April 2, 200719 yr Just doing a bit of research.I've currently got 1 20" LCD monitor for running MSFS. I'd like to add in an extra monitor or two. E.g. for docking windows to (FMC etc..). I'm thinking of getting a TripleHead2Go unit. However I don't have any spare flatscreen lying around ;-). However a do have a couple of 17" CRT monitors spare. Has anyone used the TH2GO in this setup (where the left and right screens are a different size/style from the centre monitor?)
April 3, 200719 yr Yes I have. 2 19's and a 32 incher in the center. You will have no problems at all. I have tried CRT's too and they work fine. Keith Sandford.
April 3, 200719 yr The TH2Go will, at best, output 1280x1024 to each of the three monitors. If you are using a TFT then, unless their native resolution is that then they will scale the image which can cause distortion.
April 4, 200719 yr I have had no problem with distortion, I must say. My TFT's work fine at all res settings. What I will say though is with mixing monitors, especially CRT / TFT, you will notice differences in colour, contrast, brightness and gamma and is virtually impossible to fix. Thats why I purchased 3 identical TFT's in the end. Keith Sandford.
April 25, 200719 yr Hi,Have been reading this thread and have a couple of questions to help me in deciding if my idea can work. Here's my basic system:A8N-E BoardAMD 64 3700+ 2.21Ghz CPU1 Gb RAMnVidia 7800 GT GPUUsing FS 2004 with PMDG 737, Active Sky, FSUIPC, Flight Keeper. Currently building cockpit using Go Flight, PFC, and various hardware switches and controls. What I'm thinking of doing is the following:Single PCGP Card #1 - 7800 GT3 monitors - 21" + TH2GO - Outside views (seen as a single monitor by the PC)2 19" Monitors with Y connection from PC - PFD & ND (pilot & F/O)GP Card #2 ?????1 Monitor - Standby Guages and Engine Instruments1 Monitor - Overhead and FMC mainly but also other pop-up panels. So I'm thinking of using 1 PC with 2 graphics cards, non-SLI to run a total of 7 screens. Not sure if this will work and not sure what other graphics card I should think of using.Any comments or ideasMany ThanksRob
April 25, 200719 yr Your 4 monitors from GP1 should work no problem, the 2nd GP would only display 2D panels so a cheap geforce would do the trick. I, however, found that using the same cards makes for a more stable PC. It should work fine though. You may get synch problems though as I have had in the past.I would go for FSX though if I were you especially seeing as you are spending sooo much on monitors. May want to get an air conditioner too as it will get hot with all those screens. Keith Sandford.
April 25, 200719 yr Thanks Keith. Would it help to expand the memory to 2Gb as well? Not sure about FSX yet, have heard some good reports and not so good, but it's a thought. Forgot to mention I also use Ground Env. ProRob
April 26, 200719 yr Yes 2GB will help but you don't need anymore than that. Seeing as you are so serious about your set-up I would definitely go for fsx especially as the 1st Service pack will shortly be released which is going to increase performance by a long shot (apparently). Keith Sandford.
