October 18, 200223 yr The '#' sign I think is a restricted character in filenames. It is much better to stick with straight alpha or numeric characters, that is A-Z and 0-7 in any filename. *, #, ?, ', etc. often are meta characters as special functions (wildcards, temp names). In win it is also not a good idea to have multiple '.' in a name. The string following the first '.' may be accepted as the first extension and the rest ignored. For naming conventions, I often change the last character of a filename extension to 'h' for hold, 'o' for old, or a numeric for versioning. Also, the ILS info for runways is in the file under FS2002 called Prwydata.txt which can be edited and viewed with Wordpad - if you modify it make sure it remains saved as a .txt type file, not a .doc file. Maybe you can check a "good" precision approach location against one that is giving you difficulty. Search by ICAO call.
October 18, 200223 yr I have been told or read somewhere that discovering gems is not accomplished in one prescribed FORMULA, but rather involves a multiplicity of methods. In India, to "discover" the gems that wash down the Gangees (sp?) requires searching in the mucky waters of that river.Similarly, these newsgroups seems to have a certain amount of "muck" as per one post here that implies all the ILS files can be found in "prwydata.txt". (Correct me if I am wrong, tho'). At least my search did not produce anything like it, nor did a visual search of txt files in fs2002 show anything like an all inclusive file of this nature (tho' there may be addons from the original free NAV by Ted Wright, or the work by Herve Sors for changing ILS freq). To check on the ILS files requires going to the SCENEDB folder and under each region one can find the individual *ils.bgl files.RWPS: Putting down something or someone is a form of publicity that in the case of Microsoft, doesn't seem to really hurt them. The more people whine, the more new customers. And I have to say that I really liked ProPilot since it gave me a more realistic idea of using the radio (this was before fs2k2), if only their scenery had been a bit more polished (or if they had used java . . .)
