The word from Wilco - PIC and 2004

Featured Replies

Hi Gang,I'm thinking about buying 767PIC, but was a little concerned about the compatibility with FS 2004. I emailed Wilco, and Christophe Modave was thoughtful enough to promptly reply. Here is what he said: "Unfortunately, 767PIC should be not compatible with FS2004. Except if the core of FS2004 accept all programming instruction developed for FS2000".Does anyone know yet if 2004 will accept 2000 code?Even if it doesn't, I'll probably buy this great add-on anyway and leave 2k2 on my machine.Jim

Well from what I know, FS2004 does accept the "core" of FS2000 and FS2002, as long as the guidelines were followed in the SDK for development.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Greetings.Ya know, there was a thread not too long in the past where Wade(?) mentioned that there may be another patch for PIC coming, so the product may or may not go forward into COF. I think that I can safely say that we'd all be incredibly happy if it did, even if this time it was a pay upgrade, but considering that we've now had an aircraft which I still fly more than all my other aircraft combined for years, I can certainly say that I've gotten far more than my fair money's worth out of it. Even if I did have to lave 2K2 on my drive just to keep flying this aircraft, I know that I would. So, I would suggest that we all have some patients. Who of us knows what surprises the future may hold.Good luck!P

The next PIC is not necessary the 767

Greetings. Granted, the next PIC programming team product is likely not the 767, but in http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho...&topic_id=14940 message 6, Wade seems to make a distinction between the next patch, and the next product. If we're lucky the patch will also make PIC conpatible with 2K4, if the 2K2 patched product doesn't just work. We can always hope that A) there is another PIC767 patch released, and :( the software functions in 2K4.Take care.P

I don't see that at all. All he was saying in responce to one users wanting to be able to use bal bla bla and Wade saying "OUR NEXT VERSION" i.e. NEW PRODUCT not patch. We all know that there will never ever be another patch for PIC 767, plain simple fact.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Randy,The post thta ws referred to was triggered by a question mine. I am building a home cockpit as want to be able to read the PIC variables (to drive LEDS and so on). Wade answered: "don't worry". It might be wishfull thinking, but why would he say this when the next product wasn't related to the 767? "Sure, don't worry, carry on with you cockpit project, our next product will be an XYZ".And remember: patch 1.3 came out after the announcement that no more work would be done. OK, it's all circumstantial eveidence, but hey, what else is there to believe?Kind regards,Stephan Haashttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...or=SVA1&a=a.jpg

I would tell you why, but then I would have to kill you! LOL JK, really I see it this way, whatever they are working on, he assumes that we will all go bonkers for (he is correct of course)it and is saying that this will no longer be a problem carried over to their new product. My guess? 757 or 767-400! Might be way off here hehe. The 767 is not worth their time because it no longer makes them $$$ so why make a another patch so some incredible small number of users who have built or will build a home cockpit can use the correct "variables"? Actually Wade did mention on this Forum that the next product you will have access to Internal variables not only for us Cockpit builders but I guess for other

Randy ,I dont think the original PIC was conceived solely to make money, something like this is an obvious labor of love. So any forthcomming patch or upgrade would be for the enjoyment of doing it, not neccesarily for profit(although they deserve it). How can you put a value on how much enjoyment everyone has had with PIC767 through 2 versions of F/S and possibly compatible with the upcomming version.

Hi Randy,Just some inside updates on the "WEPL" team. I worked with them almost all the way through the PIC 767 developent as a beta tester, got to know these guys pretty well. Even though they agreed to be funded by Wilco, for development, they all have good day jobs. They could have made more money being ditch diggers than what this project "netted" them. They truly did develop PIC 767 for the pure love of flight simming. The amount of pure excellence in their work is eviddent today years after they did the original work, it is still one of the most technically advanced panels available for MSFS. If there was a tweak needed to make this panel work with FS2004COF, this team would do it for the pure love the thousands of users of their work receive each day.I cannot speak for Wade, Eric, Laurent and Pedro, but you are not going to find anywhere a bunch of guys so dedicated to being the BEST. Don't EVER think they worked for just the $$$$$$, but for the love of this hobby.CheersBob Johnson

But they have told us that there will be no more patches done. How often does it need to be stated? Labour of love, sure, this was the case of course when first making the 767, but they could give a hoot if anyone wants to further thier project and won't ever and I mean ever lend a hand in this. And let me say that this many times has nothing to do the "CODE" and if the "labour of love" was still the case, you think they would have given a hand for the TCAS? Or for the many who needed help with thier cockpits? What about the Taxi thrust issue? Did you see one opine from the team on it? What about a GMAX model made with love? I love the product, but could care less about personalities who have no desire to help those of us who have made it "our labour of love". [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hi Randy,I agree with all you have said. I'm particularly disappointed in the length of time it is taking for this supposedly new product to be announced let alone be available for purchase. It must be a new record for the length of time it's been in production.Wade and Laurent, as moderators of this forum and as co-developers of the new product, could make an announcement and kill off all the speculation and rumour that has circulated on these pages for months. But nothing has been forthcoming. Why the secrecy? I love the 767PIC as much as anyone but the lack of information and help to other enthusiasts from the team has not endeared them to me. Not very professional I'm afraid.Regards,

*SIGH*Some of these posts are so uninformed that they are tempting the old Stiffy to come out of hiding but I'll pass....this would be too easy....like shooting fish in a barrel.
