July 27, 200322 yr .........would'dt you!!!!!!!!!!!Better Yet lets get the PIC767 Boys back banging their heads together and get a brand new shiney 767 SIM.........Please PIC dont let this beauty die...........Regards
July 27, 200322 yr I would love to see PIC done up for FS2004 as well, whether it be patched or an all new sim, but lets not get overly anxious about paying as much as 200 dollars as developers are already starting to charge very high prices for their add-ons as it is.I'm a Canadian and when a 40 dollar (U.S.) add-on is purchased by me it ends up being over 60 bucks and this quickly starts becoming very expensive, not to mention that with the release of FS2004 and all the problems I have been reading about with the newest addition, it looks like I will have to upgrade my system and O/S before I even purchase COF and with that being said I am in absolutely no hurry to switch to the new sim as I can't see dropping that kind of coin right now.I'm sure in time Wade and the gang will do something for the PIC heads, but really IMHO I can't see the hurry as MS2004 seems to have a few issues that need to be sorted out and with all the mods that have been created for PIC ( Lee's IVSI/TCAS-Transponder package, PIC/Posky merge, Posky gmax763, ifdg gmax763 and many others) it most definately will keep me happy for some time to come. Heck I can't even see flying the PIC panel now without Lee's newest IVSI/TCAS package and I'm more eager to receive his final edition ( aural and vsi commands during an RA threat) then I am upgrading to FS2004, so if you're reading this Lee I hope you still plan on adding those features to your gauge at some point regardless of the release of FS2004 as I plan on using FS2002 for many moons yet...lol Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
July 27, 200322 yr Commercial Member I would easily pay $30-40 for a 2004 patch to the current one, and upwards of $150 for a full blown new sim with VC, enhancements to the FMC (pseudo-wps, etc) and maybe a 757 mode for the panel so it could be used with correct weights, fuel flow etc...Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 28, 200322 yr Van,My example of what I would pay for a new PIC is just to show what my appreciation towards the SW is. And I can see that I'm not alone :).MSFS is purely a platform or a scenery creator for me, a base to have PIC on top of. Well... we'll see if we ever hear any good news from the developers or not.Tero PPL(A)
July 28, 200322 yr Tero,I too appreciate PIC a great deal but 200 bucks would be a bit steep for most simmers. I pretty much draw the line at 40 and even then I expect to only pay once for a released package as more and more developers are charging for an unfinished release and then charging again for an update a few weeks or months down the road.I guess what I'm trying to say is lets show our appreciation, but not give developers the idea that we would pretty much pay anything or prices will keep escalating to unreal amounts.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
July 28, 200322 yr I spend more than that on BEER ;) And if PIC was a bit closer to PS1 I do not think they would have very much trouble selling it for 200, how many people spend 300-400 on a video card alone? 40 bucks is chump change even to a poor man like me.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. July 28, 200322 yr Yes but a video card you buy once and upgrade maybe every couple of years, but if one developer starts charging 200 bucks for an FS add-on, then all developers will get the same idea in mind and I along with I'm sure many others will not be able to afford to get many add-ons. It will be more like, choose one buy it and thats it for quite awhile as there are other family members to divvy the earnings out to for there hobbies and or recreational needs.I'll stop my whining now...lol...and enjoy this hobby as long as I can afford to.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
July 28, 200322 yr Well I agree with you to a point, but like I said, if we had ONE, just one that came as close as possible to full system replication we would not want to fly others, at least I would not, I think many here only fly PIC because it's close. Plus I think FS is on the edge of FAA types like ASA IP Trainer (195.00 dollars)and On Top (125.00 dollars), I for one would not want to limit these developers if they can produce this type of product... July 29, 200322 yr Van,Not trying to make your financial situation worse heh... a couple more things tho :). I think that PIC is not your average addon. It's three years old and still going strong.... yet to be beaten actually. I've had countless of hours of fun and learning with it. PIC is the reason I like FS so much. If it wasn't for it, I doubt I would be even messing around in the FS world that much. Also, wrt video card; how many video cards give you this much fun for a three years time? PIC has never gotten old like addons usually do. Sure, it has no VC, but I couldn't care less. Many magnificient addons to it are keeping it alive and well, and I would imagine that if PIC was to have a facelift of some kind, it would no doubt hold its position for at least as long as the current version. Not bad. It's the only airliner, that can be flown with 99% correct procedures. It's the only airliner that I can fly by the book after devouring 400 pages of FCTM and 1000 pages of AOM. I'm a realism-freak, and I think most PIC users are. To me 200 bucks is a big pile of money... but I would be willing to spend it on a new PIC without even giving it a second thought. It's my hobby and I love it... :).cheersTero PPL(A)
July 29, 200322 yr Tero,Well the video card is the reason you can see the sim so it's tied into your PIC enjoyment amongst anything else you do with your pc ;) lol, but all kidding aside I've been at this hobby since 97 and I've had PIC on my PC since it's release oh so long ago. I also use PIC more then any of my other add-ons and I'm a stickler for realism as well, so you definately don't have the market sewn up there. On average I use PIC at least once a day and sometimes more, but if a new version of PIC were to ever cost 200 bucks I would have to pass and keep flying the original in FS2002 as I would just not pay that much for any add-on even PIC, but thats my opinion and everyones will differ I'm sure.Anyway enough of this bantering back and forth and lets just wait to see what happens as I'm sure an all new PIC (if it happens) will carry a reasonable price tag.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
July 29, 200322 yr What a weird discussion - if all of you were developers, would you rather sell 50 copies of your product for $200 each, or 500 copies for $40 each?Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
July 29, 200322 yr I would seriously pay for a patch no problem at all..it would be well worth it! :D
