Green Arc

Featured Replies

When descending for an approach, occasionally the green arc disappears and does not re-appear even if I change the range on the EFIS.Any advice? Does it have anything to do with being in the wrong automation mode, ie, VS or LCHG etc.ThanksRenzo

As far as I can tell, the green arc doesn't show up if your climb/descent rate is less than a certain amount (500fpm? I'm guessing here, I don't remember at all).I'm guessing your approach descent rate is less than the rate required for the green arc to show up. It shouldn't be a problem. I don't remember if I see the arc or not on descents, but I'm guessing not.-stefan

I've observed that the green arc in map mode indicates the top of climb or bottom of descent to the altitude set on the MCU (eyebrow panel). In real world, for example, the next plan altitude may be lower than the ATC clearance, which is what is dialed into the MCU. The green arc will indicated the position on the flightpath where the cleared to altitude will be reached. It's a handy reminder.

Make sure the MAP range is set adequately. But your right, this behavior isn't exactly right. In the real 737NG's, the "green banana" does not disappear. It also should not change in size as the one in the SIM does. This is a minor problem.Floyd

Hi Renzo,If the green arc disappears away from the aircraft then set the range further to see it, if it disappears near the aircraft set the range closer. If the aircraft levels off then the arc is deactivated. As already stated this should not dissapear at all, but in a perfect world we would all be flying the real thing!!!Hope this helpsDaniel
