November 28, 200421 yr I know the 744 is in Alpha Stage so I won't repeat others questions, but I do have some of my own.1. Will it feature the Compact Engine Display? If the Lower EICAS fails.2. Will it feature the "Alternate Mode Expanded Flap Position Indication"? In the event of an hyd fault etc.3. Since there wasn't any in-flight screen-shots, I assume the 744 will have Refrence Speed on the Speed Tape and Minimum Maneuvering Speed and Minimum Speed displayed on the PDF.4. Missing PFD Failure Flags. See Picturehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/99143.jpg5. Will it have the "EXCESS DATA" on the ND?http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/pro.../Untitled-4.jpg6. On this Screen-shot we see All pumps on and Cross-feed valves off. Since the flaps is up, assuming cross-feed valve 2&3 is on(the garded swich) and 1&4 is off(not normal, when all tanks is filled), the FSMCs sould have opended cross-feed valve 2&3. Also there shouldn't be any Green Flow Lines, since the engine is off. If the Engines where on there sould also be a few more Green-lines than on the picture.Best Regards,Martin DahlerupI know it's still Alpha Stage and that your not building another Ps1.

November 28, 200421 yr >4. Missing PFD Failure Flags. See PictureMartin...Please note that the fail flags in your picture are not all a result of, say, having the IRS's off or having a power failure. You won't see, for example, the "FD" fail flag unless you have an FCC fault (so you can't really describe them as "missing"). Also, some flags are optional. I note that your diagram is missing a "FPV" flag (as seen in some of the other PMDG previews). Also, some flags appear in different places, etc...>6. On this Screen-shot we see All pumps on and Cross-feed valves off..... There are lots of other anomalies evident here, but, you may not have noticed, it was specificially mentioned when the preview pics were released that the Fuel Synoptic was still a work in progress.By the sounds of it, you are a PS1 fan (?)... I think you'll find that quite a few of the PMDG team have PS1 sitting on their computers for comparison, so they will be using that as a reference (but will consult the experts if they don't think PS1 is correct). As for your other questions.... I'm sure all these things are on the alpha suggestion list. All things will be considered, but at some point, the team will have to make a decision on whether to delay the release of the 744 for some feature which the average simmer would not see unless he/she stood on his head and squinted :-) (PS1 was filled with these kinds of details)Hope this helps Cheers.Ian.
November 29, 200421 yr >I think you'll>find that quite a few of the PMDG team have PS1 sitting on>their computers for comparison, so they will be using that as>a reference This is interesting point because 747-400 is probably the only aircraft type for which such "reference" is available (short of full motion simulator access to which would be both impractical and too expensive).Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.

November 29, 200421 yr >there are a few FAA desktop sims that>excel in other areas that PS1 does not that are checked>too...>Randy, are you telling me PMDG team has access to them?I know exactly what you are talking about - not exactly level "D" sims and with no "motion" part therefore a lot cheaper to operate but excellent to train on systems and procedures.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
November 29, 200421 yr Don't forget, PMDG (if i'm not mistaken) wrote a manual/operators guide for PS1, so they will know all the ins and outs :-) Alaister Kay
November 29, 200421 yr Hi Ian,Regarding the Fuel System. It's work in progress, and I didn't see that they(the PMDG team) mentioned it was! Sorry for that.About the Missing Flags. In my diagram (taken from a 744 AOM, wich is airline specific), for known resons there are flags missing/in wrong place. The F/D flag will show on the PFD if you turn the F/D swich on with the IRU's not alligned, but thats just a small point.I don't know yet if PMDG will make failures like 767PIC/PS1, or atleast have something like "x" failures per hour.Regards,Martin
November 29, 200421 yr Commercial Member Martin-what exactly is your point? We are in ALPHA stage right now... are you trying to show knowledge in 747-400 systems? If yes, then you succeeded. But please keep in mind that this is an ALPHA (ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA) version. That's EXACTLY why we don't like previewing systems before very late in the game. We're aware of ALL of what you point out - and, guess what - LOTS more (remember, we program it!). As such, we're simply trying to show WHERE we are and what we're planning to do, so that we keep our customers happy. We're NOT looking for feedback on existing stuff, at the moment... that's the job of the beta testers, and we're not in BETA yet. Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com

November 29, 200421 yr Lefteris,I'm not trying to show off my knowledge of the 747-400 systems!(And yes, I do know a little about the 744) I just found it odd, about the Fuel synoptic and the missing flags on the PFD. About the other things it was just "it would be nice to have" things. Anyway, thanks for the clearing things out and I'm glad your aware of the things, and even things I didn't see, I pointed out. I did wrote in my first post: "I know it's still Alpha Stage". I'm realy looking forward to get the queen of the skies in the air! Regards,Martin
