FSSound.dll Incompatibility!

Featured Replies

Hi there,I just confirmed that FSSound.DLL is causing sounds of PIC763 not to play, and specifically the GPWS sounds. FSSound was installed by force in my system with the B25 Briefing Time MAAMSim demo without me being aware.During my flight yesterday I noticed that I had lost the GPWS sounds again. Even pressing the GPWS test button did not play any sounds. And when I checked my modules folder I saw the FSSound.dll in there, althouh I had it removed about two months ago when investigating similar PIC763 behaviour (sounds missing). So, if you have sound problems with PIC763 beware and check if FSSound.dll resides in the modules folder of FS2002... Rename it or remove it and all will be fine. However, there are some panels that DO require FSSound.dll to work.George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

George,I have fssound.dll installed in my modules folder (dated Nov 12, 2001) and my GPWS sounds work fine with 767PIC.In the FS2002.cfg file do you have... <---Should be square brackets...Fssound.dll=1...at the top?Perhaps that will fix the problem for you?DSCVA3339

Now, that's strange...I'm sure it was FSSound.dll the cause, since I got GPWS back when I renamed it...Is the FSSound.dll you use sized 8704bytes?ThanksGeorge DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Confirming the problem.fssound.dll (1.5.0.0 the one that comes with Randy's VFR panel) in the modules folder causes the GPWS not to play certain sounds (no "pull up - woop woop" when testing the GPWS/Annunciator Panel).Adding the "OldModules" fix did NOT cure it. Such a pity... I was so glad with Randy's VFR panel... but had to de-install it again because of this. All GPWS sounds are now back again.

Daryl or other pilots,Would you be so kind to send me that latest version of fssound.dll .Maybe that will fix the problem, so I can use Randy's panel [email protected] obliged,

Does anyone know who's the author of FSSound.dll ?And if there is any website about it?I keep seeing different versions of dlls (size and dates that is) but not anywhere a complete zip package with documentation etc...Any ideas?ThanksGeorge DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Jaaky, Since this only deals with the "click sound" for the taxi light you do not need it to use my panel. The taxi light will still work correctly minus the click. I have yet to check other versions for compatibility. Best Wishes, Randy J. Hi Randy,But I get a gauge loading error when I remove the DLL .Perhaps I should, when I reinstall, put the "OLDMODULES" entry at:fssound.dll=0 :-hmmm But as I discovered that there is a later version of fssound.dll ,then I have, I would like to get my hands on it before reinstalling your panel.

George,I have FSSound.dll 1.5.0.1Size (13.312 bytes)Size on Disk (16.384 bytes)I didn't found any in FS2002.cfg !!!All the GWPS warning sounds plus testing work normaly. I did a test flight, high speed dives no flaps or gears. Everything was OK :)That's computers... go figure..... :-boomSamuel Kalachoras :-waveAthensGreece

Ok please try the FSSound.dll 1.5.0.1 first. If that does not work, I will modify the gauge file to remove the click sound so it will work. I originaly had it without the click sound anyway.Best Wishes, Randy J. Hi Randy,Daryl kindly sent me the latest version of the dll. It'll be within a few days before I have time to re-install and check out of the version 1.5.1 cures the problem. The good news is that, under the "Version" tab of the file properties it now also mentions FS2002.I'll keep you informed.

Sam,could you email me the FSSound.dll version you have?It seems that it works for some, not for others. It must be connected to the version of FSSound.dll or there may be something else to blaim!Fact is I had sounds ok, I lost them, I removed FSSound.dll and they were fixed (my test is the GPWS test button...), then FSSound.dll was forced in by the B25 installation, lost the sounds, removed it again, but GPWS sounds were still gone...Go figure! Geeeee... I'm tired of this. At least I have VCP which I configured to have GPWS Regards,George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

George I have the full version of breifing time B25 and it comes with fssound.dll version 1.5.0.2, I believe this is the latest .I had version 1.5.0.1 before that and have never had the old modules entry with that version either .I have no GPWS trouble running either versions of the fssound.dll. (Running winXP PRO).
