October 17, 200421 yr Who you talking to, Tero? I'm assuming not me. Because its very obvious to anyone that has both these a/c which has the better FMC.I DO have both. So if anyone should know, it'll be me.Jonno.
October 17, 200421 yr I have both DF and PIC too...And for me PIC is much better... I really don't understand why you say that Jonno. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
October 17, 200421 yr You talking the FMC or the a/c? The FMC for the 737 is better.Firstly the PIC doesnt come with hardly any SID/STAR's unlike DF's. You can't change the climb, cruise or descent speed like DF's. You can't choose speed or path descent like DF's. More options. Thats enough to make DF's better.
October 17, 200421 yr SIDs and STARs change all the time. There are many databases in the internet that hold procedures for the old PIC. I have hardly ever had to program my own procedures for it, and when I have, it has been very easy. You can do all of the things you mention with the PIC FMC (or should I say AFDS). Don't assume that the 737 FMC is 100% equal to that of the 767.The FMC of the old PIC was and still is state of the art.Tero PPL(A)
October 17, 200421 yr I also program my own procedures. But still. All things being equal, the DF FMC has more options available then the PIC FMC.Its simple. Its better.
October 17, 200421 yr Heh, you might want to give some backing up for that comment. What exactly is better in it ?Tero PPL(A)
October 17, 200421 yr Tero try not to take the bait so easily lolI LOVE PMDG....one of my favorite addons.on another note! I solved my VC FPS blues, appearently Active Camera had a memory leak, and it was the cause for the leak. All good now, I can pretty much hold steady at 20 FPSEDIT: fixed my terrible typingGary HayesLevel-D Simulations Development TeamNo im not a "real" pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.P4 3.0ghz w/HT & FSB..GeForce FX 5900 ultra 256MB..1 gig PC3200 DDR RAM..Sound Blaster Audigy w/5.1 THX Gary Hayes My Youtube No i'm not a "real" pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
October 17, 200421 yr Randy you seem to be very confident about this project you have even compared it with the mighty PS1. What is it the PMDG 744 will offer which the PS1 cant besides eyecandy features. PS1 is a pretty complex simulation used by pros...What kind of areas are you talking about that will match up to PS1?Alex
October 17, 200421 yr Now now Tero, you mean no engine out pages is state of the art? WHo is comparing? Equal is relative my friend.Best Wishes,
Randy J. I said real airlines have desired to use it for system training, so when you here fans of certain aircraft state their opinions remember this fact. While we have the PIC guys around here, here is what I have stated in regards to PIC comparing it to the NG http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=136&topic_id=66927&mesg_id=66927&page=3 I think this states the record clearly enough. I seriously do not want this thread to become a *My sim Vs. your sim* thread. As for PS1, it is NOT a MS flight simulator program. If you want to compare this try Aerosim system trainers, at least this is FAA approved and also "flys", PS1 is not FAA approved and NEVER will be. And for that matter how anyone can compare something with a price tag that well exceeds any add-on in flight sim is beyond me. But I will say it again. in FS there will NOT be another that will come close and I mean ANY.... Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! October 17, 200421 yr Just to set the record straight from my end, I have never known PMDG to brag about being the best. I was referring to a few other simmers who were saying this.I haven't tried the PIC767 so I can't comment on this one. As for PS1...actually, let's not even bring that overpriced, geriatric system based program up.;) Now you're really teasing with that last statement.Goran
October 18, 200421 yr Randy,I was not talking about PMDG here at all. Who is comparing indeed ?But if we are, remember that we're talking about products that are _three_ years apart from each other (release time, now actually four). One engine out page doesn't really count for that time, now does it ?All relative, Randy.Tero PPL(A)
October 18, 200421 yr Sheesh-kabab. Its only a game! The PIC works fine. Does the job. Just that I prefer the SLIGHTLY better flexibility the DF FMC has in a few areas which I've already mentioned.Next you'll be saying the PIC FMC is better then PMDG's FMC!AS long as it gets me from A to B, hey, I'm happy.
October 18, 200421 yr Oh thought you guys were going PMDG-PIC lol. I seem to have missed the DF-PIC thing. Sorry...these threads always sem to levitate towards that arena, glad that it has not ;-D Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! October 18, 200421 yr Hey, No problem, mate. I just like to hear the reasoning behind some of the comments I hear. I don't want people to get the wrong idea about things, that's all.happy landings!Tero PPL(A)
