October 16, 200421 yr Hello,After spending over a year figuring out how to use the FMC (still learning) I now find that I'm just not satisfied flying anything else. Oh sure, many other aircraft look great but basicly they're all the same. . . different panel, same experience. There are a few other rides that have an FMC. Anything out there that compares to PMDG? I have been looking at the CRJ and I know Phoenix, although perhaps dated have sophisiticated flight planners. What do you guys think.Terry
October 16, 200421 yr I didn't find up to date nothing that might even compare to the PMDG - concerning flight model quality and flight systems. But, there are various GA aircraft, which I don't own, in which many people swear and say they are awesome. You might want to take a look into products from Flight1 and Aeroworx. So far I've heard, they have some good products. But be prepared for some "standard" navigation, without FMC :)

Much study and reading all tutorials I could get my hands on was all I needed to feel comfortable with it. I am cetain that there are still aspects of the FMC that I am unsure of and have yet to learn. Anyway, after getting to the point where I could fly and handle the PMDG, I am not even interested in flying anything else. When you got the best, why settle for less :)
October 16, 200421 yr Thanks for the comments. I love the 737NG but you do know that "variety" is the spice of life.:-) Any remarks or observations about the CRJ? I would guess the system modeling is not up to the PMDG crossbar but the sreens look pretty darn good and if the FMS or FMC works??? Has anyone tried it?Terry
October 16, 200421 yr Hello! There is nothing to compare with PS1 from Aerowinx (www.aerowinx.com).Ok, PMDG-Add-ons are very good, but if you're looking for real system simulation and not just eye candy and basic system sim, PS1 is the right product. PS1 is used not only by enthusiasts, but also by professionals. It's not my intension to critizise PMGM, but it will be VERY hard to surpass PS1' quality.GreetingsWalter
October 16, 200421 yr Geezz with the PS1 things already. PS1 is NOT an add-on, it runs in DOS and costs 3X as much (well not Ariane lol), it's a sim unto itself. It is NOT a flight simulator product regardless of people running it in FS. Now people keep saying how great it is for NOW, but one thing PS1 could never do, namely be a complete package and certainly does not look good. It's systems are ALMOST CBT quality but even it is not perfect. This 747 will MATCH PS1 is some ares that I know. Other than that, certain things just don't matter in flight simulator. But I trust there is not ANYTHING in flight simulator add-ons that will even come within a light year....Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. October 16, 200421 yr Well then, I guess we'll have to wait until other developers include the Flight Management System in the aircraft that could or should have them. Perhaps the next version - FS2006?? will include this. I would imagine that the upcoming 744 will be awsome and be another jump ahead in complexity. I'll be looking forward to it. But, I'm not sure if I will buy it. This is a long-haul aircraft and I'm a short/medium hop guy. I don't have the 4-8 hr. block to devote to simming. Of course, the time warp is always there it you want it.Damn you PMDG for ruining all the other aircraft in FS2004 for me. :-)Terry
October 16, 200421 yr Different companies make different aircraft. I know of at least one other aircraft made by another company for MSFS that is actually that good, an airline has approached the creator to use his software and panel for ground school for other aspiring pilots. Hence, he is unable to continue making further products and his product line has ended with his latest release. I don't want to seem like I'm advertising this aircraft on a PMDG forum so I will withold which aircraft and company I'm talking about unless you fine folks really want me to give you the details. If so, I will send them via private message. My point in this is, I love the PMDG planes, will continue to buy them because they are the quality I would like. But, with all due respect, they are not the be all and end all of modern simulated aircraft.Just my $2 worth*:-* Goran
October 17, 200421 yr For sure there are other MSFS addons as good as PMDG737 but what company and ac are you talkin'bout???Really want 2 know... Best regards, Fritz ESSONO

Kinda like going into a Ford Owners Club and telling everyone how great the latest GM Products are.
October 17, 200421 yr True, that's why I didn't say what plane or company it was. I did sing PMDG's praises as well.Goran
October 17, 200421 yr Got your mail...Got the addon too!!!I'm down with you on this one Goran. Peace! Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
