October 31, 200421 yr Peaceful Rant.I think some of the people in here are making more from the statements that ask for an update than what they're worth. This is a very similar situation that happened on another forum with another aircraft and it got so annoying to the staff of the company, they moderated the forum. However, having said that, I think the best thing to do is to tease us with 1 or 2 screenshots when something new has been done every 2 weeks or so. I have kept quiet about the 747 for months now and I remember when it was stated on the homepage that the 747 would be available by summer (in america) which is Australia's winter. It is now past the halfway point in Spring over here and still no 747 and from what I assume, won't be ready by Christmas because that's not far away (7 weeks) and no word at all from the team. When there's no word, automatic assumption would say there is still a LOT to do.Yes, I want a top product, bug free, state of the art, etc...But, I feel safe in speaking for a lot of people when I say this, a status report on what has been done, added, modified, estimated completion, even if it has to be corrected later on, wouldn't be too much to ask. Maybe like a checklist of things to do and things that have been done and if required, modifications on the already completed sections if they are needed. And if you get some balloonheads who say they want MORE details, shrug them off. We have had no updates or new screenshots in the past 8 weeks, perhaps more.I have no doubt that PMDG will make 8 figures in sales from this product. And pleease, (I may be wrong) don't use this as a marketting tool by witholding information so as to arouse high expectations and increase sales. It will be a fantastic product and will sell in the thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands.Peaceful Rant Over.RegardsGoran
October 31, 200421 yr Goran, I think you have said what we are all thinking,I know the PMDG is very busy getting this going and not to add to your message but I hope they read it and give some kind of update not "we are working on it there's your update". JeffG
October 31, 200421 yr http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/744_MenRay18have u guys seen this panel preview...it loooks sweeeetAlexPS: Is it possible to make the overhead view flat, instead of having it at an angle...
October 31, 200421 yr I agree with Goran I believe it may be a marketing stratergy. But other developers have revealed so much more about there future products (via screenshots/videos) and have "wetted the appetite" of consumers. If PMDG are in the position to do so why won't do the same?Denis Allen
October 31, 200421 yr I also agree with Goran !! we havent had any updates or any new shots in a long long time and the aircraft is way after schedule so im wondering whats going on !?.Best regards: Alex
October 31, 200421 yr >the aircraft is way after>schedule so im wondering whats going on !?.And what was the schedule? Summer 2004? I was unable to find a single post anywhere by a PMDG representative that would give an estimated completion date. In case I missed it please let me know where it is. Also on the subject of "new shots" I think it is in bad taste to teach someone how to run their marketing machine. There may be 100 reasons why they don't want to show anything yet.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.

One of the sales tactics that I use a lot is to whet the appetites by saying "yes, I have something that is fantastic, revolutionary, but I can't show you or tell you anything about it...yet. You'd be surprised at the response I get when that gets around to a lot of other people and I get phone calls begging me for what I have. In roughly 4-6 weeks, my client base doubles.Just to satisfy curiosities out there, I'm a personal trainer, self employed for 7 years. So imagine me saying, hypothetically, that I have something that will melt the fat off and show the 6 pack in 8 weeks. Trust me, it works. But I only use it when I need a few extra clients. In no way am I teaching PMDG how to run a business. That's up to them and they're still in business, which speaks volumes. I shrugged it off when it didn't come out by mid summer. A little disappointed, but happy that I'll get it eventually. But there was definitely a scheduled release date for Mid Summer 2004 back in February or March put up on their web page. Then that got taken off around early to mid summer so it's impossible to point you to a link. Oh, and I didn't tell them how to run their marketing machine. I said "if" they were using that kind of marketing tactic. IMO, I don't think it's fair to dangle a few screenshots to potentially thousands of eager 747-400 fans, wait a few months for new ones, then dangle a few more then nothing for a few more months, except "we're working on it". That could mean anything. I'm pretty sure there are many of us here, like myself who are desparate for updates, any kind of updates. They can take a year, 2 years to get it all perfect and finished. I don't care. If it's of the quality or better than the 737, I'm definitely buying it. But updates don't take long to post. less than 3 minutes to mention what has been done and what needs to be done. I'm sure the schedule would allow for that. Sure you'll get people who aren't happy with small updates and DEMAND a ton of information and a definite release date. Like I said before...shrug them off. They don't like it? Who cares? End of even more peaceful rant.:-jumpy RegardsGoran

November 1, 200421 yr Might have to check it out. That's why release dates are not a good idea. Updates, yes. Release dates, no.RegardsGoran
