HUGE plane with lines that gracefull. The 744 is a huge lady, but still one with majestic shapes!Cheers,Ian Udinga

Since the Concorde wasn't profitable I would have to say the 747. It has made and still makes alot of airlines and aircargo outfits alot of money. The Sr-71 can "blow the doors" off the Concorde, The X-15 can beat them both, but only for shorts flights. I think to be Queen, the aircraft must have good lines, good handling manners, Passenger comfort, and make a good profit. The 747 does all this many times over. I have seen the Concorde in real life up close on the ground and saw it take off. Truely a wonderful aircraft but not an easy ship to fly or land. It was the hotrod of the passenger aircraft. That is why Airbus is putting its money on the 380. Bringing back passenger comfort. If the 380 lives up to the hype the 747 just may be eclipsed. That will be a sad day in my opinion. I flew my first 747 not long after they came out when they were the flagships of there air carriers. I have never forgotten the experience. btw... yes I am that old.Ray

Now a new airline or one not on the brink might be interested. I can say with certainty that the 747 will be Queen for a while before it is really retired!Best Wishes,
Randy J. I have been lucky enough to travel on both the Concorde (NYC-LHR) once and a 744 many times and let's compare apples to oranges. The BA concorde was all one class (apparently First Class) so let's compare that with 744 First Class of, say, BA, QF and SQ - no comparison. The service I have recieved on these three airlines to date has been second to none and If I have to travel great distances I would choose the First Class service of a 744 than that of the BA Concorde. I havn't, unfortunately, been lucky enough to visit the cockpit of a concorde, nor do I know what most pilot's would prefer to fly. I can only speak from a passengers point of view, that is, until the PMDG 744 is released, I think then, I will have a better understanding of it's cockpit operations.Yes the Concorde was stylish, quick and convenient, but as posted above, very expensive to travel on and operate.Long live the 744andit's the journey that matters!

:-lol HaHaHAAAAAAAAAShe most definitely is the Queen of the town and the world and most definitely the sky. She's taken everyone for a ride amle or female, famous or infamous. Only a queen could have endured so many marriages, to so many suitors, and still have the grace to not only be here, but to have survived the many cosmetic enhancements and still captivate so many people, and have room enough on board to carry here own fans or cabinet, or political party.Yes she has kicked them all around the town and what beautiful curves and humps, and whines, chimes, dings, dongs, beeps, and aural sounds she will make for she is the Queen of the sky, and of course, the Concorde with its nobility, mobility, and sharp angles, are her swift knights. They flew higher to oversee the queen and faster, to scout ahead of her, but there is a grand finale. As the Concorde, has now been retired, it was a sign of a new age, perhaps even a new millenium. For now, on the verge, of yet another member, in the upper echelon, of the noble family of air vessels, comes the completion of the era. The king has arrived and will now take his throne and title, in high fashion and style, with many amenities to offer not only o his beloved queen, but the new many loyal subjects he shall carry off in a deep roar as only he will make, and step firmly, announced onto the thresholds, of many new airports, as a way now has been prepared. The King, is the Airbus A380.Long live the King. Size does matter.I bid you all a good evening with that last bit of knowlege. You shall worry no more nor weep. The family was meant to come together like this in the form of a new era, and discipline.Aloha to all and to all a good eveningIkelaela Kalua
