December 5, 200421 yr PMDG will support you outside of this public forum through their technical support email address. Paul is very good at addressing issues accurately and in a timely manner. This IS PMDG's forum that is hosted by AVSIM. You can choose not to sign your name, but the post is subject to deletion as it is in violation of the rules set forth by PMDG.
December 5, 200421 yr >Certain publishers we all know of don't ignore my requests for>help, and I use an alias then, so why wouldn't PMDG?? Vul,It all boils down how badly you want PMDG products. If sticking with your own principle is more important for you then certainly you can live without the PMDG product. If you are ashamed of your own name you could pick say "Samuel Adams" and be done but again - it takes some willingness to compromise. You remind me of someone that sued in Small Claims Court for $8.95. I guess this fellow figured his principle was more important than his time. December 5, 200421 yr You have been told once twice already, I will not address a reply to you again, you must sign your name. If you refuse then please do not come back here to post as your posts will not be answered by PMDG and hopefully no one else..Best Wishes,
Randy J. December 5, 200421 yr Commercial Member VulcanB2-any further posts not signed by yourself will be deleted. This should serve as your "official notice". There's no disrespect aimed towards your person, nor do we imply that you meant any harm, but failure to enforce the rules would allow others to complain about unequal treatment. Please adhere by the PMDG forum rules. Thanks, Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
December 6, 200421 yr First off, the 737NG is the first product I've purchased from PMDG and I absolutely love it (I think my girlfriend is a bit jealous of it, but that's another issue). I fully intend to buy the 747 as well regardless of PMDG's forum policy. Also the contributors to this forum are amazing in how they resolve questions for, in many cases, the satisfaction of helping out a fellow simmer. But as someone who actually designs custom web forums and other web applications, I have to admit I find the 'sign your real name' policy a bit strange. The main reason is that it is a registration based forum so PMDG has the ability ban anyone (as they should) regardless of what they sign their message with. Nobody is 'anonymous' as far administering the forum goes.So I guess I just don't get what difference it makes if someone makes a excellent post and signs it '#1simmerfan'. I also don't think anyone should have a right to make an insulting post just because they put a name on it. Who's to say which names are real anyway?Actually in the forums I set up, I encourage folks to use an 'online name' rather than there real name in their posts simply for their own security. However, that persons good conduct in the forum is strictly enforced.I'm sure the people at PMDG are good and honest people, but the reality is that there are a lot of people who get nervous about putting their personal information in cyberspace, even if it is just their name.Sorry for being long winded, it's just a subject near and dear to me. As is the PMDG 737!!Bob Quick Regards,Bob Quick

I am a forum moderator elsewhere, and I too find this particular point "odd" to say the least. Also, there are laws in certain countries where people UNDER certain ages are NOT ALLOWED by LAW to give this information, so you could be in breach, if you knew the ages of people. You need to be very careful when it comes to personal information, of which this classes!! Privacy and other laws over-ride forum policy at all times.Seeing as FS could be construed as "family entertainment", and carrying an "Ages 7+" certificate I believe, in addition to the possibility of people from countries where a minimum age for disclosure of personal information exists, all adds up to a rather unenforcable forum rule in law anyway. This is a world-wide forum, not limited to a single geographic location goverened by a single law, where all other outside access is prevented. As I said previously, ban my account if you wish, I'll create another. I'll also re-iterate that I am not here to "flame" or otherwise mis-use the service. Also, if you were talking to me on the phone or by e-mail, you would address me as either "Mr. S." or "Sir", not "John" as if we'd been buddies for years. Etequette is sadly lacking (certain forum members excluded from this observation, who posted in this thread - you know who you are, and I'm not just referring those who reffered to me as "Sir"!). Thanks for the understanding!I'd also like to point out that whilst posting your real name at the end of every post is a PMDG forum rule, I shall again highlight that I did not sign up with PMDG but in fact with AVSIM. As such, PMDG should require a seperate registration process and login to enable access to the PMDG forum, that is seperate to AVSIM, to enable the PMDG forum-specific rules to become applicable, as I have not "signed" the agreement with PMDG. An alternative is a screen (to which I must accept/decline everytime I visit the PMDG forum) that states the PMDG-specific forum rules, whilst using my AVSIM obtained login. These are the only recognized ways to enforce forum policy. I'm not being difficult, just highlighting that you can't enforce the unenforceable, especially with it as it stands at present.HepburnUGA - your post wasn't lost amongst the "other" "discussion"! Thanks for the info!John S.
December 6, 200421 yr Your opinion is sensible and mature enough, but if you choose to not go by PMDG's rules, as you say, not signing anything or accepting any kind of terms and conditions, then PMDG reserve the right to delete any posts you make. The door does swing both ways. This is borderring on "troll" behaviour. Just sign your name if you want to be a part of THIS forum. If you don't want to sign your name, then don't. But don't expect anything from anyone in this forum.RegardsGoran
December 6, 200421 yr This again is not anything personal against anyone. There have been a few others who wish to remain anonymous on the WWW and each have their own reasons why. On this forum, where we interact in close fashion there has to be some accountability which all will agree is missing from many *flame* posts and the like. This child forum, while being a part of Avsim, is not moderated whatsoever by Avsim but by members of PMDG who have the right to make rules according to their needs which they have done. Of course if anyone has some simulator issues and who also find that posting their name is not an option, can in such cases email product support, which remains a viable option at Further discussion about PMDG policies are not allowed, as this is a product support forum not a free opinion on what we think it should be. Thank you guysBest Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/southparkcartmad.gif
PMDG 747!
Caution!
