February 13, 200521 yr What would be a greater way to introduce the world of Flightsimming to a new JET than to have it participate in The RTW Race! on its very first days out. What do you think LevelD Beta Team and Wade....I know there is some work to be done but is there a possibility this could happen???Ill be happy to fly a segment for you.Regards
February 14, 200521 yr Hi all, first time poster / long time post-reading type guy. :)If the package isn't released in time for the race (great if it is!) then an alternative might be to arrange a 767 PICv2 Fly-OUT at Everett a few days after release. A few days after release gives people a chance to do some test flying around Washington State / Canada before all meeting up again and then departing for our respective home bases at the same time.An AFCAD file could be done up giving the required number of Heavy stands to allow for a smooth flow of traffic taxying out, I'm sure there'd be controllers who'd love to handle such an event.Thoughts?Mark
February 15, 200521 yr Commercial Member That sound very good idea,If this happenes also during weekend so that we Europeans can fly too ;)Chris Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com
February 15, 200521 yr I don't know about RTW, but the Everrett fly out sound like a good idea.I plan to fly into BFI with an A332 (Boo Hiss) that I have been using since my FS2K2 #2 disk broke, but then I am going to dump it a BFI and spend a week getting used to the LDS.(the A332 is a short term charter from Qantas, so I need to get it halfway back to Oz)after a few days of ground manouver/ flight deck familiarisation I'm planning a couple of familiarisation rides (Seattle area) and ETOPS validation checkride and then a two stage delivery back to EGLL, where she will enter service for BAV.This should take from one Saturday to the following Sunday, but due to RL commitments this may be slightly delayed.Anyone else planning anything this nuts. (Only planning this as we don't get a chance to do delivery flight in the Sim, so I thought this would be the closest I'm ever going to get).RegardsChris Regards, Chris Willis, CVHK Line Pilot http://hk.vatsea.net/cpa/
February 16, 200521 yr I was going to be doing something like it, Chris. Probably a few hours on the ground getting fully familiar with the cockpit then about an hour familiarisation ride. Then a few hours nav exercise north from Everett, maybe up to the edge of the arctic circle and back.Subject to a Fly-out occurring I'll be back in time to partake in that, flying out to KJFK and then getting into a variety of routes gleaned from RW schedules.Mark
February 16, 200521 yr If something like this is put together, I will do it. I will fly her in DAL livery of course to ATL and then her first pax flight will be to SFO. Eric
February 18, 200521 yr From what you all are planing, it all sounds WISE! Have a great time re-learning the 767. This sim is a whole new baby!Great idea for the fly out!!
February 18, 200521 yr I am also planning to do some flight testing at Edwards Air Force Base. where there's the biggest runway 15000 Feet. my tests will consist of a VMU Test Velocity Minimum On Stick, Break testing and steering testing a series of flight testing which will include engine shut down and a bunch of things that Boeing uses for new aircrafts. Best Regards Adib Afraj Best Regards Adib Afraj
February 18, 200521 yr Okay,There seems to be enough interest in this fly-out. I'm going to start a new thread to arrange it.Mark :)
February 19, 200521 yr fyi, Vmu = Minimum Unstick speed, which is not an operational speed, it's a speed used to calculate the operational speeds.by definition Vmu = the lowest CALIBRATED airspeed at and above which the airplane can safely lift off the ground, and continue the takeoff. This value is never published in the Air flight manuals since it's operational use is pointless. It's use is to calculate Vr(if this option tends to be the biggest of the 4 factors for Vr)Cheers
February 19, 200521 yr Hi fellas-I've just posted the final rules for the RTW Race. Wouldn't you know it, being the tricky people we are, we've added a few "Jump Jet" locations where you CAN fly jets in this year's race. I'm offering a special dispensation to the 'aircraft available before the race' rule for this plane if it's released before the end of the race and people want to fly it as a Jump Jet. (I'm not trying to pressure the developers in the least, merely offering the option to race pilots to fly it in the race if things work out.)I've been watching this forum with increasing eagerness for the past few months. Best of luck to the developers and all who hang out here for a successful release.Kindest Regards-Matt SmithOrganizer/Chairman of the Rules and Administration CommitteeMSFS RTW Race Matthew Smith | Priority Left Consulting www.priorityleft.com
February 20, 200521 yr Pardon my ignorance but what is an RTW. Maybe its a Race To Wade's....wherever that is? ;-)Bernie
