odd front page stories today...

Featured Replies

On the Avsim home page I read two items that I thought were a bit odd.First: High density mesh for the Great Plains?? does anyone else see this as like an oxymoron? I personally would not buy any land mesh for anything east of Denver as you can almost see Detroit from Colorado Spring! Then again I am from the Northwest.Second: What's up with this PSS Dash8? It has been in development for over 10 months and it comes out in 4 weeks and there are NO screenshots of anything (plane, panel, features...) In fact they link to photos of a product that is due out AFTER the Dash. Umm, maybe I should not be expecting much from that package, we'll see.Anyways, those are my thoughts (I am probably going to get flamed, so be it)Thanks and good flying.

Hi Mike,PSS posted quite a few screenshot of the Dash8 quite some time ago (well over a month), including some panel shots - I guess they've just vanished in the depths of the PSS forum...Cheers,Gosta.

pun intended I assume :-)

Then again I am from the Northwest.Well that just shows how ignorant you are fella! You're missing a lot east of Denver, but we wont miss you.

Okay - here's a little titbit of news. I was surfing around - and came across a freeware FS2002 scenery of Cancun, Mexico.Haven't looked at it yet - but when SimFlyers bring out their Miami scenery, I'll head over the Gulf...http://www.fsbr2002.hpg.ig.com.brRob

Well, that's a bit aggressive, Fred. Door fall off your Beaver?Francois, my comment above was purely for the pun of it. Just to be clear, I think your Avsim news coverage and the regularity of updates beats anthing out there. When you combine that with the excellence of the library and the speed of download, it beats me that anyone bothers to fight their way into the "other" site any more.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

HI Mike,>>First: High density mesh for the Great Plains?? does anyone >else see this as like an oxymoron? I personally would not >buy any land mesh for anything east of Denver as you can >almost see Detroit from Colorado Spring! Then again I am >from the Northwest. >True, the Great Plains doesn't have a plethora of spectacular terrain. certainly not like the obvious Rockies, or Appalachians, etc. But it's not a pool table! :-)There is the Black Hills, of course, The Badlands, and the ever-present subtly rolling terrain that isn't brought out by lower-resolution terrain. Here's a good example. Not typical, but there:http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/govdocs/text...lains/fig26.jpgIn any case, the Great Plains is subtle in most places, not "in your face" like the Rockies, but there is some interesting terrain nonetheless. :-)Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.com

thanks all, again it was just in jest. I always admire the job done by the staff at AVSIM, keep up the great work. Also, I stand corrected by the photo in this thread of some interesting land forms for the plains...also, the excellent response by PSS for the Dash series. Looking very very nice.p.s. actually response is the wrong word, as I am sure PSS had that information ready for release regardless of my thread. good flying to all.

Wonder if the new scenrey will include Prarie Dogs, that would add something to it. See their little heads pop up as you fly overhead. :-vuur
