Greetings Everyone...The other topic was getting a little too filled in my opinion. I like to keep it clean and organized! Post your questions/comments/concerns here. I will let you all know of any new findings/progress I come upon.I hope everyone who wants the view has been able to get it. I know it's tough. There's a chance that "Big Brother" is watching at my school, and has capped our uploads. We'll see... Anyways, those who do have it, try to help out those who don't, if you can...Here are couple of things to start this new thread off right. CAT II approach at KIAD demonsrates this view's capabilities. Enjoy.Regards,Phil Geddesps. Thanks to vulcan's brilliant work, we should have a fix for the flash on the glareshield. Additionally, I will have an addition to the Panel.CFG which will add the marker indicators which should actually appear in this view... Thanks for all your comments and support-- makes it well worth it.

Hi PhilI find that the perspective that the view gives you is that the nose points towards the ground too much and to correct it I press SHIFT+DELETE (above the return key) twice. Is there any way I can permanently 'correct' this in the panel.cfg.I understand this is a matter of personal preference and maybe it's only me that would like change things this little bit. Thanks :-)

Hi Phil,This is great stuff, I really like this view.A couple of questions though: Do you actually see the runway that well with the view on the real plane? I feels like a plunging view towards the runway. Maybe you can see is so well!!!The other point, I had to use the numeric keyboard for those views, which means I couldn't use them while flying manually as I have to keep the 2 or the 5 key pressed all the times. Is there any workaround, so you can use them when flying manually, for example as a different cockpit view!!But that's really a good addition,Cheers,Francois

I think you guys will have to play around with zoom settings to get proper prespective from the cockpit. Also, maybe a hotkey or a hidden clickable spot that brings up the landing view like Lee's panel would be a nice touch.

I appreciate all the effort and I admit this is a fascinating topic. But I really like Lee's view much better. First I am a sucker for a large sharp EADI and in Lee's view EADI is a joy to look at (all these extra pixels !). I once calculated that it's apparent angular dimension is about the same as on a real 767 - in other words at normal viewing distance to the monitor the instrument has correct dimension. This coupled with 0.71 zoom gives (per calculations) the best outside perspective. Obviously I am getting the same approach advantage to be able to see runway lights as my other pic demonstrated (btw, CAT I is enough for me). The fact I don't see the center post is a minor thing for me. Most likely given the EADI of this size the center post could not be included without ruining perspective.Fitting the landing view on our small monitor will always call for compromises so without a doubt it will remain a highly personal choice.Michael J.

Hi,I've gotten confirmation from two 767/757 captains (and I happen to have an image that demonstrates this) that that is an accurate representation of the view the pilot gets during landing. You can, of course, see Capt. William "BBall" Ball's coment on the previous thread at http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...ewmode=threadedHis pictures also help to back this up. I will post a couple of images later which also demonstrate this. If you ever fly an approach like the Canarsie approach at JFK, you'll certainly appreciate the prespective. However, if you want to edit the view for personal preference, I'll post some simple instructions on how to do so!

I want to say how much I appreciate the work Lee & Phil have put into making these VFR/Landing view panels. Both are very well done and have good and bad points. I really like being able to see the EADI in Lee's panel, but I'm afraid I am plagued by the dreaded "sticky gear" problem. Sometimes won't retract after takeoff. Also with Lee's panel if I start cold & dark I can't get the IRS to align. Just keeps blinking Align.Phil's panel offers great visibility but at the sacrifice of the EADI. Also I am unable to see the landing lights when in the 2 or 5 view. Perhaps it is not possible to see the landing lights in these views.Once again, thanks to Phil & Lee for their great work!

To keep the view active, hold 2 or 5, whatever brings it up, keep 2/5 pressed, hold ctrl, let go of 2/5, then let go of ctrl. This works to keep the overhead open on the PSS Airbus.

Hey Everyone,Here are some fixes:1. If you are not happy with the view (let me just mention one more time that it has been checked by two captains), then you can change it by the following...In Panel.CFG, change the first number, which is 18, in the VIEW_REAR_DIR, and VIEW_DOWN_DIR lines. Lower this number to raise your perspective!2. To make the OMI lights functional, add the following line to [Fixed_window 36] as "gauge09":gauge09=B767WAfds_0001!OMI, 934,925,42,1553. A fix for the flash will be done within the next day or two. I'm in Texas right now, so there's not too much I can do.More to come!Phil Geddes
