Roger Wilco crashes FS - help

Featured Replies

I remember long ago I had this SAME problem, I did something, and it was fixed...now it is back....I remember there were some nice folks here who helped me before I ###### them off ;-)When flying on-line with Roger Wilco...if I close/restart Roger Wilco, it crashes FS to the desktop as soon as I close it...I get the "send a message to Bill about FS F'ing up"...and have to re-start the computer.I recall the same problem about 2 years ago...but my no-term memory prevents me from remembering how it was fixed.Mike B will likely remember this, me olde NavAid matey. Please help the needy.Rob.

Sorry Pal, to many River Visuals between then and now. Looks like your RW is sharing a resource with FS somehow. Looks like a save opportunity for the Stiffster. Perhaps he or someone else can nail it.Mike

Damn...I wish I could remember what I did to fix it...if I hadn't consumed all those intoxicants over the years..Only Stiffy can help me now...if they shine a bat up into the sky to call Batman for help, what do we shine in the sky to call "Stiffy" for help? Please help.

I also notice a lot of intermittent page faults while surfing with IE...and when I shut down the PC now, I get a message at the end of the shut down saying "It is now safe to turn off your computer" ... which I have not seen since the Roger Wilco problem was fixed the first time...something is up.Yes, I did the Windows update scan...nothing critical missing. Not sure if these are related symptoms of my root problem or not, but thought I would add it in.I wish Apple would perfect an FS version of it's own.Any suggestions greatly appreciated.Rob.

ARHRHGHGHFHRHGHGHRFFFFFI've fallen and I can't get up.Please help me get Roger back on his feet.

Are you just whining :-violin or could it be that your self replies are really typing practice for the SB chat window. :-lol :-lol :-lol :-lol If you were in a real airplane, you would be in restraints by now. :-madPerhaps you could convince your future bride to trade

Yep that is what I would suggest also.1. Reboot your system.2. Uninstall Roger Wilco, then reboot again. Make sure you system is stable then reinstall RW.What version of RW are you using? Also you might want to run something like RegCleaner after uninstalling RW (use with extreme care) to make sure no traces are left in your registry.http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml

Thanks Gents!I will give it a try and report back.Rob.

This was happening to me as well Rob a few months back. Solution was to us WideFS and a second computer running RW. All is well and very stable. I can get you a good P2 350 that will do the job for under 400$ CDNAdvise

The plot thickens...I checked my IRQ's...all my buddies with Soundblaster Live! are using IRQ 5 for the soundcard (default) shared with PCI steering. For some reason, my Soundblaster Live! is at IRQ 12 sharing a PCI steering. Could this be part/symptom of a problem?? IRQ 5 has something else in it, I can't recall. Anyhow, could this be part of the problem? My Soundblasyer also shows (E000) in the properties/ID.Over.

Probably not the problem. Did you get the email I sent you?cz

Cheers mate!

Not sorted yet Dean...ripping out my hair on this one...hang on, I have no hair...oh well..My next step in the trail is to install Direct X 9a. I am running 8a right now and it -was- all smooth sailing. I heard there was problems with SBOX/Multiplayer using DirectX9 with Win98se?? Know anything about that?If that doesn't do it, I am going to beat up my cat and will feel better afterwards.Rob.
