March 13, 200323 yr I seem to remember the PIC team saying that they were working on another project? Am I correct? If so, what happened to it? I doubt it has passed me by, but it might have as I've not been keeping up to date over the last few months.Thanks.phil
March 13, 200323 yr Wade confirmed a week or so ago that they are still working on it although you know how long labours of love take :0Best Wishes, Randy J. March 13, 200323 yr Funny I was just wondering the very same thing! I'm dying to know what aircraft it is!My money's on it being an MD-80.
March 13, 200323 yr Here's the logic behind my prediction :) .....First of all, what category of aircraft will it be? Obviously a transport category. Jet or turboprop?Perhaps a turboprop? Well IMHO the turboprop market is pretty much catered for at the moment. In terms of freeware we have Frolov's Dash 8, and FFG have a Saab 340 in development. Commercially available we have the PSS Dash 8 and Eurowings ATR (which I believe is to receive an upgrade in the near future). Anyway, I may be wrong but I think addons for jet airliners tend to sell better than turboprops...So that means it's probably an airliner in the works...What type of airliner? Short/medium or long haul? Again, I think short/medium haul types tend to sell better because most of us don't have the time to cross oceans or continents.Boeing, MDD or Airbus? Well PSS and Wilco already have A320 products on the market, so there's no sense in doing another A320. A realistic Airbus would require a simulation of the Airbus FBW - no mean feat for any developer. As much as I'd like to see a good A330/340 I think it's safe to assume the PIC team aren't working on an Airbus. So what about Boeing? Captainsim have a 727 and Dreamfleet are working on one. No sense in doing another 727 then. Likewise as far as the 737 is concerned - Dreamfleet already has the -400 and PMDG are working on the 737NG. How's about a 747? A 747-200 has recently been released, and PSS are working on a new -400. They are also doing a new 777 too, so that's the 747 and 777 ruled out. A 757 is a very likely candidate, but I think if it really were a 757 we would have seen it by now (remember the high degree of commonality between the 757/767 would mean that much of the work on 767PIC could probably be integrated into a hypothetical 757PIC). Maybe a 717? Probably not because I don't think there's much interest in this aircraft as so few airlines fly it in real life.So we have MDD left. Flight One already have a DC-9. A DC-10 would be *great*, but this aircraft is an increasingly rare sight in modern airline fleets, and I think products reflecting current types in service sell better. An MD-11 maybe? Again this would be a great addon I'd love to see, but it's not a very common aircraft, and it's a long haul one too.....So what do we have left? An aircraft that has been produced in very large numbers, has seen service with *many* airlines across the world. An short/medium haul type that has been overlooked by developers for far too long......the MD-80.An MD-80 addon would give the PIC team a very wide scope of possibilities - an entire family of airliners (MD-81,-82,-83,-87,-88,-90), a choice of analogue or EFIS flight decks and *lots* of potential liveries. You know it makes sense ;)
March 13, 200323 yr MD80 or MD90 would be great! As long as typical cruise time is ca 1-2 hours.:-kewl
March 13, 200323 yr A 747-400 would be nice if it were done by the PIC team as I belive the PSS version is underdone (undercooked) a little.By the way didn,t somebody mention CONCORDE? or was that PSS to.The other thing that I would like is a fully kitted out BizzyJet like the Hawker800 I used to fly in the FLY/FLYII sim. As I had many happy hours with it but in FS2002 it would be great.
March 13, 200323 yr Thanks Randy,Must have missed that - another case of asleep at the wheel. x(I feel for the PIC team, if they release it within the next few months they're inevitably going to get the deluge of "but will it work in MS FS CoF" questions.Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to seeing it. To whoever's over-seeing the project: the door must remain locked and keep feeding the pizzas through the letterbox until they finish! :-lol phil
March 14, 200323 yr If there is a new PIC project in the making, will it be on the same scale in terms of realism as the 767PIC ?Can it be used with FS2004 (ACOF)?Thanks
